It defines it as being what makes us an individual; what separates us from others. It describes it as a way to compare and categorize people. Such as some are introverts as others are extroverts; some are neurotic while others simply are not. Personality is of great interest to researchers. Researchers want to know why people are the way they are; “how they are put together”. It goes further into briefly discussing different theories of personality, how they came about, and faults in those theories. The writing states that the theorist were influenced by their current time and culture which help to depict the basis for their theories. For example, ethnocentrism; Freud went completely opposite of what the culture at his time influenced. In Europe in the 1800’s to talk about “sex” would be taboo, people...

We would do this by first looking to get large manufacturing companies since they are most likely to have excess raw material stock. At first we would look to deal with mainly the textile industry and then would look to expand to various other materials thus expanding the scope of our target market. The objective of my company would be to help textile manufacturing companies find suitable buyers and sellers for surplus or waste textile materials. These supplies are just left in storage, disposed of, or the enterprises must themselves go out to find suitable purchasers. Instead of these manufacturers actually spending any of their time or resources, we would be helping them find buyers. The term for this sort of market is “Industrial Symbiosis”. What this means is an association between two or more industrial facilities or companies in which the wastes or by-products of one become the raw materials for another (Wrap.org.uk, 2015). The potential market we would be...

...Ethical Scrapbook: Part II James Bush CJS/211 September 14, 2015 Michael Raneses Ethical Scrapbook: Part II The twelve examples used in the Ethical Scrapbook: Part I will be analyzed in order to answer several questions. The examples in the scrapbook are in the following categories: Good Samaritan conduct or random acts of kindness Acts of vigilantism-violating the law to enforce the law Acts of civil disobedience-violating the law to change the law Criminal acts committed by professionals in the course of their employment Questions The following will be answered about the examples: Do you think the individual made the best decision possible given the circumstances? Could you see yourself acting similarly in similar circumstances? Example 1 the victim had her car stolen and she proceeded to give chase and grab bystander’s attention, she made the best decision possible however I don’t think this was very safe looking backwards but I probably would have done the same thing. Example 2 was a random act of kindness I do believe this was the thing to do and would like to think that I would be so kindhearted to react the same way and pay the blind man without any regards for heroism. The third example in this set is also random act of kindness and good Samaritans. The community worked together after a collision involving a mother and daughter. The people pulled her from the vehicle and waited with the child in the cool building...

...Ethical Scrapbook Part II Students Name CJA/324 Ethics in Criminal Justice Date Instructor Ethical Scrapbook Part II Ethics are a part of nearly everything that we as a society do. Whether we are late for work or even filing your federal taxes, an ethical decision is being made. Life is about choices, morals, and principles. In the field of criminal justice, ethics can be applied as well. Just as police are sworn to serve and protect by oath for the principles by which they are governed, so are most professions today. “Should All Jurisdictions Have a Good Samaritan Law Requiring an Individual to Help Another if They Are Able?” Requiring persons to help another when they are able without percussions of being sued against death or permanent damage to the victim has been helpful in certain situations where ambulatory assistance has not yet arrived. Often times a person can prevent death or stabilize a person until help arrives. If a person moves another person in need and actually causes permanent damage to them, they are not held accountable for that; in other words, they cannot be sued. I believe that there should be a law regarding Good Samaritans; however, I do not believe that it should be required. While the law is helpful, it can also be hurtful. For example, going back to my example above, should the person in need now be permanently immobilized, they cannot go after the person that helped for financial or medical money or charges incurred because...

McNeil Ethical Scrapbook Part 1 Good Samaritan Acts- Oprah Winfrey The bulk of Winfrey’s giving has gone to educational causes, including charter schools, programs that support African-American students, and the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa. According to Forbes, Winfrey had given away approximately $400 million to educational causes by 2012, including nearly 400 scholarships to Morehouse College, and more than $40 million in operating support for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa. She’s also given at least $10 million to A Better Chance. Its mission is to improve access to quality education for students of color, and has given $1 million or more to at least nine different charter school organizations in a number of different areas throughout the country (insidephilanthropy.com, 2015). Princess Diana Diana’s interests were reflected in the organizations of which she was Patron or President. These included the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London and the Royal Marsden Hospital, which specializes in the treatment of cancer. Her patronages also included Centrepoint, an organization working with the homeless, The National Aids Trust and The Leprosy Mission. The Princess's love of the arts was underlined by her involvement as Patron of the English National Ballet. During her lifetime she was at some time patron...

...October Scrapbook Entry What teacher has impacted me the most? The teacher that impacted me the most, is my former mathematics teacher. Her name is Mrs. Lueken and I had here from 5th grade up til my last year of high school. As I already mentioned, she was my math teacher, but I also had her in politics and art. She was not my favorite teacher, especially not in mathematics. I liked her better in art then in any other subject. Even though I did not like her as my math teacher, she still had the biggest impact on me, in my whole academic career. She was the first teacher to tell me I can do better then I did back then. I hated her for telling me every day, that I can do better if I put some afford into it. Back then I thought I put...

