His father Theodorus Van Gosh was a minister and his mother, Anna Cornelia Carbentus was none other than an artist herself. The couple was determined to have a child named Vincent Van Gogh as Van Gogh was born exactly one year after the still birth of his brother whom his parents also named Vincent. They seemed to have very few issues in this area though as they went on to have six children total. Van Gogh is known to have struggles within himself but I imagine from the very beginning that it would be hard to see your name and exact birthday (one year older) on a tombstone. Maybe this could have a factor or play some sort of role in the emotional pains experienced by him. At the age of 15 Van Gogh was forced to quit school and begin working due to his family's finances and struggles. He started working for his uncle Cornelis at his art dealership/gallery called Goupil & Cie which is a firm of art dealers is the Hague. Although Vincent Van Gogh dropped out of school he still managed to become fluent in French, German...

...Vincent Willem Van Gogh, born March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundert, Netherlands, made paintings that are among the most treasured objects in our world today. But during his lifetime Vincent Van Gogh was unnoticed, every one of his works were ignored. In his time Vincent was a normal peasant of the middle class, and spoke four languages, Dutch, German, English, and French, while also studying Greek and Latin, but refused to accept the use of those languages. In 1885, he drew what he considered to be his first major work, The Potato Eaters. After that he continued to use depressive earth tones. From doing all these paintings with these colors, is what may have led to his self-inflicted gunshot wound. Van Gogh suffered from frequent depression and...

...I am just finishing a two-year proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Letter-Day Saints, in Tucson Arizona. Previously in my life I have earned my Eagle-Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America organization, which gave me many opportunities to serve my community over years with my troop. In attaining the Eagle rank I also organized a large service project making blankets for the local L'Chayim of Galt women's shelter, which took over 100 man-hours to execute, and about 20 hours personally. I chose this as my project because my family has been involved with L'Chayim for fifteen years, and I had spent many days making baby hats, assisting my mother making quilts, and helping at their yearly fund-raisers. Finally I have volunteered at local food banks and charities in Tucson over the last two years, including over fifty hours in the food bank at the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Safford, Arizona, and over fourty-five hours at The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. These and other experiences with volunteer work have led me to appreciate more the need we have for educational opportunity and financial help, which has contributed largely to my career...

...PABLO PICASSO Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso known as Pablo Ruiz Picasso ; 25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973) was a Spanish expatriatepainter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer, one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. He is widely known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937), a portrayal of the German bombing of Guernica during theSpanish Civil War. The enormous body of Picasso’s work remains, and the legend lives on—a tribute to the vitality of the “disquieting” Spaniard with the “sombre…piercing” eyes who superstitiously believed that work would keep him alive. For nearly 80 of his 91 years Picasso devoted himself to an artistic production that contributed significantly to and paralleled the whole development of modern art in the 20th century. Picasso’s art from the time of the Demoiselles was radical in nature, virtually no 20th-century artist could escape his influence. Moreover, while other masters such as Matisse or Braque tended to stay within the bounds of a style they had developed in their youth, Picasso continued to be an innovator into the last decade of his life. This led to misunderstanding and criticism both in his lifetime and since, and it was only in the...
