On 10-16-2017 at 0938 hours I was dispatched to Sacred Heart School in reference to a student bringing multiple knifes to school.

Upon my arrival I made contact with Monique Gribbins the principal, who informed me of the following:
- J2017-4638A brought multiple knifes to school on 10-13-2017.
- He had showed them to a few kids at school and one of the children told a teacher.
- The teachers checked his bags and located a total of six knifes in his backpack.
- The teachers did not take the knives from him at that time and sent him home with them.
- They have talked with the school attorney and he will be suspended for ten days until the investigation is complete.

I made contact with J2017-4638A and his parents who provided me with the knives

Popular Culture

...for the Beetles. We do not know what may have happened if Beetles hadn’t intervened. The Beatles upstaged the celebrity world of the 1950s with their political views, their youthful thinking, and their projected attitude of not having a care in the world. The Beatles had a passion to get their music out to the masses, and had established themselves as a more down to earth group than their peers. They were approachable where stars like Elvis Presley were not. The Beatles continuously proved themselves to their fans, and were willing to go to whatever lengths were necessary in order to please them. School girls were infatuated with the group keeping pictures of their favorite band member in their lockers. Parents described them as a weird looking group, and they were shocked by their mop top haircuts. Parents had coined it as the rebellion of long hair. Teen boys were kicked out of school for growing out their hair like the Beetles. The fans wanted to be with them, and around them. When the band came to town, the sheer volume of people made their music impossible to hear. The Beatles as seen on a Hard Day’s Night (1964) were viewed as disrespectful, as rebels against the old and the authoritarian. The impression and the message demonstrated by the band, young...

...The Soul of the Great Bell  by Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904) The water-clock marks the hour in the Tachung sz’, in the Tower of the Great Bell: now the mallet is lifted to smite the lips of the metal monster—the vast lips inscribed with Buddhist texts from the sacred Fa-hwa-King, from the chapters of the holy Ling-yen-King! Hear the great bell responding!—how mighty her voice, though tongueless! KO-NGAI! All the little dragons on the high-tilted eaves of the green roofs shiver to the tips of their gilded tails under that deep wave of sound; all the porcelain gargoyles tremble on their carven perches; all the hundred little bells of the pagodas quiver with desire to speak. KO-NGAI—all the green-and-gold tiles of the temple are vibrating; the wooden goldfish above them are writhing against the sky; the uplifted finger of Fo shakes high over the heads of the worshippers through the blue fog of incense! KO-NGAI!—What a thunder tone was that! All the lacquered goblins on the palace cornices wriggle their fire-coloured tongues! And after each huge shock, how wondrous the multiple echo and the great golden moan, and, at last, the sudden sibilant sobbing in the ears when the immense tone faints away in broken whispers of silver, as though a woman should whisper, “Hiai!” Even so the great bell hath sounded every day for well-nigh five hundred years—Ko-Ngai: first with stupendous clang, then with immeasurable moan of gold, then with silver murmuring of “Hiai!” And there is not a child in...

Personal Narrative: My Father And The Dome Of Rock In Jerusalem

...guide talk about the basilica’s history. When I got to the top, there was an impressive and widespread view of the city. You felt closer to the level of the clouds, which can be seen as a few hundred steps closer to God. I always thought to myself that The Lookout was the primary observation deck in Montreal, however was proven that the oratory gives an equally, if not more impressive panoramic view. Many tourists were taking pictures with the view. There was also a basketball team training while we were visiting and I noticed that it was my old coach who is now with the Juvenile Sun Youth Team. I found it interesting to see the variety of reasons for why people were on the basilica’s groups. For example, I witnessed a pilgrim, a city tour, Christian devotees who were attending mass, those at confession, basketball players, and us, students who were taking notes for a project in humanities. Many therefore see these grounds in different ways. In fact, the practicing Catholic see it as a way of reconnecting with their roots, whereas the basketball players see it as a training site. When visiting churches around the world and Montreal, I notice that they have the same or extremely similar fundamental sacred elements such as the stations of the cross, confession boxes, a main crucifix as well as candles that you can light. Most of the churches I’ve visited were rather smaller such as those in closely-knitted villages in the rural areas of Italy, where you walk in and there is one single...

As time pass by, Indonesia becoming a developing country. Which means it has to be more global so it can compete with other countries. By entering the globalization era, Indonesia enters a completely different world. It has to adjust its culture in a lot of aspects, such as language, education, entertainment, etc. Of course there's price to pay for a more modern country. Not only influenced by the good things, but also the bad things. The one example that we will discuss is about sex. Nowadays, people are becoming very familiar with the term sex. Most of people already understand what it is and what it is for. Which is good, but now the problem is, people start to have sex before they get married. We know that western culture allows sex before marriage. Not only that, 98% people there lost their virginity when they are around 15-17. For them, it is almost weird when somebody is still a virgin when they are in college. Which is very contradictory with Indonesian's culture that forbids sex before marriage. Why does that happen? From our observation, we can conclude some reasons that will be discussed in the following chapter. One of the article on the internet...

