...My first post I explained what my science fair project is. I am showing the effects of erosion and what makes erosion move quickly and how to slow it down. I have started working on the project and putting it together. I have the materials all together and some parts started. I asked for some of my friends help to drink some soda out of 2-liter bottles so that I can use that for my project. I am now waiting on those bottles and my friends are almost done with their soda. I am hoping to gather all of the bottles by tomorrow. Once I have the bottles I will be able to put in some plants that I got along with set up the display to hold the bottles. I have gotten the trifold and have been working on what will be going on that. I do need to go over...

...My Science Fair Project During my seventh grade year in the spring of 2013, I developed my science fair project about the correlations in sportsmanship between middle school boys that participate in sports and their parents. The judges at my school science fair conveyed to me that my project was not a science project. I did not complain about this, and my teacher still allowed me to attend the annual Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF) hosted by Tulane University. I placed first in that competition and ended up winning the Behavioral Science division at the Louisiana Science and Engineering Fair (LSEF), which took place at the campus of Louisiana State University. I learned through this experience that my maintaining...

...This science fair project checks to see which one of the three, tea, coke or coffee stains the teeth the most. The hypothesis is that coke will stain the teeth the most is because of all the sugars in the cola. This project is interesting because a lot of things can stain the teeth; even parents tell to brush and floss because a lot of things can stain the teeth. The achievement in the project is to see which product can stain the teeth the most. How do teeth get discolored? Easy this is called extrinsic, this is when the outside of the tooth (the enamel) is stained, things like coffee, wine, cola, even smoking can stain the teeth. The different parts of the tooth are the enamel, dentin, gingiva, pulp, cementum, periodontal ligament, root,...

...Abstract There is strong interest in "going green," including using products that cause less environmental damage when they are disposed of. In this environmental sciences project, you will compare the toxicity of "green" and conventional liquid detergents using worms as test organisms. Objective The objective of this environmental sciences project is to determine if green detergents are safer for the environment than conventional detergents. Introduction Reduce, reuse, recycle. These are typically known as the three R's of the environment. Every year, Americans throw away billions of containers and other packaging materials that end up in landfills. Reducing the amount of waste you produce is one way to help the environment. Another way to help the environment is to recycle. Many of the things we use every day, like paper bags, soda cans, and milk cartons, are made out of materials that can be recycled. Recycled items are put through a process that makes it possible to create new products out of the materials that come from the old ones. Reusing is another way to help protect the environment. The idea is simple: instead of throwing things away, try to find ways to use them again. The use of grey water to irrigate plants is an example. Grey water is the water produced by showering, cleaning clothes, washing dishes, etc. It does not include human waste (that is called black water, and is not safe to use for irrigation). Clearly, if grey water is to be used for growing...

...Science fair during activity week Introduction This report investigates an activity done during the activity week which took place during the third week in June 2014. The science fair was held during the fourth day and this programme was initiated to demonstrate science related experiments to the students. The experiments were based on form 5 and form 4 practical books. The science fair was conducted by teachers from science department and was divided into three different subjects; physics, chemistry and biology. The objectives of the science fair are; 1. One of the programme during the activity week. 2. As a teaching platform to introduce physics, chemistry, and biology subject to lower secondary and for further understanding in the science subjects for upper secondary. 3. Demonstrate science related experiments based on practical books to students. 4. Introduction to laboratory rules and regulations, apparatus and materials. 5. Help students to relate and understand the science concept learned during class by observing and participating in the experiments Content 1.0 Physics 1.1 Topics 1.1.1 Introduction to physics In the experiments, students were introduced to several apparatus like Vernier caliper and Micrometer for measuring purposes. Students were showed on how to properly use the measuring instruments and how to take a measure using these instruments. 1.1.2 Force and Pressure The experiments were conducted for better understanding...

...Airplane Flight Science Fair Project Research Have you ever wondered how an airplane flies? That happens because of four different factors. This paper explains airplane wings, lift, and stalls during flight. Since the science far experiment is what forces affect the airplane wings during a stall. Using different articles from online resources, flight, lift, and stalls were explained in numerous ways. Thrust, Drag, Weight and Lift are the four factors that allow an airplane to take flight. Dunbar (2003) explains these in depth. Thrust is a force that moves an aircraft in the direction of the motion. It is created with a propeller, jet engine, or rocket. Air is pulled in and then pushed out in an opposite direction. One example is a household fan. Drag is the force that acts opposite to the direction of motion. It tends to slow an object. Drag is caused by friction and differences in air...

...While doing my science fair experiment I experienced some challenges that may have affected my results. There were technical difficulties concerning the volume of the music, spell check on the document, and disabling the touchpad. After realizing that some subjects had played their music at an extremely loud level, for subsequent trials, I made sure that before playing the music, the volume was at a comfortable and tolerable loudness. Google Doc’s spellcheck was inconsistent, as different users had varying settings in which words were sometimes auto corrected automatically. This may cause inaccuracies with the numbers of words spelled incorrectly. I had trouble disabling the touchpad, so I decided to include in the directions I handed out that...

