...reviewing my lecture notes along with studying for my exams. The first focus that is important for me to keep consistent is my time management skills. Before I did not have a set strategy for how I am going to execute this so I just went with the flow as the day passed. This was a not beneficial for me because for anything that happened unexpected, I was not prepared with a backup plan to get caught up. I would instead wait until later on during the week to catch up on what I missed so I decided to make an schedule/planner. In the morning I go to the gym before lectures that way I have energy to go about my day. In between lectures, I use to walk back to residence to take a nap, but now I stay on campus and spend time in open seminar rooms where I catch up on my readings. When the day finishes, I double check to make sure I have my readings finished before next day’s lecture and if I do, I allow myself to hang out with my friends by going to the gym at night or watching television. Overall, I think I’m doing a decent job of making this an everyday habit. The only criticism I have for myself in regards to time management is making sure I check my email everyday since I learned my lesson for missing assignments for the STEP program. Another focus I am keeping consistent is my attendance. Last term I use to miss some morning classes due to sleeping in, but with the planner I have made for myself that is no longer a problem since I’m a the gym every morning before...

...August 25, 2015 To: Kaci Bray From: Joseph Kolega Subject: Orientation – Freshman Point of view Hello, I am a freshman at KU this semester. Before this, however, I went through an admissions process along with my orientation to follow. For the most part my transition from high school student to college student was nearly seamless. Looking back at the entire process, there are a few air bubbles I think if smoothed out could benefit not only the incoming freshman, but the university as a whole. Seminars? I will admit I’m not fully adept in courses at KU just yet, nor will I ever be. One thing that irked me orientation day was the hour long lecture on how critical a seminar class will be to our KU core. Now I understand this is a huge thing in liberal education, but gearing everyone for an hour to take one course they will never use isn’t justified when there are 100 other courses I could choose that weren’t as heavily endorsed. The school biased common book seminars, and I almost felt as though they were sticking their hand in my education, to be dramatic. Account Issues Once it was time to log in and finally enroll into our courses, I hit a road block when I found out we were supposed to have our KU ID and password already memorized and ready to go. Being told to walk all the way up to a different hall to reset my account was troubling and ultimately put me behind in line to pick ideal class times. I take partial accountability for my lack of knowledge on my own account...

...Destinee Thomas January 31, 2011 CJUS Seminar Week #1 The book, “Race, Crime and the Law”, by Randall Kennedy to me is boring, long and most parts are pointless. In chapter one, he discusses the four camps of race, which were: 1. Aims and beliefs, 2. American Politics, 3. All types of racial discrimination, and 4. People dedicated specifically for blacks. I can say that the reading about all of these camps were boring, but hard to read. I say boring, because it wasn’t interesting to me, and hard to read, because nothing said by Kennedy gives a clear understanding. For example: “The first four camps to which I address myself has made the control of street crime primarily through punitive measures a high priority on its political agenda. Demanding the attention be paid to the misery inflicted by crime, devotees of this camp have insistently raises=d the banner of “law and order” “(Randall Kennedy, Pg.3). However, the fourth camp stood out to me very well. It stated “No matter what the actual facts were in the Tawana Brawley case in a society which believes a black women cannot be rapped, because of her ‘nature, ‘it is impossible to sort out the truth or the lie of her story” (Kennedy, Pg.8). Kennedy talked all about how blacks are/ were viewed. This stood out to me, because he basically said that many people do not believe African American’s stories; whether they are true or false. Many believe that blacks lie about rape and race, and they pin it on others of different...

...A.Sri Dithya ChemE5870: Energy Seminar I Net id:sa929 The speaker, Lars Angenent gave us a brief detail about biotechnology with microbiomes for biochemical production, including fuels from biomass. In the seminar the speaker discussed about environmental biotechnology like the anaerobic digestion,Syngas fermentation and microbial electrochemistry. The speaker was successful in keeping the audience involved. The presentation started with brief explanation of environmental biotechnology wherein various processes like anaerobic digestion were explained.Anaerobic digestion is a series of biological processes in which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen. Other few processes which were discussed in the presentation include microbial electrochemistry which is the study and application of interactions between living microbial cells and electrodes,Syngas fermentation where a mixture of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide known as syngas is used as carbon and energy sources and then converted into fuel and chemical by microorganisms.Main takeaway from these processes would be that open culture, that is ,reactor microbiomes can produce biochemicals at high selectivities and rates(besides methane). One of the applications of this process is biorefinery platforms which involves hydrolysis and intermediate steps.Few of the examples being the sugar platform, syngas platform and carboxylate platform which involves primary and secondary...

...Jesus: Advocating Community Some would say God, or the author of Genesis, got it right: "It is not good for man to be alone." For as long as there have been humans, there have been communities. We are communal beings. From the first small tribes to the modern day mega cities, communities have evolved just as much as the human species. There are many ways that one can identify with a community. Human beings as well as many other species, especially primates, need these groupings as much as most social animals. Watch as every Sunday thousands sit distant from their closest sports field, straining to see the players, although they can far more easily watch the game at home in the comfort of their living rooms. Yet, in modern times, the community seems to be falling apart. They are not as strong as they once were. It is time we look back to the social climate that forged one of the most influential revolutionaries of all time. The historical Jesus of Nazareth. As John Crossan said “If the supreme value for the twentieth-century American imagination is individualism , based on economics and property, that for the first-century Mediterranean imagination can be called, to the contrary, groupism.” Our society has experienced major social shifts that would be unimaginable to a small Jewish town in ancient Palestine. Individuals no longer realize they need to rely on others in the way they once did. Modern technology has pushed us farther and farther into our own homes and away...

