The Ocean Sail

This picture was taken by myself in Galveston, Texas. I am not a big fan of taking pictures, but this one was different. It made me feel like there are some sides to me that have not been discovered yet. I am learning new things about myself and there’re still things I will experience for the first time in my life. I felt in love with this ship; I felt like I always loved sailing and the sea but I never knew it until that day. I was staring for a long time at the ships sails and trying to read it. That wasn’t crazy, I just tried to have a conversation with a ship. I felt like it has a story, how couldn’t it. That’s what it does; it goes sailing in the oceans and seas for weeks or months. I wondered if it could tell its own story. What would it say?

I wondered it would be a sad, long story. It told me about the years it spent over the sea and every time it looked at itself in the clear water. It said to me how it gets older every year and how it could notice. Maybe it would tell me how strong it was while riding one of the meanest storms in the sea and how it fought it’s way while the wind blew and how it then lay on one side during the storm trying to avoid sinking into the wide, blue ocean.

It told me about its strong crew and how devoted they were during the storm. It said of how scared it was it when the storm got stronger, threatening to leave it stranded and surrounded by water from everywhere while water would be pouring inside forcing to sink it, but the crew; they would not give up on it and how they’d see how impossible the feat but they lived together for many years when all they had was her; it’s their home. She’d always stay and fight by them and surely they would do the same for it. She was certain they would.

“It was as if I never felt a thing during my 85 years of sailing the ocean,” the ship would say. There must be a connection built between me and the sailor and the crew, its not an option in our field, because we face danger, waves and winds all the time during our voyages That’s why I think people treat me well, they rely on me and I rely on them, that’s how our connection started.
It said, “I will tell you a story.” I had listened so closely as if it were telling me a secret.
