SWOT Analysis Sandwich Blitz Sandwich Blitz is a small sandwich chain that specializes in organic and healthy foods. The company operates eight sandwich shops in a large metropolitan area. The business is owned and operated by both Dalman who is the President and Chief Executive Officer and Lei is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. All the shops are well places around four high traffic office complexes, three universities and one hospital. Recently the company has started to receive some competition from similar businesses although nothing has been fully set up. The company is on an outstanding track but still face several challenges in the future to take them to the next level. The purpose of this SWOT is to identify key elements Dalman and Lei need to consider in order to overcome any obstacle they will face in the future.

Strengths: Sandwich Blitz has an outstanding reputation in the area as an upscale/healthy lunch choice. They offer menu choices (organic and healthy) that no other restaurant in the area is offering. Because of this they have been able to turn a great profit and a 30% Return of Investment.
Weaknesses: Sandwich Blitz has a lack of adequate middle management. The top-level managers spend too much time dealing with issues they do not need to deal with which is making them become tired. Because they are a small brand they do not have a name outside of their local area. Because of the economic turn down their occupancy rate has slowed down because of the areas they focused on. If they wish to expand they need to take the economic turn down into factor so they do not lose profit.
Opportunities: Because of their new product ideas Sandwich Blitz is able to reach out to a brand new customer base. There is also room for a larger staff to help accommodate with small issues such as middle management. They also have an opportunity to

...SWOT Analysis: Sandwich Blitz By Shannon Linnehan Sandwich Blitz, a specialty sandwich shop already has 8 successful locations and is considering opening 2 more stores. Below is the SWOT analysis, as defined in our text as a comparison of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that helps executives formulate strategy, for Sandwich Blitz. Strengths One of their greatest strengths is the success of the 8 other stores, Dalman and Lei already have a proven business model and have a profitable business. Part of this success can be attributed to their unique product (healthy, organic sandwiches) with an established brand. Weaknesses Although they have done well in the other locations, they are failing to recognize the weakness in the new proposed locations. It has been stated that many of the office spaces are vacant which would cause a decrease in customer base. Dalman and Lei are also too involved in the mundane day to day activities, they need to hire better managers so they have more time to devote the company. Opportunities Sandwich Blitz has several opportunities to expand by opening more locations, offering more products and services. Perhaps they could start serving dinner and stay open later instead of just breakfast and lunch they currently offer. Threats All businesses have risks and rewards, recognizing the threats can be the first step in succeeding. Sandwich Blitz is no different and faces threats such as competition from other...

Sandwich Blitz Swot Analysis

...Sandwich Blitz SWOT Analysis Dalman and Lei have what it takes to take their business to the next level. Focusing on key points and their future goal have them considering on expanding their business. SWOT breaks down each key element they need to consider in order to succeed. Identifying their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats will allow them to overcome an obstacle to becoming a large-scale business. The first thing they should look at are they're strengths. In this case their most important strength is that they have the resources to open two additional locations. Dalman and Lei have successfully opened up eight sandwich and beverage shops in a large metropolitan area. Expanding will be a great move for them because they have the experience and know exactly what it takes to open up a new business. Having a positive cash flow is one less problem that they have to worry about when it comes to expanding the business and are able to focus on whats next on the agenda. I believe every business has its weaknesses no matter how profitable they may be. Dalman and Lei's weakness is the fact that their customers are based from larger office parks. A few to name would be Universities, hospitals, and office complexes. The larger office parks are being affected due to the economic downturn, which has caused the occupancy rates to decrease. They have to be careful when picking these two locations to be sure their customer rate doesn’t be affected and cause their business...

