...Third Gender – Equality and Truth http://caissg.org/third-gender-equality-truth/ It is a brave and honest person who can stand apart from the masses and openly challenge its most treasured beliefs. ~ Donna Evans As humans, we understand a little about our complex bodies even with the greatest medical science. It is what it is. Then why lie? Secrecy and stigma are worse than the condition itself. Without truth and transparency, it is difficult to pass laws, provide equal rights, offer support and help for all. We need to have an environment which encourages truth, tolerance, and respect for all. Are there only two genders or is there a third gender?Regardless of which side of the issue you are on, we can all agree thattruth is always the right option and secrecy and lying have no place for a long-term solution in a civilized society. There are several issues withsecrecy and lying. First it is wrong. Second it does not take into account the feelings and trauma of the person being lied to. Third it could lead to criminal acts such as if lying is a crime under oath. What are the bioethics for disclosure to spouses? It is NOT about gender identity or it is NOT about the sexual identity, it is about the HUMAN identity which is to say the truth. As a human being, everyone deserves a feeling of “belonging”, understanding and acceptance. Without recognition of the truth, how will an intersex person marry legally or how can an intersex couple (who are infertile) adopt a child legally...

...Supreme Court and won. So because of that it was a landmark of the Civil Rights movement that ultimately changed the United States Supreme Court decision on prohibiting interracial marriage. Marriage should be an expression of peoples love and devotion to one another and should not be limited to one man and one woman. On another note. Marriage has not always been between one man and one women. As far as ancient cultures go. Rome and the Fujitan Provence in ancient China had Gay Unions. Gay Unions were also allowed in ancient Indian cultures and in France as well. France had something called Brotherments dated as far back as 600 AD. Historical evidence, including legal documents and gravesites, can be interpreted as supporting the prevalence of homosexual relationships hundreds of years ago, said Allan Tulchin of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. (Bryner, 2007). So the fact of the matter is that this topic has been around longer than most people care to admit and because of that most people are not willing to do the research or take the time to listen to others’ arguments on the subject at hand. And, on that note. Most people usually make up their own minds on something before doing any kind of research. If they haven’t made up their minds, then they certainly have an opinion. Allowing Gay Marriage will make gay...

...The Necessity of a Marriage License Jenna Haedike Professor Webster English 121 November 7, 2013 In the United States, when a couple decides to marry, there are many different ways a couple can choose to pursue their union. While some may choose to unite through holy matrimony and others may choose the secular route of marriage by a justice of the peace, documentation of said marriage, while elective, is an important legal step in sanctifying a union in the eyes of any governing body. In effect, obtaining a marriage license is far and away more beneficial than simply remaining married under common or religious law. The greater goal of any marriage is, in retrospect, is relatively noble. One individual marries another in order to foster a child or children with their significant other, to produce a family. There are many benefits to this, physical, psychological and economical. The economic benefits of obtaining a marriage license are the extended provisions afforded the newly-wed couple when it comes to combination of assets; when a marriage takes place, under the law, both persons involved yield their individual right to any and all of their assets. This means that your potential husband’s debt is now yours, your potential wife’s income now compliments your own and any purchases you make, financial agreements you sign or children you conceive are given equal parts ownership between the two of you. This is imposed by the terms of the marriage license, and is not something...

...name – Legislative Paper Nov. 6, 2012 The definition of marriage had not been critical to governmental law until 1996 when the Defense of Marriage Act, or commonly known as D.O.M.A., was signed by President Bill Clinton. As it states D.O.M.A defines marriage as “only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife.” (Webb, Rita A., n.d.). The term “spouse” is also coined for a husband or wife of an individual of the opposite sex. In opposition to this unconstitutional law, I am in support for the S. 598: Respect for Marriage Act of 2011, which was passed by a judicial committee on Nov.10, 2011. Unfortunately, it was presented to the U.S. Senate, but as remained stagnant since. (“S.598”, 2011). Essentially, it repeals D.O.M.A and safeguards the respect for individual state regulations of marriage. S.598 is a progressive law that encourages our government as a free democracy to adhere to separation between church and state. D.O.M.A. blatantly counters just that. It is not constitutional to allow the enforcement of a law based on the Christian ideology of marriage. First, using the “Five-E Approach”, the issuance of this law would be highly effective and accomplish its key goals of repealing D.O.M.A. and ensuring equal rights and recognition to same-sex unions. It is to be noted the passing of S.598 does not suggest all states legalize samesex marriages. It is still allowing each state to be governed under their state’s constitution. Second, is this law efficient...

