The twin towers going down in flames does not sound like a beautiful sight, and they was not. September 11, 2001, was caused by terrorism, which was started to increase in the 1960s but has occurred throughout history. Terrorisms acts of violence on an opposing country to scare the country and is the usually targeted against innocent victims and symbolic locations. Not just the falling of the twin towers but multiple things happened on September 11. Osama ben Laden’s group, AlQaeda, hijacked four planes. One was crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., another one of them crashed in Western Pennsylvania, and the other two crashed into the World Trade Center Complex in New York City. The southwest side of the Pentagon was damaged along with the twin towers destroyed a total of about 3,000 lives were taken that day which does not include the 266 lives of people on the airplanes. Many firefighters risked and lost their lives helping rescue people. America has been affected dramatically by this terrorist attack. Not only did it cost the government a lot of money for the rebuilding of buildings but also lives of people we love. We Americans mourned deeply and still do when that time of the year comes around. More people are scared to go on airplanes or into large cities now because of the fear a tragedy like this may happen again which most of us dread. Out of all the sorrow and negative aspects of September eleventh, September had a few benefits to it. We proved to ourselves and other nations our country is strong and will stick together in times of disaster. That day also made many people be more appreciative and thankful for their own and family’s lives. September eleventh has helped me be thankful for such a great country I live

...Name Professor Course Date The Beast Below” episode 2 by Moffat The Beast below is perceived as the second episode of the series concerning a British science narrative called “Doctor who.” It is an incident complete with choices as well as the political implications (“Odoni”). Consequently, this paper will consider Moffat’s film, “The Beast Below” where the author uses the science fiction to explore the theme of technology and child development. The impact of science fiction with a child is used in the series through the Doctor, whose show was principally intended for the kids as well as for educational purposes. But over the period the science fiction as well as revulsion basics proposed by its time voyage origins took over the objectives that were extensively acknowledged. The shows educational association to the kids closely informs the presence of science fiction through the use of the “beast” also, one of the series feeble achievements. Starting with what emerges to be a town suspended in space garlanded with the unification of Jack flag as well as alternate strong “tall buildings” designed with the names of British towns. The school going kids in certain a small boy is explained about the outcomes of the latest assessment from a robot in place of an instructor. Thus, this was also to demonstrate the presence of technology to the children whereby the robots replaced the tutors in class. The use of technology through the robot makes the...

Eleventh Hour

...The Eleventh Hour The film documentary was most likely called the 11th hour to give emphasis to what would become of humanity in the near future. The latest possible moment – we all must work hand-in-hand to make this a favourable possibility for everyone. It is a challenge we would all face today, but in due time we may reap a great harvest for our fellow people if we persevere. In the field of business, the role of this documentary is to give those in the corporate sector as well as those who own small enterprises an in depth look to why corporate social responsibility is important. They are given the opportunity to look back at the past, present and strive for a future that can still be altered. As the film progresses, the issues on global warming, extinction of species, deforestation as well as the slowly disappearing ocean habitats is depicted giving the viewer the chance to think about what he/she ought to do now. These concerns are actually our country’s own, too. Deforestation as a result of illegal logging had played its part in making matters worse for the past few years – floods had devastated lives, no trees to stop it in its tracks. The drought the country is experiencing – a sign of global warming. Polluted bodies of water had driven out the freshness of the fish as well as other aquatic creatures. Even though it has its share of endangered species, the Philippines however, does not have concerns on the extinction of any at the moment. This is most likely because...

Love

...loves, a mother's love. It begins with your birth, and ends with her death. It will follow you through childhood, youth, and manhood, from the cradle to the grave--if not in reality, in memory; it will stimulate you to every noble and heroic action you may contemplate or do, and deter you from many an evil one. The memory of it alone will sweeten many a cup of sorrow in after years, lighten many an hour of darkness, and the soft music of her voice in gentle accents you will oft hear years after she, perhaps, is no more. You may lose everything in this world, and a mother's love will alone stick by you; you may go down, down to the lowest depths of degradation, be steeped in crime and sin, an outcast from your fellow beings, when, at the eleventh hour, the memory of your mother and her undying love may come like a golden cloud, and with all its early strength and warmth, may be the means of wresting you from the very jaws of hell. The blessing of having had a good and a kind mother is one blessing unequalled, I may say, by any other on earth, and your heart will oft turn with the tenderest love to the years when you knew it, to the scenes where you felt it, long, long after her sweet and gentle voice is hushed in the cold grave. Boys and girls, youths and maidens, when about to sin, remember your mother, and break not her fond...

