Business ethics on same-sex relationships has been established by diverse organizations, to ensure that the rights of employees in an organization have been protected. There are rules and guidelines, which, are also laid down to ensure that there is no discrimination of individuals in the organization who have been considered to have relationships of the same-sex in the company. The discriminations that have been analyzed to face individuals engaged in same-sex relationship, in the organizational environment include discrimination on insurance benefits, conditioning promotion and demotion among others.
Business ethics are meant to ensure that there is no discrimination of individuals in the organization despite the difference in sex relationships, race, religion, color, age, national origin, and disability among others. In a case where individuals have a relationship in the organization, the company should ensure that they are all treated equally. This will help in ensuring that the individuals in the various departments work effectively and as expected from them, which will also help in the growth and development processes of the organization (Beauchamp and Childress, 25).
Research indicates that some employees have been discriminated because of having same-sex relationships in an organization, which has led to the employees withdrawing from their work. This is based of the environmental conditions experienced by individuals, for instance demotion, and conditional promotion among others.
The business environment forms the ethics of the company governing individuals in the company. Therefore, the business ethics are sometimes affected by the society since most of the communities prohibit same-sex relationships. However, the human resource management team should ensure that the rights of their workers have been maintained (Angel, Goldberg and Stolper, 34).

Same Sex Relationships

...a never ending debate about same-sex relationships. Typically the acceptance of this idea can go one way or another. In Stephan Mays’ article, “What about Gender Roles in Same-Sex relationships” he states that right away that “imposing gender roles on gay couples is even more ridiculous than doing so with a straight couple” (Mays 718). In this short article Mays talks mostly about traditional gender roles that society has drilled into our heads; gender roles such as men are tall and women are petite and thin, men can only play masculine sports and woman should not, and my personal favorite, men earn all the money and the woman stay at home to clean and take care of the kids. Throughout this article Mays talks passionately about how we need to, as a society, overcome these stereotypes and accept the person as they are. Overall, I think that Stephan May’s article has the perfect blend of pathos, logos, and ethos to make his article effective and efficient. In Stephan Mays’ article “What about Gender Roles in Same-Sex Relationships” he talks about how society should not look at people by their sexual orientation but look at them as a person. He opens his article with a personal experience he had walking on the sidewalk. He listened in on two people having a conversation about spotting two gay men walking together. While listening closely he heard the two girls comment on the gay couple’s gender roles; “Who do you think is the girl in the relationship?” He then goes on to explain...

Same Sex Marrage

...Same Sex Marriage Throughout the government we have the freedom to act on many things. Such as the freedom of speech, the freedom to practice our own beliefs, and the freedom of choice, but when it comes to the same sex population the government denies these freedoms by not allowing them the choice to marry their significant other. Within this essay I hope to shed some light on how it may affect a same sex partnership not being able to join in matrimony, but also how the government and religion play a part in denying these rights to the same sex society. If we were to sincerely look in to the lives of a same sex couple we would see the same things we go through as straight couples; we love one another, we fight with each other, we are passionate about our other half, and we are dedicated to our relationships. When we deny the acceptance of these emotions and actions we are taking away what it is to be in a relationship. We are becoming what we teach our children not to be. We ourselves are bullies. In doing so we are hurting many same sex couples by taking their lives away and their self-worth. Telling them they are wrong, they are sinners, and we band them to hell, but really what for, what is the true reasoning behind it? Is this really what God wanted? While we think about our government we think that it is unbiased and they are doing what is best for our country, but that seems to not be as true for the same sex community. Day after day they have to face...

...Should Same Sex Couples be allowed to adopt? Tanisha Culberson 08/30/2015 Should Same Sex Couples be allowed to adopt? Society's image of a perfect family includes a father and a mother of the opposite sex. People feel this is what's best for a child. What a bunch of baloney this is just a stereotype. What happened to the best interest of the child? Why are there so many same-sex couples getting rejected by adoption agencies? Why are there so many children being kicked out of the school system because they have gotten too old. In the United States, more than 397,122 children are waiting to be adopted. Approximately 2,000,000 same-sex couples are interested in adopting, but religious groups are against it, and a lot of adoption agencies associated with different religious groups. Most religious groups feel as though same-sex couples should not even marry. They believe in God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, who gave them the right to judge? Same-sex couple's path to parenting is not easy. It depends on state laws and lots of money. In addition to same-sex adoption, it could help move children out of the welfare system, which would create more money for the state. Homosexual parents are more motivated and committed because they are parents by choice, not by accident. How many children are placed up for adoption by opposite sex couples? How many children are up for adoption by same-sex couples? Sexual orientation does not influence good parenting. People should...

