1. Briefly describe at least one positive experience that you have had as an SI Leader this semester.

The SI experience has encouraged me to be a planned and goal-oriented person. Having a strong use of the sessions planned sheets allowed me to organized specific tasks for the sessions. Therefore, planning events in a timely manner leads to a better preparation in any activity. Moreover, it is a satisfactory experience having the chance of helping the students to achieve their goals. But also, sharing time with the students has been the opportunity to learn and listen opinions from a variety of cultures. Therefore, this reinforces my basic knowledge about Economics.

2. What were some specific challenges you faced this semester as an SI Leader? …show more content…
This would have a perfect framework to clarify advantages and points to improve.

11. What additional academic support (not including Supplemental Instruction) did students utilize in this class? Did the support options affect attendance for SI? Did they affect your role as an SI Leader? If so, how?

Besides the SI program, the Econ 144 students had the assistance of their Teacher Assitanstants, Dr. Staihr and Dr. Staihr assistant Sam Carroll. From my point of view, the additional academic support did not affect the SI sessions. This academic support offered complementary help in terms of how to study the class. This provide a closer interaction with the students because the support goes further of providing an economics class. That closed relationship allows recognizing strong and weak points for the students. As a reference, some students prefer using math’s to have a better understanding of some topics. Besides that, I think the supports were provided at different times frames

12. Is there anything about your experience as an SI Leader that we have not asked you about, that you would like to

...of internal weaknesses than colonial repression.” Is this an accurate reflection of the Southeast Asian nationalist movements during the inter-war period? WAS IT BECAUSE COLONIAL POWERS TOO SUPRESSIVE THAT LED TO FAILURE OF NATIONALIST ACTIVITIES? NO, IT WAS BECAUSE COLONIAL POWERS WERE NOT SUPRESSIVE THAT ALSO LED TO THE WEAK NATIONALIST MOVEMENTS!! Identified time-frame: 1919-1942 1st Point- Yes, this is true 2nd Point- No, colonial repression did some damage too 3rd Point- List third factor, failure of nationalist movements due to LACK of colonial repression, ultimately leading to weaker/no nationalist movements Both internal weaknesses and colonial repression were the main factors that held back the emergence of nationalism and hampered its transformation into modern nationalism in Southeast Asia before 1914. However, by comparing the strengths of nationalist movements across the various countries, this essay will show the failure of the Southeast Asian nationalist movements were more of a problem of internal weaknesses than colonial repression. Firstly, internal weaknesses was prevalent across all South-east Asian countries in the inter-war period and manifested inside in many forms, namely between and within parties (ideological divides), between elites and masses, moderates and radicals, majority and minority groups (ethnicity, religion) and even between individual nationalist leaders. Internal weaknesses posed a great obstacle to the development of nationalism...

Sharmi (Charisma) What is charisma? In Dubrins book on leadership he suggests that charisma “involves a relationship between the leader and the people being led”6. He furthermore points to the importance of “management by inspiration” as he calls it and he point to the different communication styles of a charismatic leader7. In essence, charisma is a key aspect of leadership, as Dubrin discusses. Steve Jobs is famed for his ability to give speeches and captivate the audience’ attention8. He is able to captivate his employees and audience with the ability of an evangelist. In this respect we can observe that he posses the charismatic abilities that Dubrin demands by communicating his ideas using metaphors and analogies and storytelling9. Chinese Culture

