Abstract

This paper will explore the causes issues and solutions for the Salton Sea from reports by scientists. There are many different issues that plague this Sea in southern California and many of theses issues do not seem to have an solution in sight. Because this Sea is man made there are many differing opinions on what to do with the Salton Sea, let it dry up or try and Save it. This paper examines the Salton Sea through a variety of different sources to try and figure out what went wrong and what kind of solutions are available to help save the Salton Sea.

However, this mistake was a good one for several years. This mistake created the Salton Sea, California's largest body of water. The Salton seas' salt ratio is double that of the Pacific ocean(FitzGerald,2016). During the 1950s developers saw this area as prime development turning this mistake into a bustling paradise for retirees and yacht clubs(Press, 2015). This sea also provided a large body of water for agricultural uses and the run off from irrigation kept the lake from drying up. But as time went on the condition of the sea slowly deteriorated. Flood during the 1980 and 70s destroyed much of the infrastructure and most of the people living there decided to just move. Soon due to advances and agriculture in the 90s the sea began to dry up quicker then …show more content…
As time went these pollutants began to build up, along with the pollutants, the agriculture business became more efficient with the amount of runoff that the farms produced(FitzGerald,2016). Because of this efficiency, the sea began to slowly dry up. Over the past years, the water level in the sea had dropped dramatically. This drop in water and the lack of new water coming in to replace it is causing the sea to become extremely salty.

Water Drainage Techniques

...Water drainage techniques, materials, processes and maintenance (Name of Student) (Name of Institution) Water drainage techniques, materials, processes and maintenance Under ordinary conditions rain water seeps into the ground and forms underground water. Most of the water that falls as rain soaks into the ground or gets carried away by rivers. But in urban areas, the built environment alters the natural drainage of water, with hard surfaces increasing both the rate and amount of rainwater that turns into run-off. And it has to go somewhere. Traditional piped ‘drains’ have a limited capacity to cope with the high levels of surface water generated by extreme rainfall events. And, when the capacity of one or more parts of the drainage system is exceeded, the worst happens. For example, in the floods of June 2007, extreme rainfall in the Midlands and the north of England led to large-scale urban flooding, with over 55,000 properties affected: two thirds of these were from surface water run-off overloading drainage systems. In addition to flood risk, large amounts of surface water run-off can cause water quality problems. As water runs over hard urban surfaces, it picks up pollutants that are washed into water courses. For example, run-off from roads contains heavy metals and hydrocarbons which can seriously impact on water quality. A well planned drainage infrastructure helps to manage water run-off by preventing domestic...

Data Mining

...A Statistical Perspective on Data Mining Ranjan Maitra∗ Abstract Technological advances have led to new and automated data collection methods. Datasets once at a premium are often plentiful nowadays and sometimes indeed massive. A new breed of challenges are thus presented – primary among them is the need for methodology to analyze such masses of data with a view to understanding complex phenomena and relationships. Such capability is provided by data mining which combines core statistical techniques with those from machine intelligence. This article reviews the current state of the discipline from a statistician’s perspective, illustrates issues with real-life examples, discusses the connections with statistics, the differences, the failings and the challenges ahead. 1 Introduction The information age has been matched by an explosion of data. This surfeit has been a result of modern, improved and, in many cases, automated methods for both data collection and storage. For instance, many stores tag their items with a product-specific bar code, which is scanned in when the corresponding item is bought. This automatically creates a gigantic repository of information on products and product combinations sold. Similar databases are also created by automated book-keeping, digital communication tools or by remote sensing satellites, and aided by the availability of affordable and effective storage mechanisms – magnetic tapes, data warehouses and so on. This has created a situation...

Supernatural by Brother Branham

...Supernatural: The Life of William Branham Book 6: The Prophet and His Revelation 1960 – 1965 by Owen Jorgensen 1 Acknowledgments: In a project of this magnitude, it is understandable that I should owe many people a debt of gratitude for their help. First of all I want to thank Pearry Green for his vision, his encouragement and his efforts in publishing and distributing these books. I also want to thank Saundra Miles, David Buckley, Jay Weber, and the other people who spent many hours editing and proof reading the six manuscripts in this series. Their suggestions helped to make this a better book and a more accurate account of William Branham‘s life. Also, I want to thank Steven and Kathy Strooh, who put these books into audio format for all those people who would rather listen than read. I must certainly thank those people who have translated these books into their native languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Russian, Norwegian, Hindi, and many other languages. Supernatural: the Life of William Branham took me 17 years to complete. I was 34 when I started and 51 when I finished. To put that into perspective, my four children were in grade school when I began writing this biography. By the time I finished, three of my children were married and I had nine grandchildren. During the 17 years I worked on this project, my life had its ups and downs. I want to thank everyone who prayed for me during those 17 years. Finally I want to thank my four children—Benaiah...
