The one health problem that most of my family members suffer from is High Blood Pressure. “Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood throughout the body. Many factors affect blood pressure, causing it to change from day to day and throughout the day. We are unable to control some of the factors that increase the risk of developing high blood pressure like being African American, over the age of 35, family history of high blood pressure, or having diabetes, gout or kidney disease, but the good news is that there are some that we can change”!(mckinley.illinois.edu/handouts/blood_pressure_factors.html). In order to maintain a good blood pressure I should have an exercise plan that involves my cardiovascular, I need to exercise at least 2.5 hours a week. I have taken what I've learned in this class and what I have learned by doing a little research and I was able to personalize a nutrition, diet, and exercise plan for myself. For starters, I will need to take a good look at my current habits and that affect my nutrition and exercise plan. I like to believe I eat pretty healthy, but there is always room in improve. I'm not big on candy or sweets. I also have a hate for milk, so I only drink milk when I eat cereal, and milk is a needed for calcium and vitamin D. I love the sun so I tend to believe I get enough vitamin D from the sun. My diet consist of chicken, salad, vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Since I have an office job and the only time that I have to actually get away is during my lunch hour, so I'm not very active at work, so that kill eight hour of my day right there. I like to ride bikes and take walks, and every now and again I will roller blade. I can honestly say that I haven't been doing too much of any of this, as it's been pretty busy for me. Once I get started, I find that it is easy to stick with, to lose the weight that I want to. My weight problem comes from keeping the weight off after I reach my goal. In order for me to start a diet plan, I need to be motivated. I feel that adding an exercise plan to an eating plan will help my progress as well as make me a healthier person. I, as very many Americans live a very busy life-style. I work full time, have a large family, and go to school full time. My biggest challenge is making the time to exercise and sticking with it. During my adult years, my weight has fluctuated in between 125lbs and 200lbs. My height is 5’’8’ I feel the ideal weight for my height is in the 140lbs to 150lbs range. Currently I am 185lbs so getting down to my desired weight is not impossible, but will need me to be prepared to make the time and get myself on the right track. Choosing an eating and exercise plan is not easy, you have to choose goals that are achievable, If you set your schedule and plan to strict, you will grow tired or find the regime to hard to maintain. It is just as important for the individual to follow that eating plan in order to remain healthy. The food one chooses to eat as well as the level of physical activities performed has a significant impact on a person’s health. I have concluded that I am guilty of four of the five most common bad eating habits. These habits include eating on the run, eating large portions, skipping meals, and late night eating. These habits are considered to be bad for various reasons. Eating on the run usually happens when a person is busy and does not have the time to cook a healthy meal. Eating on the run also causes a person to eat quickly usually causing one to eat larger portions in order for the hunger to be satisfied.
