She has just won an Academy Award for best actress, but beneath the surface, something seems to be very wrong. Brooks uses Bullock as an example of his later conclusion. He puts a spot on the relationship between happiness and economic wealth. According to Brooks there is something a lot more important than economic wealth. “Marital happiness is far more important than anything else in determining personal well-being”. Her Bildungsroman, The House on Mango Street, is read both as a young adult novel and as a work of adult fiction, and her most recent book of short stories, Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories (1991), includes prose poems similar to those in Mango Street [The House on Mango Street], and longer works. Most of her fiction is composed as first-person narratives told to us by the central protagonist. She speaks for people like herself or whom she has known--Mexican and Chicana girls and women who grew up "on the borderlands." Due to these mosquitoes, there will be an increase chance of illness (west nile virus, malaria, dengue fever, dog heartworm and mosquito-borne diseases etc…..) that can lead to death, skin irritation, abrasion, allergy reaction etc. Parents, children, and community member will have to decrease outdoor activities. My propose is that Missouri city need to make sure that the adequate closed drainage treatment, control and maintain from the storm , drainage and sewage water against mosquitoes breathing. I have some information of my personal experience from the proposal to give you a better insight on the concern in my community. In my personal life experience, I have notice that there were significant decreases of outdoor activities in my children and others children in the neighborhood. When I hosted an outdoor fun event for my neighborhood, but due to so much mosquitoes the event was cancel earlier than it supposed to. The family's situation was that they were too poor to afford a real house, and moved around a lot. If they did manage to find a place to live, it was generally a rundown house. On page 3 the author says “We didn’t always live on Mango Street. Before that we lived on Loomis on the third floor, and before that we lived on Keeler. Before Keeler was Paulina and before that I can remember.” This shows the reader that the narrator has moved a lot, and that she has moved so often that she was not able to keep track of all the places that she lived in. Another piece of evidence from page 3 is “... and we didn’t have to pay rent to anybody, or share the yard with people downstairs, or be careful not to make too much noise, and there isn't a landlord banging on the ceiling with a broom.” The evidence here is stating the narrator’s previous circumstances were very poor, and she didn’t have any luxuries living there. On page 4 the narrator says “... and the windows are so small you’d think they were holding their breath...one washroom. Everyone has to share a bedroom…” The reader is able to tell that the narrator’s living conditions did not improve much, and that she is not pleased with her new home. It opens speaking about her childhood and recounts individual, life-altering events that have led her to foster her adult beliefs as well as her disillusionment with marriage.
