S.M.A.R.T. Goal In the past eight weeks my professor insisted, as a class, to create a S.M.A.R.T goal. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is a goal that is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. My S.M.A.R.T. goal contained; increasing my intake of water, develop better eating habits, and exercise. I have been wanting to develop a healthier lifestyle for myself because I have noticed I am getting out of shape, and developing health risks. I want to be able to not only better myself, but learn how to help my family and friends to develop a healthier lifestyle. It’s very important to maintain your overall health for many reason, but the main is to live a longer life. The healthier you are the less health risk, less stress, more energized, and to even see your family grow up. …show more content…
goal I changed my daily routine to a completely different lifestyle. Before, I would just go with the flow and do things as my day went by. Now, I am in a routine that works so much better and is very beneficial to my health. I usually have a pretty busy schedule through the week so, I decided to set time aside on Sunday’s to prepare my meals for the week. I have five small meals a day to help me from over eating, it also helps me from getting hungry throughout the day. To make sure that I intake the right number of calories I use the app MyFitnessPal. This app also counts your macros so it is really nice to see how many grams of carbs, fats, or proteins you are still needing to take

R&D Project Selection Using the Ahp

...ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT, VOL. 49, NO. 1, FEBRUARY 2002 59 R&D Project Selection Using the Analytic Network Process Laura M. Meade and Adrien Presley Abstract—The analytic network process (ANP) is presented as a potentially valuable method to support the selection of projects in a research and development (R&D) environment. This paper first discusses the requirements of the R&D project selection problem, which requires the allocation of resources to a set of competing and often disparate project proposals. Among the factors complicating this task is the need to make the decision within the framework of an enterprise’s strategic objectives and organizational structure while considering and integrating financial and strategic benefits of each project. The paper discusses the use of the ANP, a general form of Saaty’s analytic hierarchy process, as a model to evaluate the value of competing R&D project proposals. A generic ANP model developed by the authors, which includes in its decision levels the actors involved in the decision, the stages of research, categories of metrics, and individual metrics, is presented. The paper concludes with a case study describing the implementation of this model at a small high-tech company, including data based on the actual use of the decision making model. Index Terms—Analytic hierarchy process, analytic network process, multicriteria decision making, project selection, R&D management, R&D projects. I. INTRODUCTION OR MANY firms, especially...

This paper begins by briefly summarizing the nature of organizational justice and by identifying how justice is perceived. Hofstede’s five factors of cultural dimension model, which he developed in his seminal 1980 research on national cultures, is utilized to present characteristics of cultural differences. Ten propositions are then offered which relate to organizational justice and differences in cultural perspectives. These propositions suggest specific management approaches that organizational leaders can adopt to be more effective in dealing with employees from respective cultures. This paper concludes by identifying the importance of understanding the relationship between organizational justice and national culture and suggests research opportunities of benefit to both scholars and practitioners. Keywords: Organizational justice, Cultural differences, Organizational fairness 1. However, both are expected to influence a variety of behavioral outcomes, and so it seems evident that we should consider both in examining the impact of individual differences on behavior. Yet this practice is so infrequent, there is little understanding of how personality and values are related to one another, much less how they might jointly impact behavior. As such, this manuscript considers both personality and values simultaneously as predictors of motivated behavior. In this paper we review the personality and values literatures in...

In attempt to extend theories related to goal orientation and Yu’s (1996) study on cultural difference in motivation to Chinese work domain, in this research, 75 working people from Mainland China were invited to complete a set of questionnaires on goal orientation, work climate, task complexity, work experience and marriage status. The relationships among these variables were examined. Contrary to hypotheses, learning goal orientation positively correlated with autonomous work climate but did not correlate significantly with task complexity. Work climate had no effect on participants’ performance approach goal orientation but task complexity was found...

...Informazione Politecnico di Milano Piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32 I-20133 Milano, Italy morasca@elet.polimi.it Victor R. Basili Computer Science Department University of Maryland College Park, MD 20742 basili@cs.umd.edu Abstract Little theory exists in the field of software system measurement. Concepts such as complexity, coupling, cohesion or even size are very often subject to interpretation and appear to have inconsistent definitions in the literature. As a consequence, there is little guidance provided to the analyst attempting to define proper measures for specific problems. Many controversies in the literature are simply misunderstandings and stem from the fact that some people talk about different measurement concepts under the same label (complexity is the most common case). There is a need to define unambiguously the most important measurement concepts used in the measurement of software products. One way of doing so is to define precisely what mathematical properties characterize these concepts, regardless of the specific software artifacts to which these concepts are applied. Such a mathematical framework could generate a consensus in the software engineering community and provide a means for better communication among researchers, better guidelines for analysts, and better evaluation methods for commercial static analyzers for practitioners. In this paper, we propose a mathematical framework which is generic, because it is not specific to any particular software artifact...
