Selena Quintanilla Pérez was a tejano singer, songwriter and dancer, she was also a fashion designer and actress. Her life was filled with music, dance, and joy. Unfortunately, her life ended at a young age of 23. Her death was caused by being shot by the president of her fan club. Throughout her career, she was loved by many, therefore she won quite a few awards.
In her short 23 years, Selena was nominated for 86 awards total, winning 67 of those. She won 36 Tejano Music Awards, 14 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 10 Lo Nuestro Awards, 5 BMI Awards and 1 award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The Spirit of Hope Award was even created in her honor in 1996, it was awarded to Latin artists who participated in humanitarian and civic causes.