The Swot for Sandwich Blitz, Inc

...Organizational leaders often perform a SWOT analysis, which measures a business’s internal strengths and weaknesses and external opportunities and threats (Nickels, McHugh, & McHugh, 2010). Factors are considered both fixed and variable, and give the organization the opportunity to identify areas for improvement and advancement. The main strength of Dalman and Lei committing to a large scale expansion of Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is that they already have a strong business plan in place that is showing success. By expanding their business outside of the city they are currently in, they are able to garner a larger customer base. With having eight current shops, they could possibly be better off with getting involved with an expansion that will take them out of their current area. Expanding in the same area as they have been currently with a small scale expansion may cut down the amount of customers that visit other established shops. A weakness of Dalman and Lei committing to a large scale expansion of Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is that their current set up is working as it is because they have made their first link of the chain the base for training new employees. With moving to a different area during a larger expansion, it may not be possible for this model to continue working for them as it currently is. One of the main things that keeps this chain successful is the training that each employee receives that allows them to be empowered to make a bad situation right for the customer...

Swot Analysis for Sandwich Blitz

...SWOT analysis for Sandwich Blitz This is my analysis on the expansion move by Dalman and Lei. The first part of my analysis are the strengths that Sandwich Blitz provides. The strength that sandwich blitz has is that there food is organically grown so, that means that there into selling healthy food. They do give hands on training and as a company they stand by their motto. The weakness that I see is that Dalman and Lei feel as if they don’t have the time and energy to expand the business. If they feel that there not ready mentally and physically to expand then you run a risk of not properly training correctly and, trying to build off of your name rather than putting the work in. The opportunity that this presents is of course expanding to different areas. The location in which you expand your business mean a lot. They have sandwich blitz in metropolitan areas and are looking to expand in urban areas. That’s kind of like having the best of both worlds. This may mean that they would get an even larger return of investment. The threats that may present themselves are similar competitors. There are always competitors that will have a business similar to your own with certain deals to knock out the competition. I would think the cost of having organic food will effect budgeting. Overall I would take the risk and expand to the urban area and build there. I just would want Dalman and Lei to be completely focused on each...

...Overview Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is a successful business, owned by Dalman Smith and Lei Lee who operate eight independent sandwich shops in a metropolitan area. They specialize in serving gourmet organic breakfast and lunch sandwiches and specialties to a diverse group of clients. Recently, Lei discovered a discrepancy on one of the sales associates time-sheet. Further investigation revealed that the team supervisor allowed the employee to report unearned hours in that pay period. Lei also discovered that the employee handbook did not completely cover all of their duties and responsibilities. This left Lei no other choice, but to review and update the existing control system. Four Steps of Control System Although Bateman and Snell identify four steps that managers must take to introduce or improve the existing control system, Rao and Shankar also introduce a preliminary step - key areas to be monitored (p.170). In this particular case, Lei has already identified the type of discrepancy and the possible cause of it. Their employee handbook has not been updated and, thus, was lacking description of their duties and responsibilities as well as various operational procedures. Therefore the main area that Lei must focus on is to bring the handbook up to date. Lei could perform this task herself or delegate it to one of her regional managers. Step 1. Setting performance standards. The employee handbook will serve as a guidance for the employees and as a reference book for the...

Swot: Sandwich Blitz, Inc.

...SWOT: Sandwich Blitz, Inc. Jo Lee Kaplan University MT140 The strength for Sandwich Blitz is the fact that they are copyrighting their ingredients to keep competitors from beating them out. This will make them unique among their competitors. When is the provider of the final product or service willing to compromise its own brand-building to add the ingredient brand on the package as well as in advertising? There are four conditions: * The ingredient is highly differentiated, usually supported by patent protection, and so adds an aura of quality to the overall product. * The ingredient is central to the functional performance of the final product. * The final products are not well-branded themselves, either because the category is relatively new, because customers buy infrequently or because there is low perceived differentiation among the options. * The final products are complex, assembled from components supplied by multiple firms who may sell the "ingredients" separately in an aftermarket (http://blogs.hbr.org/quelch/2007/10/how_to_brand_an_ingredient_1.html). The weakness for Sandwich Blitz is the ROI of 30%. This doesn’t sound like a big profit to me at all. Advertising is a good way to increase the ROI. Advertising venues range from print newspapers and magazines, to website banner ads, to billboards, to nonprofit sponsorships. Whatever medium you choose, your advertising investments should be targeted toward reaching the demographic most likely to...

