With four good resumes in consideration, hiring a sales manager to sell the latest fiber optics to leading wireless manufacturers of five key companies will be a difficult process. After reviewing the resumes several times, the person who is most qualified for the job is Jyoti. Jyoti who was Manager of Wireless Retail Store, she fills most if not all of the criteria’s for the job. She states that the revenues have risen 60% since her taken on the position. . Jyoti being single would be able to dedicate herself during and after work hours to the sales manager position. Jyoti is well spoken and has the ability to understand client needs before developing a sales pitch.
Although the other applicants are well qualified, there are many reasons why they were not chosen. To begin Lynn will be the second choice because she graduated first in her class, proving that she is sophisticated and intelligent enough to increase her vocabulary and language skills. She is also very knowledgeable about fiber optics as evidence by being the leading expert in the fiber optics field. Lynn wrote a paper on fiber optics in relation to cell towers that was recently published in a peer-reviewed journal. However, she has not sold herself enough on the experience for the position; she will not be a good asset for the company because of her lack experience in sale manager. Jake, who was previously an accountant, he has no prior experience in the field and he is only trying to sale because he wants a change of scenery. Hiring him would be a risk and he can possibly end up being a liability to the company instead of an asset. Karen has been in sales for five years but only as a representative, as a business woman she has no experience and not sure she is ready to be a manager
