...actually have in a day. I was the most surprised, however, with how little the planned events differed from the actual events. I very seldom found myself needing to update or create changes in my plan. I did notice that when I sit down to work on schoolwork, I suddenly become the most popular man in the building. Between phone calls, text messages, needy kids and wife questions, I sometimes felt a little pressed for time. I have made an effort to deal with these distractions by letting everybody know how important my study time is to me. Letting the kids know that, like them, daddy now has homework as well. Also setting my cell phone to auto answer calls and to respond to texts with a “ busy doing homework. I’ll get back to you” text should really help. I also plan use headphones when I work to block out unavoidable noise distractions. This should help me feel a little more comfortable with my schoolwork part of the schedule. I think that what this project has shown me the most is that I kind of have a routine that works. My time management skills are a work in progress. For the most part, I feel like the day-to-day activities in my life are very well organized. My biggest struggle was figuring out when I was going to do schoolwork. There never really is a great time for me to sit down for a couple of hours. Once I was able to decide on set times for school, everything else was able to fall into place. I realized that, in an effort to balance my priorities, I sacrifice one...

Lastly, students reported sending an average of 71 texts per day while doing...

...Since I was young until now, I have learned a lot of life’s lessons. And some I go by, and some I use once and then get rid of them. But there are ones that I keep for a short time, and keep for a long time, because you never know when they will come in handy. The ones that I have still, they are good ones. I keep the good ones, and just forget the bad ones, because why keep lessons that will not help get you some where or get you out of a jam. Having little good life lessons is a lot better than having a lot of great life lessons or a lot of bad life lessons. There is one main life lesson that I use all the time. And it is, to never be a quitter, because being a quitter is worse than losing. Being a quitter is even worse than being a loser. Cause, who would want to be called a quitter their whole life. I would rather spend extra time trying to get it down and done, then be a quitter. Cause if you quit at one thing, most will quit every time a roadblock is in their way. Life lessons are good for people. They can help you more than they can hurt you. They really don’t hurt you, because they are like warnings for the bad stuff out in the world today. They are just little helpful hints. They are especially helpful when you are in the time of need. If a life’s lesson hurts you, you are using them in the wrong way. I think the more life lessons you get and keep is good for your self-character. They show good character about you to other people. Because...

...Family Values As I walked into the house, I could almost taste the eggnog that would be waiting for me on the table. Eyeing the plate of cookies, I forced myself to follow my Gram up the stairs to the attic. The cookies could wait. I had come to help my Gram set up her miniature Christmas village. For Christmas each year I would give my Gram a new building, ice skater, or tree to add to her village. Her face would light up as she found the perfect place for the village’s newest addition. About two weeks before Christmas I would arrive at my Grams house to help her set up the village. I would watch in amazement as she placed each individual piece in the same exact place as she had the year before - slightly altering the village to welcome the newest addition. This was my favorite Christmas tradition when I was a child, and I looked forward to it every year. Although I live a distance away from my Gram, I visit frequently and wish I had more time to do so. She has always been completely engaged in my daily life, and it would seem strange to not see her on the first day of school each year, camera in hand, eager to take my picture. My Gram acts as a second mother to me, and I can always count on her for support. I have grown to trust her completely and she always seems to be the person who is there to help me. My Gram is the first person I go to for help and I can talk to her about virtually anything. Regardless of the subject of our conversations, she loves the fact...

...off to relax and enjoy are also occupied by homework, and personally, I think there should not be any homework on our weekends or holidays. Since we are at school for 5 work- filled boring hours a day then followed by homework, and our parents working until about 7:00 we barley have any time to spend with our families during week days. On weekends and our holidays when we are supposed to have time off school and, supposed to spend time with our families, a lot of the time is occupied by boring schoolwork and homework. We need to have time on the weekends to be with our family so that we can be with them and stay close to them. For five days a week, we are at school, and then followed by sometimes hours and hours of homework on weekdays, so we have no time to spend relaxing and doing other fun non school related activities. Then on the holidays and weekends when we have time to relax and do other fun non school related activities can be interrupted by having to do hours of boring schoolwork and homework. So then the whole week we have almost no time to spend doing other activities such as hockey and soccer and hanging out with friends. Also due to this we are not able to have a good physical healthy lifestyle. We also need time to develop other skills like social skills, and just have time to ourselves to play games, watch a movie, go out, or just to relax. I think that a solution could be that are teachers could give us sometime in class to finish or to do most of our homework...

It is not healthy for an adult student to work and attend to other aspects of their life without thinking about leaving the college environment and just tend to the everyday need of their families. Adult learners are returning to college by the thousands to learn that they may not be able to handle such a heavy workload when they start out, but some adult learners says that they can handle the pressure of family, school and work. Is this healthy for the adult learners or are they headed for more than they bargain for. Coupled with financial strain, work and family commitments accounts for more than 50 percent of adult college students dropouts according to a study conducted by the Inside Track, a national student coaching company. ...Creativity, Innovation and Quality By Dr A. Blanton Godfrey (Former) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Juran Institute, Inc. I. THREE LINKED IDEAS: CREATIVITY, INNOVATION AND QUALITY Creativity, innovation and quality - what do these three possibly have in common? For any business to be successful, we need all three. Creativity drives the generation of ideas, and we need these constantly. We must continually reinvent our businesses. We must unleash the imagination of everyone in our organization. We must create the playfulness and fun to unleash this imagination. Albert Einstein knew that great thinkers don't have to take themselves too seriously and that: "Imagination is more important than knowledge." -Albert Einstein Innovation is the necessary step to turn these ideas into useful products and services, something we can provide to our customers, and something we can sell. Quality, the entire set of tools now known as total quality management or TQM, is the way we ensure that we know our customers, their needs and expectations, and how we are going to meet these needs and exceed their expectations. Quality also helps us continuously improve our products and services and to continuously reduce our costs of providing them. In this paper we'll try to pull together these three elements of successful entrepreneurship. All three elements - creativity, innovation and quality - have been studied extensively and independently. There are numerous books...

