In this class I have learned a lot about many different things that is related to psychology and many of them by far are really important key factors to how we humans survive on this planet. My favorite thing I learned about was the sleep cycles. Who knew we had so many stages that we have to go through in order to be actually fully asleep, it just blows my mind. I.am totally one of the people who considered sleep a most definite thing humans need to survive, as I am a full time student, single mother and have a full time job. Who knew we have 5 stages asleep that we go through each night. I by far think it’s awesome that each stage of sleep our body does something or functions to make a certain part of our body stop so called being active at night. The first stage out muscle activity slows down. Wow talk about an involuntary thing, I don’t think any person thinks that they will make their muscles slowly down, but as we relax this happens. Just like in the second stage, our heart rate and breathing slows down, also involuntary because we can’t control it, this just happens when we are extremely rested, and almost asleep. Now the third stage we are asleep. And our brain generates in waves. We have rhythmic breathing and limited muscle activity in the fourth stage. And finally the best stage of sleep for me is the REM sleep. This one gets me so excited that I wish I can go straight to it every night right when I go to sleep!!!!! This is where all of us who actually get sleep are totally relaxed our brainwaves speed up and we dream!!!! This part right here is my favorite. I love to have dreams because it makes me sometimes forget what my day was like. I love to have dreams because I feel like I leave my body and am far away. My favorite dreams are the ones that feel real, like flying to a land far away where there are pirates you get to fight. My dreams are what make me relax, and sometimes freak out if they are nightmares. Over all in this class I have learned a lot but the sleep cycles have made an important impact in my life. And I am happy that I can dream because there are people in the world who can’t, and I do not think that would be fun. Our sleep cycles are the coolest thing and it’s amazing to realize that there are so many of them we have to go through to actually get to sleep.