World Religion Chart

...WORLD RELIGIONS – REL 212 World Religions | WEEK 1INDIGENOUS | The term indigenous is a generalized reference to the thousands of small scale societies who have distinct languages, kinship systems, mythologies, ancestral memories and homelands. These societies comprise more than 200 million people throughout the planet today. | Origin of All Things | Most indigenous peoples have creation stories where they believe the Creator or Great Father in the Sky made the earth, the animals and all humans. | Nature of God/Creator | Many believe that they have lost touch or even forgotten about a Creator that their ancestors knew, but disobeyed. They believe the dark gods of the spirit world are the ones to be afraid of or to placate. Thus they believe that the Creator God, if there is one, is distant, removed and angry with them. | View of Human Nature | Humans are often seen as lost or wandering from a true path that was lost to the ancestors long ago. Many have a special shaman or witch doctor who is supposed to help them connect to the spirit world. | View of Good & Evil | Good and evil are seen as forces that compete for dominance in a person and in the world. ...A TERM PAPER ON GST 111: USE OF ENGLISH TOPIC: THE HISTORY OF MEDICINE WRITTEN BY: UWEM, HOPE OKON REG NO. 08/BA/IN/022 DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE FACULTY OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SUBMITTED TO DR. MRS. DEPARTMENT OF FACULTY OF UNIVERSITY OF UYO, UYO AKWA IBOM STATE, NIGERIA. FEBRUARY, 2012 1. INTRODUCTION All human societies have medical beliefs that provide explanations for birth, death, and disease. Throughout history, illness has been attributed to witchcraft, demons, astral influence, or the will of the gods. These ideas still retain some power, with faith healing and shrines still used in some places, although the rise of scientific medicine over the past millennium has altered or replaced mysticism in most cases. The ancient Egyptians had a system of medicine that was very advanced for its time and influenced later medical traditions. The Egyptians and Babylonians both introduced the concepts of diagnosis, prognosis, and medical examination. The Hippocratic Oath, still taken by doctors today, was written in Greece in the 5th century BCE, Horstmanshoff et al (2004:7). In the medieval era, surgical practices inherited from the ancient masters were improved and then systematized in Rogerius's The Practice of Surgery. During the Renaissance, understanding of anatomy improved, and the invention of the microscope would later lead to the germ theory of disease. These advancements, along with developments in chemistry, genetics...

Patanjali Yoga Sutra

...The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Introduction, Commentaries, and Translation What are the Yoga Sutras and who is Patanjali? Over fifty different English translations of the Yoga Sutras are extant, standing as a human testament to how Universal Truth is celebrated in terms of a rich diversity. Rather than the common and external type of knowledge (emanating from book knowledge), the following translation and commentary are a result of an intimate familiarity and direct experience both with an authentic yogic tradition and with western culture, psychology, and language that has been refined, tested in fire, and integrated for over thirty five years of intense practice (sadhana). This work is dedicated toward revealing the universal message of authentic yoga that the sage, Patanjali, first wrote down approximately 2000 years ago. Patanjali is not the inventor of yoga, but rather yoga's most popularly known scribe. What has become known simply as the "Yoga Sutras" (sutra means thread) or almost equally as common, as the "Yoga Darshana" (the vision of Yoga), is actually a compendium of an ancient pre-existing oral yoga tradition consisting of both practical advice and theoretical context. The most accepted format of the Yoga Sutras consists of four chapters (called padas) written in the Sanskrit language approximately 2000 years ago in Northern India while utilizing the terminology of the time, i.e., Samkhya philosophical trappings. The dates ascribed to the Yoga Sutras...

Local Literature About Black Nazarene

...Local Literature The Black Nazarene is a life-sized, dark-colored, wooden sculpture of Jesus Christ held to be miraculous by many people, especially its Filipino devotees. Its original carver is an anonymous Mexican carpenter, and the image was transported by galleon from Mexico. The image is currently enshrined in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila, Philippines where novena celebrations are held every Friday throughout the whole year. Roman Catholic tradition holds that the Black Nazarene came from a boat that caught fire, turning it from its original white into black or charred complexion. The Black Nazarene is carried into the streets for procession in a "Caroza" or carriage. Alisa Pierson (2011) quoted that Most Americans are aware that the Philippines is comprised of Catholics, but Catholicism and spirituality in the Philippines extends beyond just being Catholic. In fact the way religion is practiced in the Philippines is very unique in comparison to the form Christianity takes in the west or other areas of the globe. Filipino Catholicism is practiced alongside and influenced by pre-colonial indigenous religions and indigenous Filipino concepts that are found in other areas of Southeast Asia. To understand how Christianity is practiced in the Philippines it is important to look at the unique ways Filipinos manifest their spirituality, how gender...