Even if someone is not creative, this is an easy hobby - just about anyone can do it…and it is fun! Speaker Credibility: I was on my high school yearbook staff as editor for 2 years, and in that time I learned the true value of a photograph. From that point on, I began taking pictures of everything, but I never did anything with them. Then I discovered scrapbooking and instantly knew that was what would make a great home for my pictures. I can express my creative side and show how special my pictures are to me. Thus began my addicting hobby. A year and a half… and 3 scrapbooks later, I still engage in my hobby every day, literally. ...Ethical Scrapbook Part 2 Team D CJS/211 October 12, 2015 Ethical Scrapbook Part 2 Team D created a scrapbook of ethics such as Good Samaritan conduct, acts of vigilantism and disobedience, and criminal acts committed by professionals in the course of their employment. We each learned about the topics and discovered several examples to better explain and help us have a better understanding of each ethical standpoint for the scrapbook. In this next part of the scrapbook, we will be discussing each ethical view by answering questions and relaying our own personal opinions as well. Good Samaritan Law According to the Good Samaritan Law, a person is protected if they give reasonable assistance to those who are, or who they believe to be, injured, ill, in peril, or otherwise incapacitated. This is dependent on the State. The protection is intended to reduce bystanders' hesitation to assist, for fear of being sued or prosecuted for unintentional injury or wrongful death. Many people have helped others, and some have even been sued for it. In December of 2004, a group of people were on their way home after a party, when they got into a car accident. One of the people pulled the other out of the car, because she feared it would catch on fire. Because of this, the women that were pulled out became a Paraplegic. She later sued her friend for pulling her out of the car. In California, a Good Samaritan can be sued. On March 11, 2009 in Ohio, two men Mark Kinkaid and David Kelley...

...Ethical Scrapbook Part 2 Karim Richardson CJS/211 University of Phoenix Ethical Scrapbook Part 2 In today's day and age, there is no anticipating what will happen when somebody is pushed either as far as possible, or put in another circumstance. There are such a variety of variables when attempting to make sense of how a man will respond in the wake of confronting another circumstance. In any case, some ensured responses include: great Samaritan acts, vigilante acts, demonstrations of common rebellion, and individuals damaging moral codes in the working environment. A portion of the best individuals in today's general public are the ones that will make a special effort to help somebody that they don't know since they require help. In spite of the fact that I feel like these great Samaritans are a portion of the best individuals, I don't think all wards ought to have laws making somebody submit a decent Samaritan act. There are Ethical Scrapbook Part 2 numerous individuals that can help everybody that they find needing assistance, who simply don't feel that they have room schedule-wise, or they feel qualified and don't need for stoop as low as somebody who is in need, particularly on the off chance that it comes to monetary issues. While these laws would not work, they would in any case be pleasant in principle. On the off chance that they did work there would be not very many individuals asking when they are in need. Then again, it could be terrible...

This idea of storing pictures in a scrapbook has been around for a very along time. Most of the products that are available such as acid and wood-products used in paper can damage the photographs. New technology has come along in recent years that include acid-free paper and has revolutionized the method of preserving photos. Scrapbooking has become a popular hobby and can help to tell a story. Card-making has also become a popular hobby and the same supplies that are used in scrapbooking can also be used in card-making. Imagine the excitement that friends and families have when presented with something homemade such as cards. The Stampin’ Room realizes the frustration when supplies that are needed to create that special scrapbook or card are not readily available. The local stores such as JoAnn’s, Michael’s, and Hobby Lobby don’t specialize in this hobby and may carry a limited inventory....

...Ethical Scrapbook Part II Rosieanna Smith-Lee, April Chiofalo Johnson, Eddie Little, Inez Gonzales, Melody Kibbe CJA/324 June 2, 2014 Instructor Angela J. Sonsalla Ethical Scrapbook Part II Clearly for one to understand and practice ethical behaviors, they must know what ethics means. Ethics is a set of standards that informs individuals how they should behave in every aspect of our lives. Because ethics involves seeing the differences between right and wrong, an individual must make a commitment to do what is right by any means necessary. Ethics is not just doing what an individual must do but also doing what an individual should do. Many individuals failed to realize when they perform unethical behaviors there is a price to pay and not taking the time to think things through before they act may cost them their livelihood as well as damage their credibility and character. However, practicing good ethics can result in one gaining respect integrity among the individuals one interacts with daily. Because all individuals are different and not one individual thinks or view things the same, it easy to determine that as it relates to ethics each individual may have different viewpoints. This ethical scrapbook explored 12 examples related to ethical and unethical values and morals as a team to determine what examples we agreed on and what examples we did not agree on as well as allowed the team to discuss what the disagreement...
