EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

With steady sales in 2012, Orica's performance for the 2012 financial year looked promising. Analysing the Orica Financial Report 2012 shows that although sales were high, the expenses increased for the year, and their net profit dropped considerably. This report analyses Orica's overall performance for 2012. Utilising the data provided by their Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement, the financial analysis ratios: Liquidity, Efficiency, Profitability, Financing and
Investment ratios, are all calculated and analysed to present their financial standing at the end of the year. Comparing the relationships of these ratios reveals that Orica decreased their liquidity, but suffered lower profitability with heavy influences from
Minova’s impairment of goodwill. With high asset utilisation and stable efficiency,
Orica should focus on improving their maintenance and reliability by addressing the
Kooragang plant shutdown. Furthermore, Orica is financing more with debt than equity which introduces some risk to the company given their higher expenses for
2012. Finally, the investment ratios indicate that Orica could be poised for high growth with a stable return, but should first focus on maximising their plants and equipment. Sample Assignment: Part of the content removed

...in the rapidly evolving area of international financial markets. It focuses on various aspects of international portfolio management and open-economy macroeconomics, and is a natural extension to the theories and practical issues explored in Investments and/or Finance. This course is aimed at students wishing to acquire a sound understanding of the main opportunities in international investments. For example, the relevance of hedging in the management of currency risk will be studied in light of theoretical results and empirical evidence. We will also briefly cover foreign direct investment (FDI), since in general, the revenue generated from FDI by U.S. firms is about three times as large as the revenue generated from the exporting of U.S. goods by U.S. firms. Due to the ever increasing importance of international corporate governance, there is a corresponding need to decipher and use information in financial reports. At least one class meeting and one case study will touch on some key issues in international financial reporting and analysis, such as financial disclosure/transparency, incentives for off-balance sheet liabilities, hedge accounting, lease accounting, footnote disclosures, and intercorporate equity investments, and international financial reporting differences. We will also use many real-life examples from market practices to emphasize the engineering dimensions of financial contract design (financial engineering), that market practitioners professionalize...

Functions of Management

...Functions of Management Nicole Perez July 30, 2012 MGT/330 Richard Amabile In an organization a manager should set goals and ensure that the employees can accomplish the goals that were set for them. The four functions that managers use to make sure that their employees reach the organizational goal are planning, organizing, leading and controlling. These functions have proved to be valuable in a work place setting to achieve the goals that have been set. Planning is one of the functions of management. It can be the most important of the four functions. Planning is a key part of managers’ job roles. If planning is not done well it will affect the other functions. When planning, managers should have a second course of action to achieve the goals just in case their first plan does not work out. Each plan that the organization makes has an impact on the organizations work. Managers should evaluate their plans to see if they are successful and if a plan is not as effective as they planned they would need to make changes to it. Planning is set in place to help the organization reach long term or even short term goals. The second function of management is organizing. According to (Bateman, T. S., & Snell, S.A.) organizing is assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals. Organizing would include doing activities such as, catch the attention of people and bring their attention to the organization...