...efficiency. Having work and school time tied together can prevent her from completing her schoolwork early. Also, shifting her Facebook or movies break before bedtime would give her more times during the day to complete other work related tasks. Time wasted tasks Kim spends a large amount of time engaging herself on Facebook, watching movies, and at the gym. Facebook and watching movies would not help her academic growth because it is a social network that causes her to be distracted and lacks attention span. Hence, if she continues to engage herself on Facebook for so long she can reduce her academic writing skills. Similar to watching movies, she does not watch academic developmentally appropriate movies; therefore it does not foster her academic growth. Even in her Head Start job site, the children are only allowed to have a limited amount of time watching videos because their academic performances may be affected. As important, exercising at the gym. Although exercising can really be beneficial for her health she does not have to spend more than an hour exercising. Sometime over working out can cause her body to feel extremely tired. Kim focus too much time trying to lose weight rather than her health specifically. Bad health can lead to poor school performances. Daily Routine Adjustment Some adjustments that can be made are times spent at work and the time spent doing schoolwork. Kim does not...

...neither in favor nor against it and leave the assignment of work up to the discretion of the teacher. Regardless of sides and which is correct—or incorrect, in some cases—than others, it is a topic that everyone will never agree with because of its impact on the children and how they learn to deal with their daily schedule, extracurricular activities, and anything else they may be involved in outside of school. In a USA Today article entitled “Students Without a Childhood: Our Kids Are Overscheduled and Stressed by Schools’ Crazy Demands” children and family advocate Vicki Abeles pleads with schools and parents to acknowledge how schoolwork negatively affects the students. Abeles tells about what her own son goes through as a gateway to explaining what all kids like him experience. She then reports how long and how serious the children/schoolwork problem is. Lastly, Abeles finishes by asserting that giving students less free time by overwhelming them with homework has no correlation to an improvement in grades or test scores. The usage of the Aristotelian appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos makes for a cohesive and respected piece of writing. In “Students Without a Childhood: Our Kids Are Overscheduled by Schools' Crazy Demands," Vicki Abeles spins an elaborate tale about her son Zak by saying, "[H]e's not the carefree teen I wish he could be. . . . [H]e's anxious." By expanding on Zak and his feelings, Abeles effectively tugs on the heartstrings of parents. However, the...

In the year 2020 making a telephone call will be very similar as it is today. But I believe that there will be some major advancements in the technology involved with phone calls. Some of those advancements I can foresee is totally hands-free calling by using the dwellings Wi-Fi and entertainment devices to accept the incoming call and be able to broadcast it over speakers in the entertainment systems of the home. There would be small microphones located in each room so that no headset would need to be worn to take the call. Also there would have to be a way to screen the calls and the phone system would actually vocalize who is calling. Kind of like caller id but a lot better in the fact that there would be no looking at a small screen telling you who called. Also making a call will be simpler as well since the microphones would let you dial via voice command. And with the phone system interlinked with the home entertainment system and computer systems it would have the customers contact list available at just the command of the user’s voice. ii. Eating a meal with your family in the year 2050. Eating a family meal in the year 2050 will be very different than it is 2015. ...Writing academic papers or just your normal day to day school work can be very intimidating at times. As long as I have the determination and the drive to succeed, conquering these obstacles will be a relatively easy task. Unlike traditional college where you go in and sit in a class and have months before you finish, online schooling is much more demanding. It requires that you have the motivation to complete your work on time and learn the material that is presented in front of you. A lot of knowledge can be carried on from one’s high school experience but like many people, polishing up those skills you learned years back is much needed. What I hope to accomplish with my survival guide is to develop much needed strategies that will help me in my studies in college. Conducting research for academic papers or even discussion questions is not just an option but a requirement. There are many ways to conduct research and with all these sources at your fingertips. Because of the many sources the task can seem overwhelming at times. One powerful tool at everyone’s disposal is the internet. This is a very valuable tool because there is a wealth of information available. Be warned because not all the information on the internet is creditable. A good way to get accurate information is to cross reference several sites and exempt information that is not correct. Another way to conduct research is through the University Library. Much like a search engine on the internet, the University...

...Influences in the Teaching Environment Joshua Budde Grand Canyon University: EDU-536 July 4, 2012 Schools today have negative conditions that affect student’s everyday just like when our generation went through elementary, middle, and high school. Some negative conditions consist of unmet needs, thwarted desires, expediency, urge to transgress, temptation, inappropriate habits, poor behavior choices, avoidance, egocentric personality, and neurological based behavior. Each condition has a certain effect on students in schools today. Unmet Needs As a kid or student in today’s society, acceptance plays a major role. Students want to fit into certain groups, be part of the popular group or just have a group of kids accept them into the group. If the students do not fit in, have self-respect, or have fun, then poor behavior comes into play by each of the students that are left out. When I was in school, I was always playing a sport such as basketball and baseball and was a big football fan. Being part of a sports team made it much easier to feel like I was part of a team or made it easier to fit into certain groups. Students who were not part of our group were more likely to get into trouble with bad behavior. Some kids turned to breaking the law, while others turned to drugs. So it turned out to be a good thing that I was part of a team and was able to fit in for the majority of the time. It is important to find ways for each student to feel accepted. The teacher needs...
