As I progress through this semester, I have begun to establish goals for myself to make the school year successful. By setting goals, I can turn a challenging semester into one that runs smoothly and feels less complicated. Although some goals have obstacles, I try my best to work hard and challenge myself. By challenging myself, I can conquer the goals I set. I have many goals, but some have more importance than others. My semester goals include making good grades, making new friends, and getting involved in extracurricular activities. My main goal this semester is to make good grades. Grades are definitely the most important factor in my life at school. I strive to do my best to retain as much information as possible. Grades determine many things, such as an average for a class or whether one can get into a certain college. Making good grades challenges me because some classes are more difficult than others. For example, I struggle with English and pre-calculus more than anything. I have to write many essays for English; therefore, I try to work on my writing skills so that I …show more content…
Making new friends is a large focus for myself. Sometimes, new students move to my school or I am put in classes with students that I do not know. This creates opportunities for new friendships and creates a positive influence on myself and others. I can join a new club and become friends with the students in that club. If a student is sitting alone at lunch, I invite her to come sit at my table. This makes me feel good about myself and helps to build new friendships. I enjoy making new friends because I like to get to know other people and learn their stories. People come from many different walks of life, and I like to get to know each and every person to broaden my worldview. Making new friends is a big goal for me because I like to learn about other people and have a diverse group of

My Writing Reflection

...Throughout this past semester, I have learned more about writing. This has brought on a whole new style in my writing. The beginning of this semester was not ideal, how assignments were written on the papers were confusing. My first assignment in this class was not my best grade and definitely showed my confusion. Without a doubt, that continued to occur in almost every assignment. However, the essays that truly contributed to my newer depth in writing were the Three-Source Synthesis Essay, Research Paper, and this final essay. To begin, I would like to say, the synthesis essay was one of the hardest essays I have ever written. Finding the comparisons between three similar yet completely different articles was not easy. I had spent around 70 hours on this particular essay and even turning it in was nerve wrecking. Yet, this paper helped me improve my writing style greatly by pushing me to actually complete the essay. I had to learn how to find sources using the libraries website. To be truthful, using the libraries website was the most difficult part of finding reliable sources. The second essay that really pushed me was the research paper. I found plenty of sources but had the hardest time arranging them into essay formatting. Another difficult part of this essay that had helped influence my writing style was finding the...

...school, so I have not had to write many papers since then. In these previous English classes, most of the writing has been research papers. Comparing this project to previous projects in other English classes, I have had much more flexibility in the topic to write about and I feel that in this class, the project topic is much more applicable to me and my interests, being that it was about my future career. Previously, I did not have much knowledge on different citation systems, how to correctly cite, and for example,...

Mega Simulation Reflection

...Collegiality has proven to be a key aspect of nursing as well. I experienced this through the mega simulation that I was able to participate in this semester which focused on interprofessional education. This simulation combined nursing students with students in areas such as occupational therapy, athletic training, social work, and health administration. By working together as a team throughout this simulation, we were able to implement interventions related to the case of a young, pre-diabetic college student in order to provide her with optimal healthcare. A few of the key interventions that took place were assessments performed by the nursing students within our scope of practice, creation of a care plan and healthcare goals, involvement from social work students to assist the patient in obtaining a...

...teaching/learning consisting of reflective as well as creative engagement in exercises, projects and hands on experiences. The teaching-learning of the programme would be organized through lectures, group discussions, experiential exercises, group projects, presentations, workshops and seminars. Students would be encouraged to connect to real life issues and participate in the programs and practices in the different social context. To this end practicum is incorporated as an important component in most of the papers with hands on training in the use of various research methods such as: laboratory experiments, field experiments, observation, testing, survey, interview, case study. The programme has three components i.e. Discipline 1(DC1), Discipline 2 (DC2) and Application courses (AC). While in DC 1 practicum is a key component, AC follows a modular pattern where hands on training will be provided for developing psychological skills and their applications. Every semester, teaching will be spread over 16 weeks, including 2 weeks for review. Teaching of DC 1 and...

Alma College Student Analysis

...My first year at Alma College has been an eye-opening experience. I have learned a lot academically, about myself, and about life in general. As I progressed though the year my viewpoints had changed. I had many new experiences that broadened my horizon. My classes opened me up to knowledge I could apply to my life, that I found interesting, and benefitted me. I learned a lot about myself, including what I want out of my college experience, and what my passion is. Despite the numerous papers, multitudes of exams, tremendous amount of course work, and athletics I believe I have done well. One of the many demanding classes this semester was English 101. In this rigorous course, students were asked to gain rhetorical knowledge, engage in critical writing, perform research writing, and improve their style and grammar. These goals are closely related to those of the WPA Outcomes published by the Council of Writing Program Administrators. The WPA...

Conducting Reasearch

...As I attend English 104 this semester I plan on learning many new things. The main thing that I expect to learn and improve is how to research more efficiently. According to the course goals explained on the syllabus, I will also learn to create and complete research projects by generating a research question, engaging in critical reading, developing an argument with evidence collected from both primary and secondary research, and also how to site my sources. I believe that with better research techniques I will be able to communicate what I have learned into writing more easily as well as make my essays more knowledgeable. One of my challenges I will face in English 104 will be getting motivated to write the actual essays. I have never really liked writing that much and I think that if I am going to become a successful business major I will have to get better at translating my thoughts onto paper. Another challenge I may face this semester is procrastination. No matter what I am doing I always find a way to procrastinate, especially in college. My goal this semester is to be a better student and stay on top of my schoolwork. The way my schedule is set up right now I know I will have a lot of busy work and I will just have to dedicate myself to my studies. Overall I think that English 104 will be a great class and I am looking forward to this semester. One of the most recent incidents where I had to conduct research was just the other day. As a Christmas present I was supposed...

Initial Reflection Eng 202

...students that walk into class on the first day trying to figure out what the least possible amount of work in their course can be, and still be able to slide by with a passing grade. My question to this is—why? As a student we all should be committed to doing the best that we possibly can. This is about the only negative feeling that I have when in any class on a regular basis. I believe that I need to improve in all areas of my writing, there is always room for improvement. Improvement in sentence structure specifically would be something I need to work on. Additionally, I am excited to learn how to write research papers by the end of the semester. This is something that I have not done since the eighth grade, and I do not remember much about it. In my past college English classes, 101 and 121, we mostly participated in short readings and then a paper to follow the reading. This was very annoying, doing the same thing every class. However, I did enjoy the discussion portions of these classes; seeing the viewpoints from many different people was very thought provoking at times. I had the same professor for both of these classes, she was excellent and fun, but I did not enjoy that her viewpoints were extremely feministic and I found this very annoying. I felt as though she was very condescending on certain topics because of this. But overall, I have had a great experience with the English courses here at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and am hoping that it...
