SABINA~

The tragic play starts when the family of Sabina (the tragic hero) prays for her soul even though she is not yet dead. It is because her family except her grandpa, Lolo Berto, can’t accept the fact that she is unconditionally and irrevocably inlove with Mr. George. Mr. George is not a man of her age, and obviously, she and Mr. George turn out to be the subject of the gossips in their town. Her family can’t help it but to talk about it all over again that it is really a big catastrophe for their reputation more than ever to hers. The moment they finished praying, Sabina arrives to the receiving area, but her grandma, Rustika, is not please with her presence, so is her mother, Cleta. Her sister, Ursula, remains silent just like his brother Antero who also remain still except with his cold fury eyes. Only her Lolo Berto delights in her occurrence.

Sabrina creates nuisance to the atmosphere. Likely, Cleta desperately utters to her daughter that Mr. George is not the right man for her. They try to convince and change her mind about that but Sabina remains her thoughts on what she believes her heart dictates. However, Antero also shows his efforts to fix his sister’s malfunctioning brain. Finally, when they get tired explaining the consequences Sabina may face and yet she doesn’t care, Cleta, Ursula, Antero, and Rustika just walk out leaving only Mang Berto and Sabina in their salas.

Sabina asks her grandpa on what he thinks immoral in her choice and decision. With a shake in his head, he tell her that there is nothing wrong on standing still for her happiness as long as she doesn’t hurt or abuse anybody. Delighted, Sabina narrates to her grandfather her moments she can’t forget when she is with Mr. George like a treasured chant. The way she speak every single word, you can say how much she adore and love Mr. George and how much happiness she had when she is with him. While having her head in the clouds, she realizes that Mr. George will going to be there in their house for a few minutes. At the same time, Antero locks the main gate.

Antero and Sabina have their second fight when she pleads her brother to open the gate. Their intense fight almost break Sabina’s lamp. Antero really doesn’t want his sister to meet this guy because he only cares for her sake. But Sabina’s constant disobedience causes him to give up again.

Just when Sabina is alone, Mr. George approaches to her side. They cuddle together showing how much they missed each other. They spend their time with their usual adorable conversation until Sabina has the opportunity to tell Mr. George that she is pregnant. A curved line forms in Sabina’s lips showing her gladness, and in contradictory, Mr. George’s face turns to a mystified and surprised one but he tries to conceal it to her and pretend that he is delighted too.

Sabina can’t refrain from saying this, but she finally tells Mr. George that she actually wants to marry him. And that time, Mr. George can’t hide the anxiety in his head anymore. Straightforward, he concedes to her that what Sabina wants is so impossible for he was already married. At first, a figure of gobsmacked Sabina uncovers. All the precious and wonderful moments in her thoughts perish away because of a sudden realization that the man who is the reason of all these moments just takes advantage of her and everything.

She pushes away Mr. George to leave her alone. When she is, she attempts to talk to her brother, and hardly had she tell him that she now realizes her stupid mistake. But her only hope to cope up with her deep frustration and affliction is now gone when her brother just left her. Only she desires her own happiness that she even sacrificed everything just to have it, and now, what she’s going to do when it seems that everything was already gone? She ends killing herself, finishing herself a tragic end because of her true love, innocence and stupidity. But despite of everything, until her last breath, Mr. George never leaves her side and her family doesn’t really hate her, they just worry. They are not really mad at her, they are just concern. Sad to say, Sabina figured it out far too late.
