...DeAngelo Williams Mrs. Randall English 1102 20Apirl 2013 Finning a means of communication In today’s society, we have become more pre-occupied in our everyday lives with things such as work, school, and family. Sometimes we even have what seems like no time for anyone, not even those we love and care about. There is a rather shocking lack of communication between people in our rapidly advancing generation. In Paul Dooley and Winnie Holzman’s play Post-Its (Notes on a Marriage), we watch as two young people who are in love and newly married, begin to leave each other post its notes when they have no time for communication with one another. The author successfully tells an amazing love story using a unique means of communication. According to Anne Maydan Nicotera, “communication is critical to inter-personal relationships” (Nicotera). The notes vary from topics such as one not wanting to wake the other as they leave early for work, for tasks that need to be completed throughout the day. The audience, through the reading of the post- its notes views the couple’s life as it goes through the early stages of a relationship, to having a child, to a downhill slide of their relationship, the steady reconstruction of a marriage, and eventually it goes on until one of the two passes on. By leaving these post-its notes, the unnamed couple manages to have a basis of communication upon which they both are able to agree upon. They manage to find a convenient and effective way to convey...

...chosen to study “Post-Its (Notes on Marriage)” by Winnie Holzman and Paul Dooley. This is a short drama in which a man and a woman go through some ups and downs in their relationship and it is being told by the post-it notes they left for each other. I believe this piece of literature is important because it shows the little details in a person’s life and how they add up together. It is a great example in how such few little details can add up to how much you love someone. I have chosen this because I enjoy drama, character development, and it’s ending. This is a drama that may seem “basic” but it holds so much depth in it when it is given complete attention. This text is also extremely relatable because the characters are referred to as “man” and “woman”. Therefore, it can be anyone, which allows the text to become more personal to the audience. This drama starts off with a cute and comedic banter between a man and a woman. As they both enter the room and approach the table, the man notices that the woman does not sit down because she is waiting for him to pull out her chair, so he does. After she is seated, the man stands and waits by his chair. The woman realizes what he wants and after a while goes to seats him as he did her. After this, the man reads the first post-it., “Had an early meeting, couldn’t bear to wake you. Close front door hard or it won’t lock. P.S: Last night was incredible” (Dooley and Holzman 1). The fact that it starts this way lets the audience know that...

...In the reading about Thucydides, it discusses two topics during the Peloponnesian War. One of them is between Melo and Athens and their dialog, while the other is about the revolution of Corcyraeans. Both of these topics are discussed by Thucydides which shows the beliefs of realism worldview, these views on realism are still relevant in modern day when it comes to the foreign policy during times of genocides, and Obama’s foreign policy. In the textbook Why Politics Matters: An Introduction to Political Theory by Kevin Dooley and Joseph Patten it discusses classic realism and the basis for it. Realism is the view that human nature lacks morals, selfish, and seeks power. Philosophers who believe in such are, Machiavelli, Hobbes, and Thucydides...