Thomson Ship Collection Essay

...The Thomson Ship Collection collects historic ships range from Napoleonic era to the 19th century, and are mostly created from natural material, such as wood and bone. The “Double watch stand with British or French Two- decker 74 Gun Warship” is one of the private ship models collected by Ken R. Thomson. It was created in the 18th century, from 1795-1815 by French sailors, and it is now displayed in the basement of AGO within the vast range of ship models collection. Like any other models in the Thomson Collection, this unique collection is made out of bone, wood, paper, ink, watercolour, brass, straw, and hand- tinted prints. The model is consisted of two parts, the ivory stand and a diminutive ship model. This is a highly decorative piece of work, the stand is inlaid with painted gold, mostly carved in bone. One interesting thing to be noticed is that, the linings of the drawers still remain in their original colours, since the drawers of the stand did not have the chance to make contact with air. Looking at the focal point of this watch stand, which would be the small scale ship model mounted inside the case. It is a British and French origin, two-decker gun warship. Similar to all the ships models in The Thomson Collection, this is a rather complex and petite model. The remarkable exquisite craftsmanship and the historical stories behind each ship models are why people are so fascinated about this series of collection. AGO being an institute that has long and colorful history...

What Was I Doing on Sept. 11 2001

...Jozelle Fleming RHT 101 026 Monday October 1, 2012 What was I doing on September 11, 2001? It was like any other morning. I woke up at around 8:00 am to use the bathroom as I normally do at around the same time every day, because being 8 ½ months pregnant can really put a strain on a person’s bladder. So as I was saying I went to the bathroom and lay back down and turned on the T.V. It really wasn’t much on so I started flipping through the channels and I stopped on the news channel. Now it was like around 8:50 am and what I saw on the screen just looked like any regular accident. It was lots of smoke and fire. I never thought this was a evil plan put together by some very evil people. (I would like to say what I really believe, but that would be another story) So as I continued watching the live footage, you see people running and people trying to help and others just watching wondering what the hell was going on. At about 9 o’clock you see another plane fly low and BOOM!! It hit the second tower. Now as I’m watching this I’m screaming and yelling at the T.V. screen like “WATCH OUT”!, Like they could hear me or something. Then it hit me at that exact moment all I could think was “O My God”, we are under attack. I could remember at that moment my stomach started hurting and I started feeling very scared. And all I could ask myself is “Do I really want to have my baby in this crazy world”? So of course now this terrible event that was taking place was now broadcasting...

...On September 12, 1979, Hampton Machine Tool Company (HMTC) requested from St. Louis National Bank a renewal to their loan of $1,000,000 due to be repaid on September 30, 1979 and also to be given an additional loan of $350,000 for new equipment purchases in October 1979. Both loans were to be repaid on December 31, 1979. Hampton M.T. Company wrote a letter to the St. Louis National Bank stating the reasons for the extension of the loan and the need of the additional loan, and giving the current and the predicted future financial position of the company. In order to decide whether to approve the loan extension and the additional new loan, it is most wise to examine the financial position of the company for the following months to come and calculate the forecasted Income Statement and Cash Flow Analysis to find out if the company will have the required cash flows to repay their loan and interest on time. It is important, however, to first examine why HMTC was unable to repay its initial loan. Hampton Machine Tool Company was unable to repay its loan on time due to several factors. One of such factors is the fact that the stock repurchase, for which the loan was initially requested, was a major cash disbursement of $3 million. In the period between November 1978 and August 1979, stock repurchase represented 58% of total expenditures for that period, while inventory purchases represented 42% of total expenditures. They also had a difficult...