Same Sex Marriage

...Research paper: Same-sex Marriage Petra Jerabkova Sociology 316: Marriage and Family Dr. Alston April 10, 2014 The legalization of same-sex marriage has been a battle that has been raging since the late twentieth century. By not allowing same-sex marriage, the United Sates are creating discrimination against same-sex couples. People of faith are the biggest advocates against same-sex marriages. With the belief that marriage is the foundation for procreation, same-sex couples, without the ability to have their own child, should not be allowed the right of marriage. Seeing that there are many rights and responsibilities associated with marriage, same-sex couples are denied these and are being discriminated against. Same-sex couples are denied the right to make decisions regarding their partner’s health and medical treatment. This emotional trauma, as well as the inability to adopt one another’s children, is experienced by same-sex couples every day. Although many states have adopted civil unions, they are separate and unequal. Same-sex marriage should be legalized to create equality and eliminate the injustice involving same-sex couples. In early times, same-sex marriage was not considered taboo and in many cultures, it was encouraged. Random History (2011) explains that in the early civilizations of Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt, the union between couples of the same-sex was recognized by the kingdom. During Greek’s early years, attraction between...

Gay Marriage vs Traditional

...Traditional Relationships and Same Sex Relationships: Are They Really That Different? According to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center “49% of Americans are in support of same sex marriage. What is more interesting is that 70% of the Millennial Generation (people born after 1980) are in support of same sex marriage.” While these numbers have significantly increased over the years and it looks like the younger generation is becoming much more accepting of gay marriage there are still many out there who oppose it. This makes us wonder, how different is a homosexual and a heterosexual relationship? Honestly, there are not a lot of concrete differences. Homosexual relationships can be just as long lasting as a heterosexual relationship. The love that a homosexual feels for their partner is just as strong as their heterosexual counterpart. A same sex couple is just as capable of supporting and a raising a child. The major difference that exists between homosexual and heterosexual relationships is the fact that marriage is still not legal in all states. This poses an issue for homosexuals because they are denied many rights that heterosexuals are granted. While homosexual and heterosexual relationship are different they are also surprisingly similar. A stereotype exists in our society that same sex partnerships are not as long lasting as heterosexual relationships or that homosexuals do not desire to be in a committed relationship. This stereotype has been disproven...

Gay Marriage Rights and Benefits Argumentative Essay

...Student Name: Professor/Instructor’s Name: Course: Date: Gay Marriage Rights and Benefits Same sex marriage has become more widely accepted worldwide than before. In the past, same sex marriage was been considered immoral, weird and religiously incorrect. Various countries around the world used to ban this type of marriage. However, as same sex couple population increased, people started slowly adjusting themselves to changes in society. Another factor for increased same-sex marriages is the rise in divorce. This has discouraged the modern youth from committing themselves to marriage unions. Nowadays gay and lesbian couples are disclosing their marital status and demanding for their rights. This essay would be arguing about the benefits and the rights of same-sex marriages in society. Same-sex orientations are more reserved when it comes to expressing their choices. Support for same-sex marriages has increased over time as a result of a shift in social values. One of the arguments in support of same-sex marriages is that when legalized, gay marriages will result to more secure and stable relationships (Nagle 14). Without being legalized, these same-sex relationships will not last. It will also lead to increased acceptance by the society (Eskridge & Spedale 29). Advocates of the same-sex marriages also argue that legalizing it will fight the societal belief that gay relationships are all about sexual activity; there can be a serious commitment by a gay couple. It is also...

Same Sex Adoption

...RUNNING HEAD: SAME SEX ADOPTION-AN ETHICAL DILEMMA Same Sex Adoption- An Ethical Dilemma The topic of homosexual equality is a very controversial one for many people; from legalizing gay marriage to inequality in the workplace. Homosexual adoption is another issue that is overlooked by many. The view of a happy and healthy family in the United States has always been looked at as a traditional mother, father, 2.5 kids a dog and a goldfish and that the child’s wellbeing is determined by having a good, strong mother and a father to teach and guide their children to be the best they can be. However, what about the opposite? Many same-sex couples are ready and willing to adopt and have a family of their own, but many states have laws in place that ban same-sex couples from being able to adopt. This ban on same-sex adoption leaves thousands of children without families in the foster care system or in unstable households where they will never reach their full potential. Currently, there are 130,000 children in the foster care system without a permanent family (Ryan, Averett, & Nalavany, 2009). Giving same-sex couples the opportunity to adopt could lessen the load and give more children loving, healthy, and happy permanent families. As of today, 24 states recognize same-sex marriage and only 19; including Washington DC permit same-sex couples to jointly adopt; which allows a couple to adopt a child at the same time. 13 states permit second-parent adoption...