...Gay Marriages Gay Marriages is not a bad for society. They should say yes to Gay Marriages to be legalized. They should say yes to Gay Marriages to be legalized. Why? because it does not hurt society or anyone. That can be better for a society. Also can help children. According to Messerli (2009) a marriage is a relationship between two people. How does it hurt society or people not involved in the marriage? It is a personal commitment that really is no one else is hurt in the process. If the church or certain group disapprove, that is their right, but it is not their to stop it. Marriages benefit should be available to all couple. Marriage is more than a legal status. It affects many things in society such as tax filling status, Joint ownership of property, insurance benefit, and agency law. It affects critical medical decision. For example, if one number of a gay couple that has been together for 20 years gets critically ill, visitation may not even to allow since the other is not considered a ‘spouse or immediate family member’. Also, critical medical decisions must of ten be made when one person is incapacitated; e.g. should a certain surgery be done or not? It is completely unfair to deny this privilege to people because their relationship does not fit the state is definition of one (Messerli, 2009). Another reasons for children of gay couple will be better. For example, Cline, (2011) The christian Right would deny gay to ability to adopt or raise children...

...In Defense Of Traditional Marriage Gisela Ascanio PHI 103 Informal Logic Noel Sauer 2 July 2015 We are going to discuss the article “in defense of traditional marriage.” In addition we will go over the argument that was addressed, the conclusion and premises we found to support it as well as explain whether it was a deductive or inductive component. Then, we will have a counterargument, with the original argument presented, provide conclusion, premises and define whether it was a inductive/deductive component and why. In the article “In defense of traditional marriage” it talks about upholding the traditional sense of marriage between a man and a woman. To keep the sacred bond between a man and a woman who will be bear children and raise them together in the union that the government and god acknowledges as marriage. The reason this is being brought up is because same sex unions are requesting that their partnerships be acknowledged as marriage and it be redefined in a sense so when they get married they too will receive the same benefits a man and wife would. Next, we will be going over the argument in the article. After reading the article, it’s easy to notice the writer is very traditional and not so open minded to the possibilities of what has been presented, to give same sex marriage the same meaning and rights of a heterosexual marriage. In the writer’s eyes the reason marriage exists is to bring a man and woman together to become a mother and father to the children that...

...Same Sex Marriage Recently the discussion of same sex marriage has been a hot topic in both the political and religious arenas. This controversial issue has caused many citizens to take a solid stance on same sex marriages based on his or her morals, beliefs, and viewpoints. Popular reasons that citizens considered when deciding their stance are civil rights, religion, parenting, and financial matters. This paper will break down the pros and cons of each of the reasons listed and attempt to come to a conclusion of should same sex marriages be legalized in the state of Californians. Civil Rights The Constitution of the United States was written in 1776, which during that time there were no gender specifications noted pertaining to the recognition of a legal marriage. Same sex marriage debate is so large that in 1996, President Bill Clinton signed for the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which clarified that marriage is between a man and woman. The main reason gay and lesbian couples are fighting hard to legalize same sex marriage is so those couples will be allowed to and benefit from the same government, financial, and legal stances as heterosexuals marriages. Several states allow partnerships or civil union for same sex couples, however, they are denied certain rights given to heterosexual couples (National Conference of State Legislatures, 2013). Because of the growing debate of same sex marriages, President Obama administration said that it would no longer defend...

...Children of Divorce MBrooks University Abstract Within the past 30 years it is safe to say that divorce is an epidemic that has affected about fifty percent of families in the United States. When discussing the topic of divorce, one must think about the many issues they must face in the ‘long term’, and in the present that affects children. Many problems have added to the family’s interaction before the divorce, as well as, ongoing conflict afterward. The stages of divorce affect children in different ways depending on their coping skills in their stage of development. Furthermore, the consequences of divorce may impact the child’s overall sense of security in meeting their most basic needs. Studies have also shown that children’s responses to divorce can attribute to behavioral problems. Children mimic what they see, so reassuring your children is a vital part of getting them through this difficult time. Further discussions will pose positive attributes due to a great support system and having well-adjusted children after divorce. Children of Divorce Vows are exchanged in the presence of our Father, and the verse that changes everything from that moment of promise on is—“a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? Matthew 19:5. ’And, you may kiss the bride…” Blissful couples leave the church with the intention of living happily ever after, not really thinking the statistics are against them from...