...LE BRAS BIANCHI Oceane CHINESE CULTURE China is a very interesting country with a lot of values, way of life, cultural traditions and customs differed from western countries. In first we will see the filial piety, which is a very important value for Chinese people, the origins and how it is nowadays and in second time, we will see the taboos in China in different categories. To beginning, it is important to know what is the filial piety to talk about that, filial piety means to be good to one's parents; to take care of them, to engage in good conduct not just towards them but also outside the home so as to bring a good name them and ancestors; to perform the duties of one's job well so as to obtain the material means to support them as well as carry out sacrifices to the ancestors. You have to do not be rebellious; show love, respect and support; display courtesy; ensure male heirs, uphold fraternity among brothers; wisely advise them, including dissuading them from moral unrighteousness; display sorrow for their sickness and death; and carry out sacrifices after their death. It supposed to be the normal behavior for all people around the world, but in China, the origin is very deep and ancient. ...Discussion Draft Regaining an Educational Advantage - Investing in the Philippines’ Economic Future Background For decades, the Philippines could boast of being one of the most highly educated developing countries. Its enrollment rates at all levels of education were higher than those of other countries with comparable, or even higher, income levels. But no longer. Any edge that the Philippines might have had in its human capital has eroded as more developing countries – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, as cases in point – have achieved higher enrollment rates even at the secondary level (figure 1). In addition, a large number of children who enter school do not reach the last grade in the cycle—about 30 percent of those who enter grade 1 and about 25 percent of those who enter first year high school. And since transition rates from elementary to high school are still low, the rate of high school completion for children who enter grade 1 is less than 50 percent. But much more troubling than lagging enrollment rates and completion levels is that students do not learn what they are supposed to in schools. One, Filipino eighth-graders performed dismally on international tests given in 1999, ranking 36th of 38 countries in math and science tests (Table 1). Table 1. ...ETIKA PERBANDINGAN MPU2312 SEXUALITY MS. NORIAH Krishna Priyah Chee Long Kok Si Janice Ong Jonathan Chow Justin Bonus Phuah Kah Hock Wang Wei Shen INTRODUCTION In this report we will discuss about sexuality in general such as homosexuality. We will look further into the LGBT community between Asian and Western countries. Homosexuality has been a characteristic of human culture since the course of the 19th century. After the modern gay rights movement that began in 1969, in America, more people around the world started to change their mindset of seeing gay rights as “a mental illness to cure” to having more people trying to understand LGBT through biology, psychology, history and cultural variations of sexual practices and identity. We chose this topic because, gay rights has always been a sensitive topic for Malaysians today, this is mainly due to the fact that the government retains the colonial era penal code criminalizing sodomy and shaped by Islam, the official religion in Malaysia. In addition to the secular law, Muslim citizens may also be charged in special Islamic courts, the Syariah Court. In this report we will discuss the religious perspective of Asian and Western countries about homosexuality. We will go through the meaning of homosexuality in detail and ethical perspectives between Asian countries and western countries. ...The increase in obesity among UK’s population has been a tremendous interest in healthcare since it is seen as one of the principal factor for causing cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes, costing NHS even more (MRC, 2013). The occurrence of obesity has been so common in the overall population that it has become vital for nurses to be up to date with information regarding obesity issues. Nurses should also be able to use those obtained information to prevent and help recognize those who are already obese by providing them with treatment choices and lifestyle changes information. There are many aspects of obesity treatment which require particular expertise and insights and so doing research on it helps students to gain more information and deliver good practice in the future. Therefore, this essay will be focused on bariatric surgery among adult. Case Study 2

...Case Study 2 Jessica Adkins Liberty University February 7, 2016 Performance Appraisals Mrs. Howell will be unable to use the information found within the performance appraisals to decide which employees should be discharged. This is due to the managers failing to complete the appraisals properly. A performance appraisal is defined as “the identification, measurement, and management of human performance in organizations (Luis R. Gomez-Meija, 2016, p. 205) Performance appraisals are generally tools that are used in evaluating an employee’s performance based on the dimensions set by the firm (Luis R. Gomez-Meija, 2016). Performance appraisals supply firms with employee shortcomings once per year, ensure consistency among employees, and recognize valuable employees (Segal, 2000). Performance appraisals are of upmost importance to firms who are facing downsizing since it supplies accurate information for the decision-making process that is required to make employee decisions (Segal, 2000). The firm is facing the issue of performance appraisals having inaccurate information. This inaccurate information is prohibiting Karen Howell from laying off the correct employees. The firm should not layoff any employees until the information found in the appraisals can be more accurate. Requiring the managers to conduct new appraisals is the only way to prohibit the firm from facing legal issues. If the firm is unable to wait for these results then Mrs. Howell will have to use other methods...

...Mid Finals I. Age of Exploration The Age of Exploration or Age of Discovery as it is sometimes called, officially began in the early 15th century and lasted until the 17th century. The period is characterized as a time when Europeans began exploring the world by sea in search of trading partners, new goods, and new trade routes. In addition, some explorers set sail to simply learn more about the world. Whatever their reasons though, the information gained during the Age of Exploration significantly helped in the advancement of geographic knowledge. Reasons for Exploration and Key Voyages Though the desire to simply explore the unknown and discover new knowledge is a typical human trait, the world's famous explorers often lacked the funding needed for a ship, supplies, and a crew to get underway on their journeys. As a result, many turned to their respective governments which had their own desires for the exploration of new areas. Many nations were looking for goods such as silver and gold but one of the biggest reasons for exploration was the desire to find a new route for the spice and silk trades. When the Ottoman Empire took control of Constantinople in 1453, it blocked European access to the area, severely limiting trade. In addition, it also blocked access to North Africa and the Red Sea -- two very important trade routes to the Far East. The first of the journeys associated with the Age of Discovery were conducted by the Portuguese under Prince Henry the Navigator...