Same-Sex Marriage

...Same-Sex Marriage: The Problems with DOMA and the Pursuit for Equality Believe it or not, same-sex marriage has been around since ancient times. At least two Roman Emperors, Nero and Elagabalus, were in gay unions. It wasn’t until the advent of Christianity that the practice of same sex marriage was out-lawed by the emperors Constantius II and Constans in 342 AD and has continued to be through-out most of the world until the twenty-first century (Boswell 83). With the advent of gay rights movement in many industrialized countries, same-sex marriage has become more accepted. A prime example of this is what lawmakers in the state of New York did on June 24, 2011. With a thirty-three to twenty-nine vote, the legislature legalized same-sex marriage, making it the largest state where gay and lesbian couples can now get married (New York Times 2011). However, Even with recent legalization of gay marriage in some parts of the nation there are still states that are strongly against it. States such as Alaska, Hawaii, Nebraska and Nevada have, by popular vote, passed Defense of Marriage Acts (DOMAs) as a constitutional amendment. This gives states the legal right not to recognize same-sex marriage from other states where it is legal. I will argue that DOMA legislation is discriminatory and that same-sex couples have a legal right to the same marriage benefits and public acknowledgment enjoyed by heterosexual couples. Also, that second-class remedies such as civil unions and...

Same-Sex Marriage Argument

...Same-Sex Marriage Argument Sarah Springstube PHI103 Informal Logic Instructor DeFusco August 4, 2014 Same-sex marriage has been an issue among society for many years. Not all people understand there is no ban on same sex-marriage nor is it illegal. In all fifty states there are couples of the same sex who live together, ones who choose their professional job to be in a workplace where joint benefits are offered, and ones who choose a religious community which accepts their relationship. Those who believe this is an issue and feel it should be illegal were likely raised to believe it is wrong to marry someone of the same gender. Whether these people in society were raised by what their religion believes or what their families have taught them to believe it is one’s own beliefs that determine a person to feel whether such an act as same-sex marriage is wrong or right. What’s at issue is whether the government will recognize such relationships as marriages—and then force every citizen, house of worship and business to do so as well. At issue is whether policy will coerce and compel others to recognize and affirm same-sex relationships as marriages (Anderson, 2013). The first premise in this argument; All same-sex couples have the right to be married, it is not illegal. Second premise; Same-sex couples need to be treated equal. This leads us to the conclusion. The conclusion is; Same-sex couples need government approval to be accepted in the public eye. After evaluating...

Rogerian Argument

...Unit 9 Assignment 1: Rogerian Argument Paper Todd Keller Paper on Same Sex Marriage Should same sex couples be allowed to marry? Through time mankind has always held the belief that marriage is reserved for a man and a woman. Many religions have teachings and even very strict religious laws against same sex couples and unions. Catholics will tell you that it’s the devils work, Islam and other religions take it farther and view same sex relationships as not only evil, but punishable by death. We as a species are required to mate with someone from the opposite sex in order to procreate; the bible teaches that this is the only reason for a man and a woman to have carnal relations. It has been passed from generation to generation that two people of the same sex having an intimate relation is wrong and can never happen, anyone doing so does so at their own risk, a risk of ridicule and other consequences. With many things in this world attitudes have changed, as such many people are openly gay and have very strong partner relationships and thus should be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the merits of being in a monogamous relationship just as much as a “normal” couple would. For many years, same sex relationships have had to endure the fact that you cannot classify your “life partner” as a person on your medical insurance, life insurance, or many other situations that legally able to be married couples are afforded. Some may even argue that certain couples...