...prefer to know how her child got the nerve to ask such a question? It can not be denied that in today’s time, sex has become a household term. If before it was considered taboo, nowadays, it may be spoken as easily as saying one’s name. In effect, it may now be discussed everywhere by everyone including children. The term is actually not a bad one. In fact, it is a gift from God to any married couple. It is the process by which two people, blessed by God, become instruments of His creation. What makes it a “dirty” thing now is what many young people do to it. Sex has been abused and done by people even at a very young age of 14. This scenario has led to teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, single parenthood, premature marriages, broken families, and eventually, poverty. The only solution the goverment sees that can be deemed possible to curb these incidents is by sex education---teaching sex in basic education. Are we Filipinos ready for this? I do not think so. But have got another option? No, we don’t. We have got no choice. This leads us back to teaching sex in school. But how can this be done? There have to be rules or guidelines that must be implemented in order that the right goals may be achieved and not create more complications. When these have been set, then these will serve as the basis for implementing sex education. First, before sex education is implemented in school, there must be a selection process to be done by the officials of the Department...

...A seminar was conducted about marriage. At first I was skeptical about the marriage seminar idea because at first we were required to attend, second of all I didn’t know who the speakers were, and last at that time of the day my attention was very slim because of the hussle and bustle of school works. Upon entering the auditorium, I was expecting a marriage councilor or a parish priest to give the talk, but to my surprise it was a couple. They began the seminar by introducing themselves as a couple who has been married for a very long time. Well to me, at least the seminar conductors were experienced and they know what they will be taking about during the seminar. Also, they told us that they conduct the seminar yearly in Don Bosco for a consecutive 8 years already. Upon hearing this, I had a lot of expectations already even before the seminar started. So the seminar started about the whole background of marriage. Of course, there were several scenarios where there are a lot of reasons why a person should or should not get married in the first place. The first thing I remember they told us when they began the seminar is that marriage is not an event, it’s a lifetime commitment. To me the statement wasn’t really a surprise. Being a born-again Christian, I was exposed to the do’s and don’ts of having a relationship. In the seminar, they told us that building a relationship we should always consider marriage. That our reasoning and actions should always lead to a proper and God...

...Real names of these solo parents were withheld due to confidentiality of their cases. SOLO PARENT 1 Lourdes is a solo parent for almost eight years now. She had an illicit relationship with a married man for 15 years and they had three children – two girls and one boy. Her lover provided Lourdes with monthly allowance when he was still alive. But after his death in 2004, Lourdes became a solo parent to her three children. Unfortunately, Lourdes did not finish secondary education thus; she availed of the food processing training being offered by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to solo parents as well as unskilled women to augment their family’s subsistence. After her training, Lourdes utilized her skills and now she sells homemade Longganisa, Tocino, Tapa, and Leche flan to government offices, schools, and her neighborhood to sustain the family’s income. SOLO PARENT 2 There are various cases of solo parenting in Dagupan City due to a number of reasons such as death of spouse, battering, abandonment, and infidelity. One of these cases is the case of Olive who was widowed at the age of 44 years old and left with four children (two girls and two boys). Olive was married to Armando, a person with disability due to polio and he was self-employed as a shoe repairman along A.B. Fernandez Avenue in Dagupan City. ...Office of the City Prosecutor of Pasay City. She alleged that her marriage with respondent in 1978 had not yet been legally dissolved when the latter contracted a second marriage with one Cecile Maguillo in 1991. Issue: Whether the trial court erred in finding that the first essential element of bigamy, which is a first valid marriage contracted by private respondent is wanting. Arguments: Petitioner: Petitioner maintained that the respondent committed an act which has all the essential requisites of bigamy. The prosecution pointed out that the marriage of petitioner and respondent on 18 November 1978 has not yet been severed when he contracted a second marriage on 16 February 1991, for which reason, bigamy has already been committed before the court declared the first marriage null and void on 27 April 2007 Respondent: Respondent moved to quash the Information on the ground that the facts charged do not constitute an offense. He informed the court that his marriage with petitioner was declared null and void by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 16, Naval, Biliran on 26 April 2007; that the decision became final and executory on 15 May 200[7]; and that such decree has already been registered with the Municipal Civil Registrar on 12 June 2007. He argued that since the marriage had been declared null and void from the beginning, there was actually no first marriage to speak of. Absent a first valid marriage, the facts alleged in the Information do not constitute the crime...
