I believe there was also some interference of his inconsistent use of medication on his mood. 3.21. In session-5, when he disclosed something huge I was not ready so I was struggling inside that how to respond that. So all I could say was ‘I am shocked’. Moreover, I went to a rescuer’s place, almost trying to protect him from feeling shame and guilt. I was not satisfied with what happened so I took it to supervision after the session and was able to reflect that I was not so shocked about the content of what client brought but more surprised as I was not ready for this huge disclosure. Moreover, through supervision I learned that in my rescuer’s mode I was...

...“Change is not merely necessary to life - it is life.” Changes and adaptation is the vital part of everyone’s' life and one should always be ready to accept the coming in the way. Being open to changes is a great benefit as sometimes "What You Wants Turns Out to be Not What You Wanted". In such cases in spite of having complaining attitude lets welcome the new changes in life. Don't regret from past. Learn from it and become more vigilant in making a choice in future. In this Agile world, most people have fear from change, not in the sense that change is negative, but because it is unknown. Therefore, the comfort zones that have been established will no longer be applicable. In personal or professional life try to be the best version of yourself. For example people you thought were going to be there forever aren't there anymore. It does not means that people change. It’s just that there role changes according to time or situation. As quoted by Mahatma Buddha “ Everything changes, nothing remains without change”. Life is just like weather sometimes too bad to resist and sometimes pleasant to enjoy. If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living. Don't be afraid of changes, you may lose something good but probably end up gaining something much better. It is true. The only constant in life is change. From the day that we are born we em-barque on the journey of endless change, better known as the journey of life. Our lives...

...English 102 The New Yorker by James Salter This story at first was sad, but the ending left me with the expression of what is going on! The introduction and reading along the way was kind of reminding me of the movie the notebook because the love of his love was about to die and he was in so much pain. The memories they made with each other. To think that he would be the one actually inserting the venom in his wife’s vein so she could die. What’s funny is she seemed calm, she knew that this day was going to come someday. Susanna was like the one who is interfering with everything. Merit knows there was something up with her husband and Susanna. It was an affair. A typical guy cheating on his wife and to make it more cruel Merit was on the verge of death. It was like Merit’s death is a chance for Walter and Susanna to be together with no regrets. Death is something you can’t prevent. It’s something we all are afraid to reach and don’t want to reach at all. When people think of death they’re thinking either hell or heaven. The afterlife is something we can’t actually talk about because we don’t know what it is. People who reach the afterlife would want be in a place where they can be peaceful and rest forever in eternity. “Certain memories are what you long to take with you”. (Salter, James, pg.2). A line nicely and beautifully said. During life memories are made, bad and good ones. A memory you’ll remember even when you are on the verge of...

...from his mother. * At the age of 22 Hardy moved to London and started to write poems. These early poems praised country life. Yet Hardy didn’t publish his poems until he was 58. He was 60 when he wrote this poem. * Hardy wrote over 900 poems in his lifetime. * Hardy’s poems are straight to the point and sometimes gloomy in outlook. In this poem he finds a source of hope when a thrush suddenly starts to sing. * Hardy’s most common theme is about the way people struggle against fate. * Hardy's themes also include rural life and nature, love, change, time, loss and death. * Hardy’s tone is usually ironic; that is he sees the unexpected twists and surprises of life. The twist in this poem is that when the poet was in a sad mood due to winter a weak old thrush caused him to feel hope. * Most of Hardy’s poetry is relatively simple and yet skilful. However, some of his poetic writing can be difficult due to old-fashioned words and phrases. * Hardy loves to think in surprising images that appeal to the reader’s intelligence. * Hardy’s poems tend to be descriptive, lyrical, and regular in form. He is a poet who likes even lines and a set rhyme scheme. We see this in ‘The Darkling Thrush’. * It is very important to note that in this poem the poet is alone and is enjoying his loneliness. He is experiencing a type of sweet sorrow. He is gloomy but he likes being gloomy. He has chosen his spot at the gate, and opted not to go inside. * He soaks up...

