...SDLC Value Paper X.X. Xarris BSA/376 March XX, 20xx Professor B. Anders SDLC Value Paper A systems development life cycle (SDLC) is more or less the life of a business. An SDLC is one of the key elements that support an organization’s information system. According to Satinzer etal, 2009, “the life of an information system, it is first conceived as an idea; then it is designed, built, and deployed during a development project; and finally it is put into production and used to support the business.” There are numerous approaches used during the life cycle development. One approach is a more definitive method with risks that are relatively low, this approach is predictive. Meanwhile, on the other hand another approach that is more undefined, with risks that are much higher technically, because there is no well-defined understanding of what the user needs are, this approach is known as adaptive. There are many employees (project manager, system analyst, developer), as well as others (customers, investors, and even suppliers) who have a stake in and are involved in the SDLC process, their roles differ largely as well. The role of the Project Manager is central to the entire SDLC process, this individual is involved closely, and is very much needed, and without management being heavily involved it is likely the process will fall apart. Project managers ensure that there are no resource shortages, such as staff, budgetary requirements, and other necessary elements that...

...Value of the Systems Development Life Cycle Lisa Larkin BSA/376 March 30, 2015 Deborah Marshall Value of the Systems Development Life Cycle Every organization can benefit from the use of a formal Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to develop and manage projects. This paper will describe the components of the formal SDLC process, and discuss how each component is used to provide a framework for a project. The SDLC process involves the project manager, system analyst, and developer. Their roles are an integral part of the SDLC process and will determine whether a solution is developed or discarded. There are four basic elements which comprise the SDLC process; project planning, analysis, design, and implementation. Regardless of the scope or size of a project the SDLC provides a guide to develop a solution to a problem using technology (Satzinger, Jackson & Burd, 2009). Project planning defines the specific problem and identifies the scope the new system will address. During the project planning phase feasibility of the project is determined. A schedule or timeline, as well as a staff will also be developed. Resources will be organized, milestones will be identified, and control procedures will be put in place during this phase. Budgets for the project will also be determined at this time. The next element of the SDLC process is analysis. The analysis phase of the SDLC is used to gather information from the end users and learn as much as possible about...

The BCMA is used when a patient needs medication; each nurse scans the patient bracelet as well as the medication that will be given to the patient to verify this is the correct medication for that patient. Vistas became the instrument of change at the VA in the mid 1900’s and since this change Veteran hospitals and care facilities have noticed a drastic change in patient care in health care records. Veteran healthcare facilities started up doing the Civil War in 1865. Veteran hospital and healthcare facilities started off just like any other hospital or healthcare facility by using paper and writing down patient information and later filing that patient information. Twenty years ago veteran hospitals used the...

...Club IT Club IT is a nightclub owned and operated by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada. The club has retained and even increased its niche customer base making it a success, so far. The evenings are usually the busiest time for Club IT because locals enjoy going out to eat, drink, and socialize with friends. Ruben and Lisa decided with this success it is time to expand; more specifically, they want to expand on their information system for more than profitability to the club but to allow their customers additional information and reliability. A nightclub is a different type of business and there is much to learn, through monitoring I have come to learn the clubs current needs and their targeted demographics. Club IT offers their patrons a high-energy night of food, drinks, music, and dancing in an energetic, friendly, and safe atmosphere. Club IT has a clientele ranging from those in their early 20s to the mid or late 30s. Most of the club’s clientele are considered to be of the Net Generation, and sometimes referred to as Millennial; these are people who embrace new and the most popular technologies as soon as they are released. Oftentimes technology clever individuals will wait in lines for hours to gather the newest technology products. The Net Generation customer is constantly changing so the club needs to ensure he or she do not become bored and take his or her business elsewhere. Club IT has a website, but it is not using it to the fullest potential, the club needs to promote...

...1.4 THE PHASES OF SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE Before get on to the phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), come we make clear our-self on the definition of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). System is a wide and a common term and is an exercise of mutually beneficial or interacting elements forming an integrated whole which a term that can be utilized in different industries. Hence, System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a constricted term that states the of six main stages to creating hardware system only, a software element only or that mixes with other software components to create the whole system of both to meet or exceed customer’s expected values. From the below figure 1 we can understand on the basic six phases...

