The day they shot John Lennon This play directed by Nancy Kephart a (Columbus state theater instructor) and performed by members of the Columbus State Theater, was staged in the Nestor Hall Auditorium where it ran from august 18th to august 21st. Although as the name may suggest the play is set around the events of the death of the Beatles singer John Lennon, however this play is more about the frustration of society in general during the 60s and early seventies. Before the start of the play, there was a slide show of pictures of members of the Beetles Band, and of John lemon and his wife Yoko Ono. There were also pictures of fans and mourners, some crying, some carrying placards bearing tributes to this famous song writer, musician and performer. The slide show was accompanied by soft background music most sand by Lennon himself, although there were some songs from his original Band the Beatles. The stage was set up to resemble central park in New York, with benches, low brick walls, street lights and sidewalks. Just opposite the main stage was a line of bright yellow police crime scene tapes strong around police barricades with NYPD written on them. There are posters of john Lennon hanging on all over the stage, some in color, but most in black and white. The lighting on the stage kept changing from scene to scene, focusing on different characters at different times. There were a total of nine characters in this play, divided into four groups. There were the two disgruntled Vietnam veterans, frustrated by the system abandoned by their government, and neglected by society. One of whom seems to be suffering from an extreme case of post traumatic stress disorder. There is the group of rebellious pot smoking teenagers, who think their parents are nothing but old fashioned and a nuisance to them. There
