Did you ever wonder what changed and stayed the same during your high school career? There are terms such as senioritis that try to explain a change in your mentality throughout high school. Many people also find their physical changes extreme. Some people might come in four foot something, but they may leave six foot three benching 275. In high school, many things change and stay the same such as your mentality towards work and your physical body.
First, freshmen year is scary because you don't know what to expect, and you don't know how to act. I always thought the courses were going to be so hard and difficult, so I studied and made sure I was prepared every day. I also never did anything at home until I hit freshmen year because time was always given to us in abundance in middle school. This realization hits you early in high school because all the teachers warned you and tried to scare you. I also didn't know how to manage my time and did simple research and citing by myself. In conclusion, freshmen come into high school expecting the worst, so they always try to go an extra step during academics to be safe. …show more content…
We know what teachers are hard and the teachers who are real easy to pass. Since we have been going to high school for four years, seniors are the highest ranking. We know what to expect in your classes, so they don't stress over anything because we have lived through it all. It isn't that we try less during senior year than freshmen, but we manage our time better for the most efficient and simplest way. This can't be done by the freshmen because they do not have the knowledge and experience of the seniors. Being able to do quality work quick and fast gave birth to the term

Senior Year Research Paper

...Our story began four years ago on an ordinary September day. All of us were scared, excited, and nervous for what Schalick was going to offer us. As young “fresh meat”, we didn’t know what to expect, going off of those movies where high school is all fun and games. Some of us expected that we would get lost, or shoved in a locker. Instead, we’ve made new friends, and were able to familiarize ourselves with what would be our second home for the next four years. We were able to experience what every Schalick student enjoys about high school: the football games, the pep rallies, homecoming, and Green and Gold. If our freshman year was this good, what could the rest of high school hold for us? When sophomore year came by, we were able to feel more comfortable with our surroundings and we knew what to expect. New classes meant new experiences. Driver’s Ed is something all of us had waited for. Receiving your blue card symbolized getting one step closer to adulthood and freedom. And who could forget about the famous leaf project, that has impacted our lives...

Senior Year Research Paper

...Senior year was unexpected and full of surprises. Many things happened that I never would’ve thought to see myself doing. I won first place at the local Esthetics contest, third place at regionals, and third place at state. I was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society, I got accepted into the Tri-RIvers School of Nursing, and I even started the process of opening a business. It has definitely been a year to remember, and easily the best year in all of my years of schooling. I am so glad I made the decision to enroll at Tri-Rivers. Going in to Tri-Rivers, all I set for myself was to accomplish earning my Esthetics license, and I achieved exactly that and more. I became certified in CPR and first-aid, and had good grades in all of...

Senior Year Research Paper

...A year that is there to make memories that will last a lifetime, to have an emotional roller coaster about leaving the people you have grown up with, and the numerous applications to fill out could be a definition for senior year. Every year leading up to senior year is taken as a leadway, but the dreaded year comes when students, who still have to raise their hand to go to bathroom, must make decisions about their future. Senior year is a reminder that not everything works out as planned and things have no choice but to change. Through the jumbled up mess of senior year students need to take time to relax and be a kid for the last time before they enter the real world as adults. The emotions will start out as a high going into the last first...

Literacy Narrative: Biomedical Engineering Class

...a doctor. “What kind of doctor” was the question I asked myself? I was about to start my senior year of high school, but still asked myself the same question. However, senior year in my Biomedical Engineering class I was told each week I had to research an article that was somehow related to the class. I had to read the research/article thoroughly, write a three to four page research paper and present my findings in front of the class. At first I wasn’t so eager about the assignment, because not only I hate writing but also reading. However by doing these research papers helped me shape my career aspiration and also helped prepare me for college level research papers. The first article I read that grabbed my attention was “Thoughts Control Robotic Hands”. The article talked about how a group of researchers at the University of Pittsburgh have implanted an array of electrodes into the motor cortex of a patient’s brain enabling...

...Oracle: The Research Journal of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Vol. 4, Iss. 2, September 2009 THE EFFECTS OF FRATERNITY/SORORITY MEMBERSHIP ON COLLEGE EXPERIENCES AND OUTCOMES: A PORTRAIT OF COMPLEXITY Ashley M. Asel, Tricia A. Seifert, and Ernest T. Pascarella This study estimated the effects of fraternity/sorority membership on a wide range of college experiences and outcomes for first-year and senior college students at a large, public, Midwestern university. The findings suggest a complex portrait of the relationships between affiliation, engagement, and learning outcomes. Fraternity/sorority membership appeared to facilitate social involvement during college but may have limited the diversity of relationships. It was associated with higher levels of community service, but also increased the odds of excessive alcohol use. In the presence of controls for important, confounding influences, being a fraternity/sorority member had little consistent influence on grades or perceived impact of college. There was little support for gender differences in the impact of affiliation. Finally, implications for student affairs professionals in their work with undergraduate fraternity/sorority leaders and members were considered. Most institutions of higher education hold student learning and success as parts of their primary missions (Kuh, Kinzie, Schuh, Whitt, & Associates, 2005; Kuh, Schuh, Whitt, & Associates, 1991).