...Conclusion………………………………………………………………………………………...6 References…...……………………………………………………………………………………7 JESUS 3 Abstract This paper will provide the readers with basic information concerning the history of Jesus, his character, purpose and plan. This paper is not written to sway anyone form any other belief system that they may have. It is only to give information in regards to whom He was and is. This will be done by answering four questions: What is His history, character, purpose and plan? As a result, the answering of following questions will leave the reader more informed about what he/she may not have known regarding the man known as—Jesus. JESUS 4 Jesus History, Character, Purpose, and Plan Jesus has gone down in history as one of the most influential people who has ever walked the earth, and because of whom He claimed to be, churches, movements, and even religions have become established all over the world. All for the love of this one man, people have even confronted the Grimm Reaper himself and have openly accepted his invitation to the grave. Unambiguously, this paper will address key issues about Jesus, which caused radical movements worldwide. It will give light to possible questions the reader may have, while stating facts about the person of Jesus. This paper presents specific...

...Matthew 6:33 Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and All these things shall be added unto you, All these things: " Needs of Life and Not wants What was spoke in previous verses What is First: Priority: Jesus wants the first moments of everyday. Jesus wants the first day of every week. Jesus wants the first part of every paycheck. He wants to be first. God sought us first. The very act of creation is one of pursuit – He created us so that we could know Him. And through Jesus He has sought to restore us to Himself. He has given us an invitation to come to know Him. Jesus told His disciples to ask, seek, and knock; in doing so they would receive God's good provision (Matthew 7:7). Jesus even prayed for future believers that they would be with Him (John 17:20-26). He promised to continue to make Himself known to us. It is clear that God desires relationship with us. He has given us a taste of who He (Psalm 34:8); and we are invited to continue to seek Him to more deeply understand His goodness. Now everything rises and falls right here. If your priorities are not in order, your life will not be in order. If your priorities are not right, you won't be right. You don't have to pray about what your number one priority in life ought to be. You don't have to think about it. You don't have to discuss it. You don't have to look for it. You just have to do it. Because Jesus has already told us what our first priority ought to be, "seek ye first the kingdom of God...

...Seminar Two: Short Paper B Macland Baker College Introduction: The Problem We are given two problems for ethical consideration. The problems are similar in some respects, but different in one primary detail. The problems are called The Trolley Problem 1 and The Trolley Problem 2. Both problems have a runaway trolley that will kill five people on the track ahead if it continues on its course uninterrupted. The first problem has a switch that will turn the trolley off the track with the five people on it and turn it onto a track where there is one person on it. By hitting the switch you will save the five people, but the trolley will kill the one person. Do you hit the switch to save the five, or let the trolley go and save the one? I would hit the switch and save the five. I felt that if I was put in the position of having to choose to save one or save five, I would choose to save five. To not act at all, to me, is still acting because your inaction still kills one person. It is better to kill five people over killing one person? Definitely not. Although I don’t advocate that killing one person is justified. My choice is simply made because I was given the option of saving one or saving five. My option was not killing one or killing five. Mentally, this changes the scenario. It makes me feel less personally responsible for the deaths. In the second problem there is no switch. The problem is made more personal by the presence of an individual. You are standing on a bridge...

Since joining the EU in 2004, the country’s ambitions have been marked by the desire to fully catch up with the core of the EU in terms of economic development and living standards (Gross Domestic Product per capita currently stands at only 67% of the EU average) and to become one of the key participants in European debates. Domestic demand increased by 3 percent and remained the main growth driver. Private consumption continued to benefit from higher real disposable incomes as a result of improved labor market conditions, relatively strong credit growth to households, and a boost from persistent consumer price declines. Investment was supported by solid corporate profits, growing confidence, record low interest rates, and final disbursements from the European Union’s previous financial perspective (budget)...

...Socratic seminars are a learning tool to help not only students but professionals and their work habits and learning styles. The 3 key points to a well rounded socratic seminar are speaking, listening, and ideas, but what takes an incomplete idea and transforms it into an above average seminar? Speaking is one of the most important keys in keeping a good conversation going, also making a slower conversation moving to keep your audience engaged. An exemplary socratic seminar would include contributing to the discussion with ideas and references, unlike an incomplete debate which would show no evidence, knowledge or interest of the topic. To get an above average grade communication and being able to add information to any added idea is crucial....

...Seminar Report Security Issues in MANETs Abhishek Seth 04329001 November12 ,2004 Abstract problems of secuirity in MANETs. Further sections deals with some of the solutions to these problems. Finally Section 10 concludes this article. Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) has become an exciting and important technology in recent years because of the rapid proliferation of wireless devices. A mobile adhoc network consists of mobile nodes that can move freely in an open environment. Communicating nodes in a Mobile Adhoc Network usually seek the help of other intermediate nodes to establish communication channels. In such an environment, malicious intermediate nodes can be a threat to the security of conversation between mobile nodes. The security experience from the Wired Network world is of little use in Wireless Mobile Ad hoc networks, due to some basic differences between the two Networks. Therefore, some novel solutions are required to make Mobile Adhoc Network secure. 1 2 2.1 Mobile Adhoc Networks Introduction Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) is a collection of independent mobile nodes that can communicate to each other via radio waves. The mobile nodes that are in radio range of each other can directly communicate, whereas others needs the aid of intermediate nodes to route their packets. These networks are fully distributed, and can work at any place without the help of any infrastructure. This property makes these networks highly flexible and...
