...I. Introduction The SCM Globe system is a learning tool whose purpose is to provide hands on education in the basic dynamics of supply chain management. During the course of the semester, while using the SCM Globe simulation and performing the activities related to the case study presented, students were afforded the opportunity to manage and operate different supply chains. Students got a firsthand feel of how supply chains operate. A. Overview of Cincinnati Seasonings Supply Chain The Cincinnati Seasonings Supply Chain case study is a basic simulation of a simple supply chain to support a company that designs and markets food seasonings and sells its products in stores throughout the Midwestern United States. The purpose of the case study is to familiarize students with how to set up a supply chain and simulate its operations. Students get practice defining the product that the supply chain handles and in setting up the facilities, vehicles and routes that make up the supply chain. When students simulate the operation of the supply chain that is created they will get an appreciation of some of the central challenges involved in operating a supply chain. Students will get insights into balancing the need to run a responsive supply chain that never lets its customers run out of product with the need to run an efficient supply chain that also minimizes supply chain inventory and operating cost. Cincinnati Seasonings is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The founder of...

...End-of-term SCM Globe Summary paper Overview and learning objective: The personal experiences with simulation and modeling exercises are unique to an individual decision-maker. The goal of the Cincinnati Seasonings exercise is not the final outcome. Achievement is measured within the learning and accomplishments as a student evaluates options, selects an action plan, monitors results, and makes further adjustments. In a continuous improvement model, this approach is the "plan-do-check-act" cycle. During week 10 as the simulation draws to a close, the paper is an opportunity for each student to perform a personal assessment of what went well and the aspects that could be future improvement areas as that person approaches future logistics network challenges. Students will share their papers in a conference and peers will have an opportunity to compare their learning achievement with others. I. Introduction A. Overview of Cincinnati Seasonings - provide a narrative about the company and its business goals and objectives. This information is based upon the user manual. B. The initial supply chain scenario- describe the supply chain as of Week Two when the simulation exercise began. This includes the starting parameters and network configuration. II. Accomplishments (these are the aspects reflecting your own contributions towards stabilizing and improving the supply chain) A. What went well - what aspects of the simulation results were favorable? These were your major strides...

...Abstract The Cincinnati Seasonings Supply Chain is a mockup of a supply chain to support a company that designs and markets food seasonings and sells its products in stores throughout the United States. The purpose of the case study was to familiarize students with setting up a supply chain and simulate its operations. The thought process was to define the product and set up the facilities, vehicles, and routes to have an effective and efficient supply chain. The challenge for the entire exercise was to get the Supply Chain to run continuously for thirty days or more, without interruption or running out of product. Cincinnati Seasonings is a family owned and operated business; the founder was born and raised in Ohio. Cincinnati is famous for its chili but these seasonings add a special spice and flavor to the Chili that no other seasoning offers. Cincinnati Seasonings has done very well and is expanding but the company is always searching for ways to keep costs down and figure out how to run the operation as efficiently as possible. Simulation The purpose of the simulation was to create a supply chain to support the Cincinnati Seasonings business and see how the inventory was transferred through different facilities. After initially setting up the Supply Chain, it was very difficult to keep it running without interruption for more than twenty to thirty days at a time. In order to have the Supply Chain run consecutively, you had to create or delete product, add trucks...
