Most students are complaining about healthy lunch at school. It is a fact, nine out of ten students surveyed don't like the school lunch, when in fact they should. This year is a mush healthier lunch in cafeteria. There are vegetables and you have fat free milk also. I have some ideas how students can live a healthy life by eating healthy, avoiding fast food, and try to make a limit. First, healthy means having or indicating good health in your body, and being healthy is better way to live your life. If students will eat healty they would be able to do or achieve anything in his/her own way. In body person could be strong and healthy. They will have positive thoughts and not negative thoughts. Second, students should eat healthy and

...One school rule that the principal should change is allowing students to leave campus for lunch because the school food can have a lot of of grease and sugar and could get a student sick. Students can get sick from school food because the lunch ladies does not know what the food came from or have inside. Many students in the world get sick of the food because the food might not be cook right and raw. Or the lunch ladies could still cook the food even though it could be bad. For example when i was in 6 grade this grade beside me was eating an hamburger from the lunch school and i was eating a sandwich that my mom made for me suddenly the girl started feeling bad after 3 hours she throw up at the class. School Lunch Research Paper

...Is School Lunch Really That Bad? During my early school years, the school lunch was very tasty, but not always healthy. In my younger years there was no act for nutrients at school, then later our present president made it a law to where all schools have to make the food healthier. I noticed the food was not as tasty as it used to be. School lunch will never be the same, but I still like the school’s food anyway. School lunch can be good for certain things; it is good for our health. Pizza, before the act our president made, was full of grease and fat, now there is less grease and little fat. Yet the trash cans are overflowing with untouched food now because people do not like that there is not fat or grease. Unlike me, who tends not...

...place to be with the sound of children chattering about recess, smell of bean chowder cooking as icing drips from cinnamon roll in the oven: a memory I grab from my bank taking me back to second grade. Contrary to today's lunch break it is more like getting a tray in the army and children don't have time to learn about healthy choices on their lunch period or even have enough time to socialize while taking a brain break. Their choices are healthier, but not always appetizing and tasteful. For example, my four year old son Hayden says" I can't always get my food packages open in enough time to finish all of my lunch." He is often very hungry after pre kindergarten when I pick him up, his teacher Ms. Ennis said today after school "he is probably starving the poor thing didn't like any of the cafeteria choices and didn't eat lunch today he didn't care for the raw carrots." She named the several choices many including raw vegetables and bread that he has an allergy...

...Many students think that school lunch is nasty and boring. That is why most students either bring their own lunch or throw away school lunch .The cafeteria wonder why children do this.Teenagers would be much more satisfied if fast food restaurants , provided food for school. This would resolve problems for parents going out to buy lunch for their child. Schools serving fast food would be great. Students would stop throwing away their lunch. Also parents wouldn’t have to go out and buy lunch that is more expensive than school lunch.Nutrition is important it helps our bodies and brains grow and develop into the way that they need to be.Our school doesn't provide the healthiest food choices for the students. ...Education in the late 1970’s Andrea R. Ferrari Professor Josephine Sarvis Dominican University April 19, 2016 Abstract This paper highlights key features of the development of education at Dominican University comparing 1970’s to today, focusing on how Dominican has been through changes such as name and diversity as well as the overall education during the latest 1970’s. This analysis is based off of an interview and has comparisons to today’s schooling system based off of historical events. Keywords: Education Education in the late 1970’s For my oral history interview I chose to interview my soon to be father in-law about his experience in the late 70’s. The reason I decided to interview him was because he had attended Dominican University back when it was Rosary College and I figured it would be great to see how different the school is now vs back then. During my interview I got to know a lot more about the person I was interviewing as well as their experience in school and the overall experience to education in the 70s’. Throughout this interview I’ve come to notice a couple of things that really stood out to me and one of those would the diversity of students in the 70’s was lacking, although segregation ended it was like there was still and unwritten form of one. Another thing that caught my attention was the advanced in technology from the 70’s to today, it may not seem like much but when compared to how that applies and effects the education systems it’s...

English 215 Assignment 1

...English 215: Research and Writing Assignment 1: Research Topics With Explanation Professor Reagan January 16, 2013 There were many research topics that caught my attention, so choosing was a little difficult for me. The first topic I chose is “Should regulations be changed regarding genetically altering plants and/or animals”. This topic is a very serious matter to me, and I am taking it in the context that it is regarding genetically modified plants and animals that were intended to be used for food. I am a vegetarian and I do believe we all have the right to know what we are consuming. Genetically modified food can be dangerous, and by the time we find out how dangerous, it may be too late. The audience for this topic would be anyone who is health conscious, interested in animal rights, or just interested in knowing the truth about what they are really consuming. Two credible sources I would use to write my paper would be the Forbes article (http://www.forbes.com/sites/emilywillingham/2012/12/07/what-you-need-to-know-about-gm-foods-is-half-the-story/) and the Human Genome Project Information site (http://www.ornl.gov/sci/techresources/Human_Genome/elsi/gmfood.shtml) My preliminary thesis statement would be: “With such a strong focus lately in obesity and calorie consumption, it seems as if many people are becoming more aware of their health and eating habits. While a salad may be a very good option for a healthy diet, does anyone really know what has happened to their...

...their health, especially during school lunch. Schools lunches normally consist of quick and easy options like pizza, chips, soda, etc., all foods that when eaten regularly can lead to serious health problems. Children are prone to these eating habits everywhere and have learned from school. It’s for reasons like this that obesity in children has doubled in the last 25 years. What was once known, as Adult-Onset Diabetes is now common within our youth and caused from childhood obesity. An article from USATOADAY titled “Unhealthy Risks for Kids Tip Scale” explains this, also going into detail about the debate between enforcing healthy lunches for students and keeping junk food in schools. Though fattening foods may be easily prepared, is the timing really worth the lives of our kids? Could a healthier diet at school make for a healthier lifestyle? These questions need answers. Let us begin. In order to get something accomplished, you must involve the government. An article from the Washington Post titled “Junk Food Widely Available at U.S Elementary Schools Despite Anti- Obesity Push” explains this and how federal regulation is necessary in order to enforce healthier school lunches. With childhood obesity increasing, more people are witnessing the epidemic and wanting an end to it. A study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation highlights this and describes their proposal that would set standards for nutrition and food/beverages sold in schools. Do Peers Affect Student Achievement?

...effects per se. Our strategy to identify peer group effects involves the elimination of problems introduced by unmeasured or mismeasured influences on achievement through the estimation of achievement growth models with fixed individual and school-by-grade effects. Our basic estimation of elementary school achievement growth indicates that the achievement level and racial composition of peers has a direct influence on achievement. All students appear to benefit from having higher achieving schoolmates, although the effect is quite small. The variance in achievement appears to have no systematic influence, and the effects of mean differences in peer achievement levels are roughly constant across quartiles of the achievement distribution – suggesting that ability grouping policies have primary influence on the distribution of performance and not the level. Moreover, ceteris paribus schools with higher concentrations of minority students lead to lower achievement for Black students but minimal effects on whites or Hispanics. Changing the following will decrease or maintain a healthy body weight: increase in activity, better nutrition, exercise and habits. Today with so many technological options children no longer need to go outside to have fun. If children spent at least an hour doing a physical activity outside they will be one step closer to starting a healthier lifestyle. After school and on the weekends, children are inside playing video games and watching television. Technology has taken the place of the after school extracurricular activities.