...Will the size of the field of view vary depending on whether a convex or concave mirror is used? Delanie Wheeler Science Fair 10/24/13 Table of Contents Title Page………………..1 Table of Contents……2 Abstract………………….3 Procedure……………….4 Results……………………5 Work Cited……………..6 Abstract Will the size of the field of view vary depending on whether or not a convex or a concave mirror is used? If an object is viewed through a concave mirror instead of a convex mirror, then the field of view will increase. Convex mirrors will show a larger field of view. The procedure followed was to use two concave and convex mirrors that were the same size and to take a picture of the field of view that they both showed. Then, after the pictures were printed, use them to measure the area of the two fields of view. This was repeated five times and an average was obtained. The results were that the convex mirror’s field of view was larger than the concave mirror’s field of view. The convex mirror’s average field of view at 20 feet away was 35 feet across. The concave mirror’s average field of view at 20 feet away was 10 feet across. The logical conclusion is that convex mirrors make images appear smaller than they are, but this allows you to see more in the mirror. In other words, the field of view is larger when using a convex mirror. Review of Research A convex mirror...

...Science Fair Research Acne is an extremely common feature among all people of different ages and races, and is often disregarded as anything serious. However, acne is actually classified as a skin disease that affects over 80 percent of people, whether it is only temporarily or for a lengthier period of time. When the pores of the skin are obstructed with oil and bacteria, it results in pimples on the surface. The bacterium most associated with this process is Proprionibacterium acnes and Staphylocccus epidermidis. These pathogens gain their nutrients when cells of follicles shed frequently and clump due to excess oil being produced. This causes the bacterium to multiply more rapidly, producing acne as a result. In addition, where there are more bacteria, there is more inflammation. Damages on the surface of the skin due to this can range from mild to severe, and can also leave permanent marks and scarring. (Lerner, 2014)....

...Also, the last important change is that some experts and scientists are involved in the editing process of Wikipedia. The Wikipedia Science Conference was held by Wikipedia's volunteering editors in 2015 in order to "reach out to scientists to enlist their help and bridge the gap between the online encyclopedia and the research community" (Hodson). This involvement of scientists and experts can work effectively in fixing errors; As a result, the accuracy of information can be enhanced greatly. The worry about the accuracy of the online encyclopedia is unnecessary; in contrast, the actual accuracy of Wikipedia is acceptable. Not only just because it is an accuracy information source, the online encyclopedia can be considered as a better option...

...Lily Huntzinger 4-16-16 ELA Science Fair Research Paper Soda has been around for as long as people can remember. More than 100 years ago to be exact. It started when Joseph Priestly invented carbonated water by putting this mix of carbon dioxide on top of a vat of fizzing beer. From then on, soda was used to cure people in the 19th century. It was used in local pharmacies and for medical treatment (author unknown, 2015). Following, soda then become a satisfying beverage with too many flavors to count. Lemon lime, orange, grape and many more. This yummy drink had people fooled for many years. Now soda is a big mixture of fake flavors, carbonated sugar water, and a big lake of acids and chemicals (Nocito,2013). Sodas ingredients used to be made with all natural flavors that were not only good for you, but yummy and satisfying as well. It was a blend of fruits and vegetables along with seltzer and herbs. It also contained syrups of all different flavors. No one could resist this bubbling drink. Containing only a pinch of sugar, it wasn't as bad for a person's health than store bought sodas. For its sweetener, the soda used organic honey. It makes people wonder why there was big transition from healthy to unhealthy....

...Cindy Vasquez Professor Tonetti 2/4/15 ENG 023 State fair When people arrive to the festival, they see the blue, red, yellow and white lights, the smell of fried food and they see the big stuff animals to take home and how people form in lines just to enjoy the festival with all the attractions that one festival has. Many families wait for that day to come to enjoy quality time together. In the article Garrison Keillor explains how the fair is very similar to the mercer’s Italian Festival and there’s many similar things that stands out. Many families love to go to fairs to distract their mind from everything. It’s a way to take away stress. First of all Garrison Keillor explains how greasy and delicious the food is, that is one major factor that makes the Mercer festival similar to the one in the book. People wait in line just to waist their hard earned money on unhealthy greasy food, yet they enjoy every bite of it. Its one day that the family can eat anything they want because the simple fact that they can’t eat it daily. In both festivals they serve hot dogs, sausage, ice cream, fried food such as, fried snickers, French fries and fried Oreos. Second of all many families spend so much money in arcades and prize games, they either come out empty handed or with large stuffed prizes. For instance both festivals have three very similar prize games such as, basketball, ring toss, and squirt water into the clown’s mouth. People go to ATM’s to take out money to spend on games...
