To start this self assessment I want to post that the only thing to achieve the goals that you want is by working hard and that is what I did. So the first change that I did this semester was learn how to be more self-productive and organized because when I realized that the best way to learn more is reorganize the time for studying each subject ,I did it inmediately . Well , I have definitely learnt a lot more this second semester I think that this semester and I did it quite good in almost every English class, so it made me really happy because I wanted to do my best in order to improve my English. For example, I enriched my vocabulary , I studied different grammar structures that I had ever studied before, such as Reported speech , Passive voice , Tag question etc . …show more content…
In other hand ,I improved my pronunciation in terms of ED , S and ES endings , linking words and strong and weak forms , because it helped me to have a natural pronunciation.

I believe that my greatest weaknesses this semester were listening and identify assumptions in critical thinking class, but I know that the only way to improve my listening is by listening more english talks or something like that and in critical thinking I should study more about it . About my strenghts were speaking and writing and it made so happy because I noticed a change in compare with the first semester, also the first semester Use of English class was a little bit complex for me and now I think that I did better without a lot difficulties

Language Development

...Mary W. Douglas January 21, 2013 Explain some forms of language assessment that you use with children? In the Montessori classroom, assessment occurs in 4 ways. * The Montessori three period lesson. * 1st Period: I (the teacher) show and name a new concept. Example: “These shapes are congruent.” * 2nd Period: I then (at a later time) ask the student to show a particular concept. Example, “Show me the congruent shapes.” * 3rd Period: Finally, I ask the student to recall the concept. Example: “What are these shapes called?” * The materials are self-correcting which shows my students when they have made a mistake so they know to go back and try again. * There is an isolation of difficulty in the lesson sequence that allows me (the teacher) and the child to assess understanding of complex processes from the beginning to the end. * Eudsoft Unit Testing. Edusoft is a Benchmark Assessment Program that East Baton Rouge Parish School System utilizes. The tests content is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Each unit test has both multiple choice and open-ended items. How do you work to meet the language goals of all the children in your class individually? Individual learning takes place within the Montessori environment. The Montessori classroom is prepared with a wealth of materials selected and designed to meet the needs of the children individually. This allows each child to learn at their own pace. What techniques...

B M Visitation Essay

...Visitation has a large Hispanic demographic. There is also a presence of African American and Vietnamese students. Statistics have shown that over 30% of all school -aged children come from homes where English is not the primary language. This number percentage may be even higher for B.V.M Visitation. A majority of these students come from Spanish families and a good portion of these students speak Spanish at home. Ms. Bandura tells me that there is only one student in her class whose primary language is not English, but that there are about 10-20 students in all of Visitation who are in the same boat. This student goes to an English Language Learner’s classroom where he gets direct help with English. In this classroom, the student receives one-on-one attention from a teacher. The teacher works on his speech and use of the English language with him. He specifically struggles with reading and decoding words. This student is on level 3 when it comes to English Language Proficiency. A level three student is able to use and understand series of related sentences, able to understand and use simple written English...

(Rashtchi & Ghandi, 2011) They want to impart that revising is an important part of the writing process and that using different revision strategies help produce better written compositions, communication and critical thinking skills. Language Barriers

...Running Head: Overcoming Language Barriers in NC Pre-K Classrooms How to Overcome Language Barriers in NC Pre-K Classrooms FCS 711- Research and Inquiry in Family and Consumer Science Dr. Rosa Purcell Meisha Conrad April 28, 2014 Introduction Being a teacher at a Head Start/ Early Head Start program I have experienced the language barriers between teachers and students from different ethnic groups. I can say it is not easy when you and your students cannot communicate. Dealing with the situation makes you question yourself and how you can fix the language barriers in your own classroom and also the school. What can teachers do to overcome the language barrier in our classrooms with our Latino children? What are some activities, lessons, games, and etc., that we can do to make a connection and also help them learn? There are many ways I think we can put a stop to the language barriers in school. We may not be able to completely fix the problem but there are ways and things we can do to make our Latino children and parents feel welcome and comfortable when they walk into the schools. Communication is an important part of teaching because the children have to be able to understand the message that the teacher is trying to convey. Children also have to be able to communicate with each other. There are a number of factors in the classroom and many...

...classroom. My purpose in the classroom is to create a free space where students can engage in critical thinking, making inferences and supporting their ideas and opinions with primary and secondary sources. I believe it is important to utilize up to date pieces of information to engross the student’s attention and participation in the classroom. Being that our students are technologically savvy I also believe it is important to incorporate technology into lesson planning. I am also fluent in Greek and am to communicate with students and parents from Greek-speaking households in hopes to promote their parents in the student’s education. In conjunction I make sure that I accommodate the ELL students by providing them the sources in both English and in their native language to ensure that all the students not only understand and comprehend the content but also be capable to draw their own ideas and thoughts from the sources. Nursing Rn to Bsn Essay

...together as a class. Even as an online class where we don’t see each other face to face, I have learned so much from my other classmates through discussion boards when reading their posts as well as the feedback they provide me. With two weeks left for this term, I am still open to learning more from my classmates as well as the benefits of technology. In answering the discussion assignment this week about specific technology equipment that we could not live without, I was able to use the checklist we filled out from the first week. As mentioned from my last journal entry, we are always building on the prior week’s material in order to help prepare us for the current week. Therefore, I was able to use the checklist as a guide to help with this week’s discussion assignment. In reflecting on how much technology has evolved over the years growing up, I learned that living without it would be difficult. However, learning about techno-stress was an interesting topic where we often rely on technology on a daily basis which causes our stress level to rise. As a result, we get too involved or “plugged-in” with technology that it can be over stimulating for us which can lead to dangerous situations. As much as technology has become so productive in our daily lives, I learned that taking a break from our computers and cell phones can be a good thing once in a while to decrease our stress levels. One aspect of week 4’s classroom resources that surprised me was the self-assessment...

Essay On Large Class

...point of their teaching career. It also revealed that teachers are not comfortable in teaching large number of learners in class because it hampers teaching English language. Based on the first question, the variance in teachers' opinions is due to the fact that every teacher has his own perception about the number that makes large classes. Defining a large class depends to great extent on how the teacher perceives a large class. It means that the perception of large class is subjective and can depend on a number of variables according to teachers. According to Todd (2006), the definition of large class from the point of view of teachers depends on three variables including the subject taught, the largest size they taught and the content being taught. In addition to other variables such as the age of learners, their motivation and the room where lessons are taught. Therefore, it is argued that teachers have various perceptions of large classes. Nevertheless, in the current, we can assume that the ideal class size that is visible with peoples’ work is 25 students per class. Concerning on the teachers' responses for the second question, the research inferred that all teachers are familiar with teaching overcrowded classes in university. All the participants agree that the number of learners they teach is beyond the normal standard and is considered a large class. It also infers that teachers who...
