The cause and treatment of Salmonella Poisioning how it effects [Check spelling--"effect" is a noun, the result of some action (The effect of the weather can be mood changes); "affect" is a verb--it acts on something (Weather is affecting human moods)] a person in a short amount of time. Salmonella is an infection that attacks the lining of the small intestine. Salmonella can enter the small intestine and inflame the lining that may cause diarrhea. Salmonella may last only 7 days, depending on the severity of the case. Some of the most common symptoms for salmonella are , [Punctuation: Avoid leaving a space before a comma] stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea, and fever or headaches. You are treated by putting fluids back in your body that have been lost from diarrhea, or nausea. In some cases antibiotics are given to help treat salmonella. You may need to stay in the hospital if you have become dehydrated, and be given fluids intravenously to out back the fluids you have lost. That mainly happens in a severe case of salmonella poisoning. To prevent a reoccurance of the salmonella poisoning, always wash your hands after going to the bathroom, and cleaning the surface that chicken, or raw meat has been on thoroughly. Make sure to wash fresh fruit, and vegetables with warm water, to remove any type of salmonella that may be on them. Be sure to avoid sharing drinking glasses, or eating utensils with others that may have come been infected with salmonella. You are advised to drink plenty of liquids, and to take a medication to stop the diarrhea. You should always cook foods such as chicken, pork, and eggs completely to avoid contracting the salmonella poisoning. Always clean all surfaces that raw meat has come in contact with. These are just some of the foods that may contain salmonella. You should always wash your hands after coming in contact with animals, or going to the restroom. This keeps the risk of salmonella down. A few weeks ago I had to take my mother to the hospital for salmonella poisoning. She was very sick and had diarrhea and nausea to the point that she had dehydrated in 30 minutes. She had bought some cucumbers, and instead washing the before peeling them, she just peeled them and ate them. It had salmonella on the peeling and it got on her hands. They had to give her fluids before they would let her leave the hospital. She fully recovered, but it was a really bad experience for her. She will always wash them from now on. They sent her home with antibiotics, and advised her to drink clear liquids the next day, as opposed to trying to eat any solid foods. She was weak and needed to stay in the bed for a couple of days. I am glad to say that she is doing to wonderful ["wonderful" is acceptable as an intensifier, but remember the word means "causing to pause in wonder (awe)"] today. It was a scary thing to have to go through.