...Play of Choice I chose to read The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams as my play of choice. I wanted to read another play by Williams because I was really impressed with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. As in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, this story centers on a rather dysfunctional family, the Winfield’s. Amanda Wingfield is a single mother to her two children Tom and Laura. That concept is rather ahead of its time, as the play takes place in 1937. Tom is the narrator of the play which is referred to as a “memory” play, as it comes from his memory and perspective. I liked the fact that the play had a narrator. It gave more depth to his character and I feel that any time something is narrated you receive more information. It is also much easier to read a play that is narrated because less is left to your imagination. Our textbook had very good information on set design for this play. It included pictures from an actual production and also gave an artists’ rendering of the Broadway set design. The entire play is set in the tenement apartment of the Wingfields’ which was nice. Because the entire play was set there, it gave me plenty of time to imagine the details of the set. I began to form pictures in my mind of the apartment and the fire escape. I will call Laura Wingfield the main character of the play. It is her that the story seems to revolve around. The character of Laura is one that I believe any audience can have empathy for. She is a “cripple”, a term that her mother despises...

...classes in NJROTC, I had learned a lot about nuclear weapons and became very interested in them. I wish we could’ve talked a little more about that specific part in the war. It shows the technology we developed at that time and how desperate we were to the end the war. The war required desperate measures and Truman understood that. You have a game changer in your hands and you had to make the choice of how people had to die at that time in order to prevent any further casualties. I would like to have lived in the Renaissance time period if I had the option; because all that period had was just constant discovery and knowledge. I would expect myself to have problems with the ending of that period and change mostly. I can’t really think of myself having problems in the actual time period just the end of it would be sad and disappointing. I actually really enjoyed learning a lot about George Washington. Before this class all I really knew about him and retained from previous class was that he was our first president. I didn’t know he had so many close chances at being killed; I didn’t know how lucky he was. He was a very respectable man, and his resolve to fight for his country’s independence is something to marvel at. I feel like I got my money’s worth out of the class, the teacher was very knowledgeable and...

...starts out rough and you get into lots of trouble stay away from the suicidal thoughts. You have got to believe and keep fighting through it with a mindset that things will begin to improve. Ending your life is never the answer to anything whether it is good or bad. If you step up your game now think about how enjoyable life can be shortly after you fight through the tough situation that you are stuck in right now. Bottom line is just because you do something that you regret (which we all do) committing suicide is never the right decision to make. At the start of the novel Tyler is finishing his summer parole duties of working with the janitors which he earned form committing the earlier crime. At the beginning of the school year he is enrolled in lots of AP classes which is a bad thing because he just starts blowing all of them causing his to be catastrophically low. Bethany who I mentioned before begins to show affection towards Tyler which completely throws him off guard. While he is talking with Bethany later she invites him to a Halloween party later that evening. Once at the party Tyler finds Bethany to be half drunk as she greets him at the door. Bethany being drunk and unaware of what she is doing begins to do something that Tyler realizes is bad, and he stops her even though he regrets it, yet knowing it’s the right thing to do. ...Claralyn Hapin COM33 Reaction Paper Film: Sana Dati directed by Jerrold Tarog Sana Dati tells the story of Andrea and her past revisited at the day of her wedding. I never expected that this film could be incredibly amazing. I would like to commend the director of this film who not only directed but also wrote, edited, and scored the film. Tayog made use of the combination of his skills to come up with such a brilliant film. It is not film of a typical love story with a happy ending that we usually see, but a love story mirroring reality. /for me, the simplicity of this film made it to have more impact to the audience. Everything is natural because of how the story was put into action. The acting is heartfelt, the script is striking, the cinematography is beautiful, and the direction is simply masterful. Somehow this film is an anti-love story but I can say that this is what reality may bring us. We may not agree but it is communicable because we may also experience it. Sana Dati is not a film about winners. The heart of Sana Dati lies with the losers, the ones we tend to forget when the most intense statements about love have already been declared. It is about Andrea, whose life goes on despite the tragedy of her one true love perishing. It is about Dennis, who is about to marry a girl who does not love him. It is about Andrew, who stirs trouble in somebody else’s romantic affairs. If I were at Andrea’s situation I would also do what she did. I felt the pain of the character...

