Reading Serial Killers, The Method and Madness of Monsters by Peter Vronsky, was much more interesting than the last book we read. Through the end, it was very compelling and I was very interested throughout it. The last five chapters were much more pleasant because they went into detail and allowed me to understand the concept of serial killers and how they come to be one. What we learned this week with Dr. McCoy coincided with what we were reading about in the book. Lecture this week was great as always. Dr. McCoy really involves you and makes it as easy to understand as possible. Chapter six, “Serial Killers as Children,” was about some factors to influence children to become serial killers. One piece I found interesting was the part about…show more content… The chapter looks at various factors that might compel the serial killer to commit their first murder and continue with these antics. This piece had many different parts of why serial killers killed and what influenced them. One part that got me interested was when the murderers reminisced on their first murders. Henry Lee Lucas, Ted Bundy, Bobby Joe Long, David Berkowitz, David Gore and Albert DeSalvo all recalled their first murders and how they felt about them. I hated her from the time she picked me up, but I didn’t plan to murder her. I don’t even think I planned to rape her either…I couldn’t believe what I’d done the next morning. I was sick, and I knew I was in real trouble,’” (pages 287-288). After reading this part I was disturbed because he said he knew it was happening but could not control himself. Another person who I was disturbed by would be David Berkowitz, who said “‘you just felt very good after you did it. It just happens to be satisfying, to get the source of blood…I no longer had any sympathy whatsoever for anybody. It was very strange,’” (page 288). I just think it is senseless for these people to not have any sympathy for anyone they killed. It was just insane for those people to think nothing of them murdering someone for the