Legalizing Gay Marriage

...making, and the public is same-sex marriage. Currently, it is one of the most aggressive issues coming up in American courts, one of the most supported changes discussed in law reviews, and one of the fieriest political questions facing lawmakers. The history of American family law can change forever if same- sex marriage is legalized. It has good and bad consequences for parents, children, same-sex couples, families, social structure, and public health. Being such a controversial issue, there are many important reasons for and against legalizing gay marriage. Marriage is more than just marrying someone you want to be with the rest of your life. It entitles you to financial benefits and financial responsibility. Being married provides legal safeguards for the spouse, including pension, legal rights to property of deceased, and many other rights. Should law prohibit same gender couples from enjoying the benefits of being married? It also creates a legal relationship between the couple and the state. There is no reason why neither the federal government nor any state government should restrict marriage to a predefined heterosexual relationship. Over time marriage has changed drastically. The women in the family are not longer just a spouse, but now an equal partner. Society’s changes have been felt in marriages for decades now as rates of divorce have increase because of these changes. Same- sex marriage to be legalized is promoted by same-sex activists in many countries...

Same Sex Marriage

...Voting yes and getting the win on Proposition 8 will define marriage in California (to mean only) a union between one man and one woman. Yes will add exactly 14 words to the California State Constitution: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Voting no on Proposition 8 will define marriage in California( to mean) a union between any two people regardless of gender, which would include same-sex couples (Wohlsen & Hoag, 2009). Clearly, the effects of this vote will be far-reaching and long lasting. Advocates of Proposition 8 urge people to consider many consequences prior to voting. The following will explore counter arguments effecting these consequences and show that Proposition 8 is unconstitutional as it “violates the due process and equal protection rights of gays and lesbians under the U.S. Constitution by denying them the right to marry the person of their choice and by singling them out for disparate treatment without a legitimate rationale” (Ashby, 2010). Same Sex Marriage: Overturn Ban on Same Sex Marriage in California An Argument to Vote No on Proposition 8 During the hearing, it was argued that Propositions 8’s withdrawal of the right of marriage from gays and lesbians was unconstitutional as it violates their civil rights. The reason being was, in the 5 months prior to the ruling of Proposition 8, gay and lesbian couples enjoyed the right to marry as it had been ruled legal in the state of California, only to...

Marriage In Heaven Essay

...A statement that is very often used about marriage is ‘Marriages are made in heaven’. A marriage is a social union, or a legal contract (under some personal laws) between two individuals that establishes legal rights and obligations between them. It is principally an institution in which interpersonal relationships, including sexual and intimate relations between the spouses, are acknowledged and legalised. When two individuals decide to spend the rest of their lives together, they often legalise their communion by entering into marriage. In many countries, legal recognition is given only to marriages between opposite sex couples, banishing same sex marriages. Homosexuality is considered a taboo in many parts of the world even today. ...principles of the Bible therefore should not support an action, such as legalizing same sex marriage, which goes against our founding beliefs. Same sex marriages has a major impact on today’s society in regards to the union of marriage being legalized in all states, how future generations will be affected and how it will affect the institution of marriage in the future. When it comes to the issue of same sex marriage, many people have different views. Research shows that the majority of Americans oppose same sex marriage, but when it comes to deciding who should make the laws, Americans are split in half . (Bayles) 48% of Americans said that the federal government should make the laws and 46% say it should be left to the states. This information shows that the majorities of Americans have strong opinions about the issue, but don’t know of any way to solve the issue. The debate over same-sex marriage has been a prominent issue in our society over many years now, appearing in several ballot initiatives such as California's Proposition 8. The idea of allowing two people of the same gender to enter into the institution of marriage has brought out drastic emotions and reactions from many different groups of people. Those who engage in the debate believe strongly in their convictions; the two loudest voices tend to come from the gay community and the religious community, the former arguing in favor of same-sex marriage and the latter against it. In the religious community, whenever one...

Same Sex Marriage

...Same Sex Marriage Marriage has always been a commitment between a man and a woman. It is a relationship that comes from human nature, established by God. Simultaneously, same sex marriage opposes nature and therefore if it is legalized, it will change the foundation of society. Consequently, it will violate natural law, and cause marriage to be less meaningful. No doubt, it will no longer hold its value and lose tradition. Same sex marriage should be illegal because it ignores a child’s best interest, it is not natural, and it offends God by sinning and violating his word. However, a nurturing environment for little children is in a home brought up with two parents, a man and a woman that are in a marriage together. Not a home with either two males or two females. It can cause confusion in children. Same sex marriage ignores a child’s best interest. “Based on the medical, biological, psychological, social, and other evidence, all else being equal, same sex couples cannot best parent a child in their household” It creates an unstable environment for raising children. Children in these circumstances do not receive all the benefits of being brought up with a married mother and father. Each gender is important for child development. Children brought up by gay and lesbian couples are at more of a risk of struggling academically, living poorly, having behavior problems, and at times having kids at an early age Following this, children need both parents a masculine father and a feminine...
