...PART A View on MRT Breakdown The SBS Transit North-East Line 10 hour’s breakdown on 15 March 2012 is a severe issue that affects thousands living in Singapore. We feel that this is understandable as breakdowns would definitely occur even though it had brought about inconvenience to the commuters. This issue will not only affect ones judgment on SBS Transit Link, as well as the government’s ability to cope with the situation. However, SBS Transit Link had worked well together with the government to cope with this issue in a smooth manner by providing free bus services for those who were affected. Also, alerting passengers about this issue through media and the internet was successful. Through the study of Organizational Behaviour (OB), we are able to understand how situation like this would impact the organization and at the same time understand the actions and attitudes of people in the organization who are handling this issue. Possible causes of behavior Individual Level – Perception Through this video, we have seen many different points of views from the commuters and the SBS Transit Link staffs. The two concepts that we applied to this case study are Factors influencing perception and Perception errors when judging this matter. Factors influencing perception: * The Perceiver The perceiver is an individual who loos at a target and attempts to interpret what he or she sees. The perceiver for this case is the commuters. ...1. Project Objectives and Overall Research Approach 2.1. Reasons for choosing Project Topic Area and Organisation The reason why I have decided on this Project Topic 8 about the business and financial analysis of organisation is because it is regarded as a popular agenda topic in many different investment forums, meetings and even verbal conversations. Such area of knowledge on “Analysing the business and financial health of organisation” is deemed important as it is evidently seen widely incorporated into many teaching syllabus and conventional business finance textbooks. For myself whose ambition is to become an audit partner of an accounting firm, such topic area will be extremely common in my field, and grasping such expertise is definitely a must given that becoming a master of it makes me competitive advantageous over others. Then again, I am especially fascinated concerning the success of Singapore’s duopoly public transportation system which is perceived as one of the key sector in the success of Singapore’s infrastructure. This duopoly transportation system is dominated by 2 major players, one of which is my choice of organisation, Singapore Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited. (Also known as SMRT Corporation Ltd). In fact, total number of passengers utilising public transport has been growing constantly since Year 2000. For the year ended 31 December 2010, a highest record of 726,034,000 passengers was achieved (Yearbook of Statistics Singapore,...

...Topic: Perception Perception is the process by which individuals select, organize and interpret their sensory impressions in order to give the meaning to their environment. Concept #1 – Factors influencing perception The perceiver are the commuters that were affected by the breakdown of the NEL train service. Some of the commuters felt that the breakdown on 15th March was well handled by SBS while others felt that it was poorly handled. SBS was able to provide a more efficient announcement service as commuters were told in advance. They also provided free bus services at affected MRT stations in addition to the free shuttle bus services that were already provided. Thus, this allowed certain commuters to realise that actually, SBS had made good efforts to handle the breakdown. The target is the issue or individual that we are interpreting. In this situation, it will be the MRT breakdown. The repetition of the MRT breakdown might cause commuters to feel that the transport system is poorly maintained. Furthermore, MRT breakdowns have been happening regularly. Thus, they might have a negative impression of the MRT system. The situation is the time and event in which the breakdown happened for different commuters. There were commuters that were rushing for work or school and also there might be others whom were just running some errands. Commuters that were rushing to work felt that the breakdown caused inconvenience to them as it increased their traveling time to work and...

...employment, product and services, publicity and sales. Retail paper and plastic bags are common packaging tools in the market but due to environmental issues and the public’s awareness more people are decided to use retail paper bag instead of plastic. Paper bags are used for many things, to put up lunches for kids, to bring in the groceries, to take out the trash, to hold the things and help us stay organized. Many markets have switched from plastic bags to paper bags. Paper bags are less expensive. Cost Effectiveness is one of the reasons why they prefer paper bag other than plastic bag. Many vendors and consumers have complained about using plastic bags to put their goods. Some market and grocery stores now give a choice between paper bags or plastic bags. Some Smart shoppers choose to use paper bags instead of plastic assuming that it is an environmentally friendly and better alternative. Paper Bags are usually made up of plant fibers substance from fibrous cellulose materials as rags, woods, or barks. Paper bags were invented in the 1850’s. Paper bags are recyclable. Well known grocery stores, supermarkets, fast food chain, establishment and markets uses brown paper bags to hold their items since there are laws that are implemented to ban the usage of plastic bags in some provinces and cities in the Philippines. ...writing. In fact, the three universities that I have attended in the past have all required me to use the APA style of writing. As I recall my high school years, the APA style of writing also seemed to be a favorite amongst my high school teachers. They all required that term papers be written in APA style as well. This type of writing actually does not differ much from the ones included in the text reading. The text mentioned the APA style of writing several times. In my opinion, it appears to be the most popular style of writing, especially amongst college students. Based on the results of the quizzes, my grammar skills were actually a little better than average. I actually had expected to do better, but I guess my grammar skills are not as good as I thought they were. In any event I feel very confident when it comes to spelling, as I have always been a great speller. Even in grade school, I was a good speller. I learned at a very young age to challenge myself when it comes to spelling. Challenging my-self in that area really paid off as I became older, as I’ve never had a problem with spelling. However, I feel that I need more help with run on sentences and with thought patterns. Though I proof read my paper several times, it’s hard for me to see that I have several run on sentences until after I get my grade back. In general, I feel that my writing is just mediocre. However, I also believe that when it comes to writing, I am my own worst critic. Reason being, I am never...

...Terrica Thomas Mr. David Makhanlall Eng 090 12-11-11 My journey as a writer is when I do my papers I have to make sure that I have the correct grammar and no misspelled words. Because when write you want to make sure that your papers flows and that you stay on topic. Because you as a writer wants the people to understand what they are reading. Because your paper have to have so meaning to it and it have to have some clarity to. When I revise my papers it make me look at the things I done wrong. Like when I have misspelled words I can correct them and when I have sentences that don’t make sense and I take the out. When I write I make the mistake of writing a lot of write on sentences. I have to make sure that I don’t do that anymore. I have to make sure that I don’t forget the punctuations because I have the habit of not putting them where they belong and stuff. When I was writing my paper on my mother I think that I did a good job but I think that I could have writing about her goals in life. What she has done with her life right now and what she wants to do right now. I could have talk a little more about what she has done for me when I was growing up. What she had to do to raise three girls on her own. The pattern of errors that I need to work on is run on sentences. Because when I write I can write a sentence that can go on and on forever without a period. A sentence fragment when I write I tend to write a sentence that don’t make any sense...
