...Methods of Evangelism Nathalie Graham Liberty University Online The Romans Road Summary of Method – The Romans Road is an “intellectual” plan using a collection of verses from the New Testament book of Romans to explain God’s gift of salvation. When these verses are arranged in order they offer a systematic presentation of the plan of salvation (What is Roman’s Road?) Through the presentation of these verses one learns that we are all sinners (Romans 3:10, 23), that the wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23), that Jesus paid for our sins on the cross (Romans5:8), that salvation comes through faith, by confessing with our mouths and believing in our hearts that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9,10), and the need to call on the Lord for salvation (Romans 10:13) (What Is Roman’s Road?). The sharing of these scriptures opens the door for one to accept salvation. Advantages of Using This Method – There are several advantages to using this method of evangelism. First, for those that are new to witnessing to others the Roman’s Road offers a solid Biblical plan to winning souls. This method is laid out so that even children and the newest Christian would be able to share Christ with others using the scriptures. Secondly, the plan exposes the non-believer to the scriptures. Thirdly, this method is effective in reaching those that accept that the Bible is the Word of God and are willing to accept its teachings. Disadvantages of Using This Method – The Romans Road method of evangelism...

...Methods of Evangelism Romans Road Summary of Method – According to the About Christianity website, “The Romans Road lays out the plan of salvation through a series of Bible verses from the book of Romans. When arranged in order, these verses form an easy, systematic way of explaining the message of salvation.” (1) The Romans Road is the plan of salvation that we often use in our church and with our youth. The verses that we use include: Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8 and 10:9-10 & 13. Advantages of Using This Method – All of the bible verses are pulled directly from scripture in Romans and give a clear view of the plan of salvation. It is also easy to follow and easy to lead. Lastly, it focuses on one book of the Bible instead of many which could potentially be overwhelming to seeking Christians. Disadvantages of Using This Method – Some seekers may question why a person leading someone to Christ is only using one book of the Bible. Using a different method would avoid that questioning of what someone is trying to “hide” in the rest of the book. Also if you are only teaching out of Romans and have only studied that book then someone asks you a theological question pertaining to something else in the Bible you may not know the answer. Servant Evangelism Summary of Method – Servant Evangelism is, “a simple, straightforward approach to sharing God’s love in simple, practical ways.” (3) Simply put it’s doing nice things for people out of the goodness of your heart. Literally...

...Methods of Evangelism PART ONE - Evangelistic Method #1 The first evangelistic method I chose to write about is the Romans road (Wheeler, 2000). The Romans road is a simple way of walking a person down a road to salvation. According to Wheeler (2000), this method uses verses in Romans to show a lost person why they need a savior. Romans 3:23 (New International Version) tells them that they are not alone in their sin; we have all sinned. Romans 6:23 tells us that the penalty for sin is death but God has given us a gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Then in Romans 5:8 we are told how much God loves us despite our sinful nature. We then use Romans 10:9, 13 to tell the unbeliever how s/he can become a child of Christ. Then we ask him/her if they would like to make that choice now, regardless of whether they asked Christ into their lives or not. The next passages are Romans 5:1; 8:1; 8:38-39. In these next passages of scripture we discuss exactly what the eternal implications of a choice to live for Christ mean. The advantage of the Romans road is that it is pretty cut and dry evangelism. If you have someone who is willing to sit and listen to what you have to say or even read with you, it would be awesome. This method in my opinion works well with people who have already been prepared. The disadvantage to this method is that it’s hard to just walk up to someone and start down the Romans road. You need someone who’s willing to have that conversation. If you wanted...

...Methods of Evangelism Anthony Waller Liberty University Online The Romans Road The Romans Road is an evangelistic “Intellectual” method that’s simple and direct in sharing the gospel; utilizing a systematic approach, that formalizes a plan; utilizing Bible verse that’s organized in an outline making it easy to teach those who is in need of salvation, why we need salvation, how God provides salvation, how man can respond to salvation, and the result of man’s response to salvation. Romans Road is a pathway that we can walk towards our salvation. The first path states that “as it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). “For all have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). But “God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). “That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God had raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9). For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). When we submit ourselves to God and He forgives us for our sins, or relationship with man ends; because were no longer who we use to be. We’ve been reborn as a new creature in Christ; a newly adopted child that’s righteous in the eyes of God (Romans 5:1, 8:1 and 38-39. [1] The advantage of this...