Sandwich Blitz’s strength is that they have a positive cash flow and Lei knows that they have enough money to open two new locations. Even though she mentions that there has been a decrease in traffic in the stores near the office parks they are still making a profit. Their weakness is their internal structure is not functioning correctly at the moment. Dalman and Lei are spending the majority of their time helping the managers with budgeting and the daily accounting process. These are things the managers should be doing themselves without Dalman and Lei’s help. Sandwich Blitz

...“Sandwich Blitz – Where our quality, freshness, and customers always come first.” Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is considering opening two more stores in the near future. Dalman has found the two stores, which will become vacant in the near future. I recommend both Dalman and Lei follow the advice given below. Before any expansion can occur, SWOT has to be taken in consideration. All aspects of SWOT analysis need to be studied, the past should not be considered at all. Just the future, meaning the economy downfall, has Sandwich Blitz, Inc. seen any downfall. If so, that would be a good interpretation that no future growth should be considered. Strengths: With a ROI of 30% which would be considered phenomenal by most should be their first goal in maintaining that yield year after year. Weakness: I believe Dalman is seeing, dollar signs in his eyes. He believes the corporation can continue to grow even with the economic slowdown. For several stores, ready to close up and with his estimation of renting those stores for less money than rented previously sounds like a pipe dream. Opportunity: I agree that the thought of expanding of two additional stores sounds appealing; Dalman needs to talk to the accountant Jayin Chopra, regarding any changes in revenue or expenses from the previous year. How is the economic downfall affecting Sandwich Blitz, Inc.? In my opinion Sandwich Blitz, Inc. would be behind the curve of the downfall. I say this for I do not believe any local companies...

...Willie Toussaint December 5, 2012 Sandwich Blitz SWOT Thoughtfully listing the STRENGHTS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES, and THREATS of Sandwich Blitz and its decision to expand should be done immediately. This is a big picture exercise that challenges them to compile, analyze, and evaluate the significant influences that work for or against its strategic objectives (Sultz & Young, 2009). Strategically planning will help aid Sandwich Blitz with the decision of expanding and locating new locations. It allows for all management persons to get involved in the process. Although I believe that the expansions should be on small scale because this allows them time for growth if the new expansion takes off. The biggest STRENGTH of Sandwich Blitz is that they have the resources to open two additional locations if good locations can be found. Another strength would be, that they have the staff to move to these new locations. This also allows for low level management to get involved in the marketing of the new expansions. A major WEAKNESS of Sandwich Blitz is that due to the recent economic downturn, the larger park offices have been affected and this could affect business because people are probably not shopping in these areas too much. They would probably have to come up with cheaper menus and do specials to attract business which could be costly. The OPPORTUNITY for Sandwich Blitz would be that the expansion allows for more business especially if it is moved to another...

They also have a positive attitude. You have to keep a positive attitude to maintain and keep a successful business. Sandwich Blitz Inc., weaknesses are that they do not have enough money to expand. You have to be financially stabled and have money put to the side. Always have back up money just in case something goes wrong. So before they expand they have to look at what this is going to cost them and make sure they have the fund to do so, especially if it’s going to be a big expansion. They lack communication, that can create a huge problem for the business and they do not need any set backs if they are thinking about expanding. Smaller businesses like Sandwich Blitz must be savvy in developing marketing strategies that drive consumer traffic. This entails staying in constant touch with customers. One of the best ways for smaller fast food companies to stay in touch with their companies is through marketing research. A small fast food company as Sandwich Blitz must know what key customers want and will buy before developing marketing and advertising strategies. Strengths for “SB” would be the fact that they stand out as sort of an upscale or gourmet fast food restaurant, and they offer a higher quality of food than most traditional fast food restaurants. Sandwich Blitz also specializes in training for all of their employees especially management. Weaknesses of Sandwich Blitz will be the lack of reputation in the area that they are trying to move to; or will they have a great marketing plan to help expose consumers to what they are potentially or could potentially bring to this area.
