It was the year 1850 when our parents died of Tuberculosis. Sarah was 12, and I was 20 when they died. Our father was a lawyer, and was very successful at it, and our mother stayed home and looked after the house, and us. When they died, they left their fortune to Sarah, since she was always the favorite child, and left her in my custody. As long as she was in my custody, the inheritance would be mine.
