Fructose is found in berries, most root vegetables, honey, flowers, fruits and vine fruits.
Fructose is typically taken from sugar beets, corn, and sugar cane commercially. Fructose comes in three important commercial forms: The first form is, sucrose, is a compound with one molecule of glucose covalently linked to one molecule of fructose. A child normally goes to preschool around the age of 4. Kids between the ages of 14 to 18 years are considered adolescents. School aged kids grow slower than infants. They have a consistent growth. Food habits are established during this stage. School aged kids will usually eat between four and five times including snacks. It’s important to have a healthy diet and eat nutritious snacks. Snacks make up about 1/3 of a child’s total calorie intake per day. Growing and active children need snacks and should fall under the five food groups. With the rise of childhood obesity, children need to be taught how to choose healthy choice when eating. Snacks should meet energy and nutrient needs. Eating sugar is not going to be nutritious or give them lasting energy. Parents set the example for healthy eating. Both diet and exercise is important with school aged kids. With the technology advancement these days, it’s easy for a child to sit at a computer, in front of a tv, or with a tablet for hours. Children need to be active for at least an hour or more every day. Childhood diabetes is becoming more common.