...The Waltz The Waltz, a short story by Dorothy Parker, tells the story of an unnamed woman’s complaint with a dance partner. The pair meets at a party, when all the other dance partners are unavailable. The woman complains about the way the Man dances. Everything the man does, from the way he looks, to the steps he takes, to his cockiness makes her upset. However, the woman does not say anything to her partner. She struggles silently and it is only the reader who knows why the woman is upset. The story ends and after the dance, and the woman never reveals her thoughts or feelings. The story is an allegory because it tells a story through the story. Parker writes about a dance, but the dance represents more then the dance between the two characters. The dance expresses the relationship that women and men have. The woman, never wanted to talk to the man, but she is forced to. The woman didn’t want to dance with the man but she is forced to. The woman didn’t make mistakes while dancing, but after dancing with him she is forced to lie and say she did. The main character is never able to tell her partner her thoughts about the man’s character and behavior. The waltz is a dance complete by two partners. The male and female dancers both have parts to this dance and they both need to work together and work separately in order to make the dance a beautiful one. However, in the woman’s perspective, the man is unable to be a good partner because of the way he acts. He is very forward...

...u The Subjunctive Introduction Of all the conjugations that Spanish has, the subjunctive is probably the most difficult one. The objective of this work is to explain this tense as easily as possible. The explanation will be divided in two parts. The first part is a summary for students who want to receive a practical explanation, and the second part is a deep explanation of this tense. Summary WEIRDO The most common reason why the subjunctive can be so difficult for English speakers is because there is not a similar tense in English. It is a structure that is used only whenever certain expressions are used. Think it this way, you use it when you want to express a desire for something to occur but only someone else can make it happen. This acronym can help you understand in which cases the subjunctive should be used. W - wish/will E - Emotion/opinion I - Impersonal expressions (es importante que..., es necesario que...) R - Request D - Doubt/Denial O - Ojalá The structure of sentences using the subjunctive is usually the following. Noun + WEIRDO expression + que + the someone else who could make your desire happen + the subjunctive verb conjugated according to the someone else person + the end of the sentence. Note: The Noun and the “someone else” who make the action do not need to be written since the conjugation of the verb can tell us who we are talking about. (Yo) quisiera que (tú) juegues conmigo. Yo and tú could be interpreted because...

...REFLECTION/ REACTION PAPER After watching the movie in the cinema, I decided to compare Jay Gatsby from Francisco Reteche. When I first saw Gatsby, I already noticed one similarity that I can pair with Reteche wherein they were both mysterious in the starting part of the story and we could not predict what were they thinking. There were still some similarities that I noticed between the two of them like their main problem was about a girl wherein they wanted to be with a certain girl who left them. They were both sad and broken-hearted with the respective girls that they loved hooked up with another men. In the story Zita, Reteche was living alone since his girlfriend left him, as well as in the movie, Jay Gatsby was also living alone since he left his family when he was sixteen years old to earn a living. And lastly, the reason on why Zita from the city and Daisy left Reteche and Gatsby was similar wherein Zita from the city left Reteche because he was just an ordinary man and Zita from the city wanted a rich man, so she left him and clung to a rich guy, while Daisy did not wait for Gatsby anymore because before when there where still a spark between them, Gatsby used to be a nobody, so Daisy married Tom because she felt more secured with Tom because of his wealth and stability in life. I noticed only few differences between Reteche and Gatsby wherein I can say that there were more similarities between them in terms of how the story revolves. The first difference that...

...how they want to go about their life without thinking much of others but thinking about how they want to end their life. Just because someone dies, does not mean they have failed. Most people look at death and believe it to be an extremely sad and depressing topic, I’m here to say that it doesn't have to be. Death is a time to look back on the memories made and remember why you loved that one person so much, and what they did to make their mark in your life. Its a time to remember the good times in both of your lives and laugh about the things you did with each other. When you look back at someone’s life, you don't want to picture and remember them as a thing just laying in a hospital looking like they are suffering every second of every day. “Spending one’s final days in an ICU because of terminal illness is for most people a kind of failure” (155). You can only fail at life when you finish it with regret and suffering. If you're stuck on machines in the hospital for your last breaths you don't die happy and potentially regret many things because you're thinking about all of the things you could have done and are dwelling on the life you could have lived but didn’t. Too many people die like this everyday, they die unhappy and full of regret. When you think about the things you could have done when you had the change, it causes a slower, more painful death. Not only are you thinking about it but your family begins to take on shame for not doing more with you and really appreciating...
