Throughout my four years of high school, I have had to make significant sacrifices. During my freshman year of high school I joined the girl’s soccer team, but I also joined a program that involved getting a hands on experience with my future career. That being said, I had to sacrifice soccer in order to be more available with the program and attend the usual meeting that were being held weekly. The sacrifices I had to make in high school were significant to me because I changed the direction of my focus towards something that would benefit me in the future. In a day of many mistakes, this would turn out to be a crucial one,” (224). Krakauer mistakenly left a fellow climber, with his vision getting worse, on the mountain. This became a struggle for Krakauer because he could have made the decision of speaking up and letting him know that it would take a long time for Groom to make his way down towards him and for him to then carry the weight of both of them as he short-roped him. As a young adult, I have been self-reliant in the choices I made by letting myself be guided towards the correct path. I was influenced by many advisors in the program I was involved in; being involved, I learned based off what they taught me and it allowed for my confidence to boost up.