...Method #1: The Romans Road Part ONE – Evangelistic Method #1 – The Romans Road is an “Intellectual” Method of Evangelism. It’s a simple, direct way to spread the good news. Why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and the results of salvation are all explained in The Romans Road. This method is a “road” through the book of Romans. First, Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (KJV) Second, Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Third, Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Fourth, Roman 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” And Romans 10:13, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” The last step contains Romans 5:1; 8:1; 8:38-39, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (5:1), “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (8:1), “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (8:38-39) The Romans Road advantage is...

...Summary of Method This method is to use love, compassion, and service to reach people. We have to remember to always have a smile on our face and do this with a generous heart. Meaning that we want to the work of a servant, just as Jesus set an example by washing the disciple’s feet (John 13:1-17). Jesus wants to show that no one is above doing a servant’s work. I also see motivation of servant evangelism in Mathew 25. Jesus is telling his deciples to feed the hungry, give the homeless shelter and cloths, take care of the sick, and meet the essential needs of people, when doing this; it would be the same as if the disciples were meeting the needs of Jesus. Savant Evangelism is more about showing love thru the gospel rather than speaking the gospel. Advantages of Using This Method People tend to remember negative things about people or groups rather than to remember the positive things about the same people or groups. The advantage to Service Evangelism is that it can change the perception that people may have about Christians. Even though negative perception has been brought on to the Christian by themselves throughout time, but people unfairly put all Christians in a negative category. People do not easily remember that hospital, orphanages, and homeless shelters that were started by Christian organizations. Christians should be more active in the roll of showing that someone cares in the lost and dieing world. There is an old saying, “People do not...

...Methods of Evangelism Tim Fouse-Clark Liberty University Online The Romans Road Summary of the Method – According to Earley and Wheeler, “the Romans Road to Salvation is a way of explaining the good news of salvation using verses from the book of Romans (Wheeler). The way that my church explained it to me is that were 5 steps: 1. There is a problem: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:3, NIV). Explain that we are all sinners and that there are none except God that are righteous. 2. The problem comes with a price: “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom 6:23). Since we are sinners, we are deserving of punishment in hell. 3. Payment of the price was paid by Christ’s sacrifice: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8). As propitiation for our sin, Christ took it all on His shoulders and died for us. 4. The prayer that leads to salvation: “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:9, 13). You need to believe it in your heart and exclaim it with your mouth. 5. Salvation through Jesus leaves us justified: “Therefore, there is now no condemantion for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom 8:1). We have been made new, as if we have never sinned...

...Methods of Evangelism Tyler Blalock Liberty University Online The Romans Road Summary of Method – The Romans Road is a method of evangelism and is considered an intellectual method. It is a plan of salvation that utilizes various verses derived from the book of Romans. These verses are often memorized and used by evangelists to form a cohesive explanation of the need of salvation. Advantages of Using This Method – There are several advantages to the Romans Road method. One is that it is an easy way to explain and share the Gospel. These various verses, when put together, depict a clear and easy presentation. Another advantage is that it very much Biblically based. In explaining salvation, it is literally using Scripture in sharing the faith. Disadvantages of Using This Method – One disadvantage is the fact that all of the sources in this method are Scripture. While this is a great thing in reality, for a non-Christian who does not assume the Bible to be God’s word, it can come across as less credible from his/her perspective. The Romans Road method is a path to salvation and clearly uses Scripture as support and sources. This method has the potential of leading into a discussion on the credibility of the Bible, which can become off topic in leading someone to Christ. In other words, for a non-believer who wants to refute the word of God, it can potentially become a distraction from the discussion of salvation. Lifestyle Evangelism Summary of Method – Lifestyle...