...A Technical View of System Analysis and Design Abstract System Analysis and Design is a process. Analysis is the part that involves the study of the units working together. Design is an essential phase in the development process based on the user needs. System Analysis and Design is an approach towards reinforcing the analysis and design of information systems with the objective of improving the system performance by automation. This paper explores the Managers outlook and importance of System Analysis and Design as well as the exploration into organizations that utilize System Development and Design. We uphold that continual and extensive use of current System Analysis and Design Methodologies will assist in the development of an effective system. Key Words: System Analysis, System Design, Methodologies Introduction Computers are now becoming part of virtually every activity in an organization. This paper explores the relationship between the organizations and managers of IS projects and the usefulness and need for IS project managers to become more knowledgeable to be able to effectively anticipate and deal with conflicts that arise as a consequence of information systems creation or modifications in organizations. The development of a system basically involves two major parts: System Analysis and System Design. System Analysis is defined as the study of a business problem domain or area to recommend improvements and specify the business requirements...

...Teams The history of systems development Systems development was seen in the earlier years as a predominantly practical, technical process that led to a problem-solving philosophy accepted by computer professionals as a purely technical process aimed at solving problems which are defined in mostly technical terms. This mechanistic bias in the systems development process can be the leading factor in information systems failure. (Maguire, 2000:232-236) Agile Development The philosophy of agile development The philosophy of agile is defined in a Manifesto. In this Manifesto the values are outlined that should be in agile development. These values state that individuals and their interactions must be more important than processes and tools. How the SDLC and Agile methods compare In outline the distinction between the SDLC and Agile methods can be formulated as follows: The SDLC The SDLC has a technical bias. It...

...Science, human beings can survive up to two weeks or even a month without food but cannot without water. Many projects had been proposed in order to get clean water such as deep-well; water pumps and etc., until water companies came wherein clean water were supplied in our house. It has been decades when water companies and corporations started to supply water to our communities. Through this, water supply is no longer a problem of our society. But at the present situation of our environment, nature is being harmed by over-using of its resources specially the trees. Green technology has been one of the solutions to conserve our natural resources. Experts and technologist all over the world are creating technologies like paper less systems to conserve the paper trees in our surroundings. As part and support of this campaign, also to help the water companies and the people lessened the charges they are paying for the cost of printing their bills and to solve the problem of sometimes delayed water bills. The researchers plan to develop an “Online Water Billing and Customer Application System with SMS”. Through the use of the said system, the customer bills will be send through SMS which helps the water billing to be paperless. Statement of the Problem This study aims to develop an “Online Water Billing and Customer Application System with SMS” for Water District of San Isidro in order to solve the problems in customer billing...

...Enables Processes Paper Introduction Enterprise Architecture is defined as the representation of all the components, processes and policies of an organization. Architecture is the process of moving a business vision and strategy into effective change, communicating the current capabilities and rethinking the principles and models that describe the future state of the company and facilitate their evolution (Fui-Hoon, Lee-Shang, and Kuang, 2001). Enterprise Architecture is a strategic practice, which connects the relationship between business initiatives that leverage technology, to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies for transformation, from the current architecture to an architectural model that represents a future vision. The enterprise architecture must be aligned with the business model, defining a logical structure for implementing the strategy. The requirements to be met by enterprise architecture model are given by the strategic business objectives. The operational model of Enterprise Architecture should establish baselines model relationship between Business and IT, through the definition and description of business processes of an organization. It will be necessary to create cross-sectional areas as organization, IT Architecture and Quality, among others. Enterprise Architecture Enables SDLC The enterprise architecture complements the phases of system development life cycle. The SDLC consists of...

...System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) SDLC is a set of activities which are perform by analyst and developer to create the system for software. SDLC is a conceptual model used in project management that describes the stages involved in information system development project from a preliminary study through maintenance of the complete application. SDLC follows six steps-: 1 Preliminary study 2 Determination of system requirement 3 System design 4 Software development 5 System testing 6 Implementation & Maintenance 1 Preliminary study -: Preliminary investigation is the first step in the system development life cycle. The preliminary investigation is a way of handling the user’s request to change, improve or enhance an existing system. The objective is to determine, whether the request is valid and feasible before any recommendation is made to do nothing, improve or modify the existing system, or build altogether a new one. Preliminary study divided into following 3 categories – A. Request Analysis B. Feasibility study C. Request Approval Request Analysis:- In this category, the users need is clearlyIdentify. Analyst identifies that what are the requirements of the user. Feasibility study:- The aim of the feasibility study is to access alternative systems and to propose the most feasible and desirable system for development. Thus, feasibility study provides an overview of the problem and acts as an important checkpoint that should be completed before committing more...