...Methods of Evangelism Romans Road Method Summary of Method – The Romans road method of evangelism is a way of leading the lost to salvation using verses from the book of Romans out of the Word of God. It is a very powerful and effective way of explaining why we need salvation, how God has provided us the way to salvation, how we are to receive it, and what’s the outcome after receiving it. Advantages of Using This Method – One advantage to this method is that it’s simple to understand. The biggest advantage is that we’re using the Word of God and by doing so we’re getting supernatural power by the Holy Spirit to start working on the person or persons we’re talking to. We’re not the ones that “close” people into salvation, it’s the Holy Spirit that does the work after we’ve planted and watered the seeds. Disadvantages of Using This Method – When using this message it could be really easy for the people hearing this to not fully understand the meat and potatoes behind salvation. Too many times than I care to count I see believers caring more about the numbers of people led to salvation than the actual quality of it. If not done correctly people tend to think that just simply saying the words is enough when it’s not. In order for true salvation to take place one must confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and “truly” believe it in their hearts or else they’re buying a “knock off” version of salvation and being misled which could be eternally damaging. I don’t know about...

...Evangelistic Method #1 The Roman Road to Salvation is a very good method because it brings forth what God has in store for all men, women, and children. It shares to the unbeliever that” God loves you and has a plan for you!” Our sinfulness has separated man from God (Roman 3:23 & Romans 6:23). Even though we were sinful and the things man did displeased God, He still loved us, so He sent His Son to die for your sins. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus died for our sins, He was buried, and was raised on the third day “(1Corinthians 15:3-4). Then asked if you would like to receive God’s forgiveness, how wonderful it is to know that even though we were sinners God is given us a pardon through His mercy and grace. This simple yet complete method through its various bible scriptures clarifies to the unbeliever an almost step by step illustration of His sin, what was done to restore him through and Jesus dying for man sins, and most importantly God’s forgiveness. Evangelistic Method # 2 Servant Evangelism was something that Jesus Christ Himself taught and illustrated to the His disciples and Jesus Himself is a model of servant hood, in His selfless giving and His will to serve others. “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). We as His followers must continue to do good works and meet the needs of the less fortunate...

By his writings alone the reader could conclude that he was well educated, due to his large vocabulary, and being the person who wrote the most grammatically correct writings in all of the New Testament. Luke was a doctor, historian and perhaps the only scientist among any of the writers. Through his literary text he captured moments that were accounts of key events of the most important era in the history of the world. This was completed all while emphasizing Jesus’ love for those who felt as though they were forgotten. He was a devoted follower of Christ and his focus and passion was Jesus' innocents; therefore he defend and establish the absolute truth of the gospel of Christ. ...The Chinese church in North America is an anomaly. In the last twenty years, more than three hundred new churches were started. There are three hundred student Bible study groups in Canada and the United States, almost every one of them started by the students themselves. Very evidently God has caused the Chinese in North America to be very responsive to the gospel. The Chinese church is educated, affluent and filled with talent.1 As Two-Third World missions come into prominence in mission circles, the church in the West is looking to the Chinese church to "pick up the baton" and carry out the Great Commission across cultural barriers. Yet with all seven hundred congregations the Chinese church is reaching only five percent of the Chinese community with the gospel.2 She is a small minority. And although endowed with a rich tradition of spirituality and evangelistic zeal, she is weak in two crucial areas: doctrinal maturity 3 and church consciousness.4 She is a young church. Jesus calls the church to disciple the nations (Matthew 28:19-20). Jesus calls us to seek His Kingdom and righteousness in all that we do (Matthew 6:33). Paul tells us that if any human being is in Christ, everything – including his or her whole life -- is made new. The individual is new, or more precisely, there is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), a new world. This means that the Lordship of Christ includes His lordship over our work, our careers, our families, and our ambitions. We are to live as...

Contemporary studies in anthropology and sociology of religion speak of 'religions on the move', or the process of transmigration and transculturation, as it refers to dynamic, reciprocal, transitory and multidimensional creations in shaping a 'poly-contextual world'.
