Seth, also known as Set and Suetekh, was the Egyptian god of war, chaos and storms. His name is usually translated as "instigator of confusion" and "destroyer". Seth was associated with disorder, desert and drought. The Egyptians associated Seth with the planet Mercury and associated him with the color red. Egyptians reviled people with red skin and, sometimes, killed any animal with containing any red fur. Seth is one of the first five gods created by the union of Geb (earth) and Nut (sky). The Egyptians usually depicted Seth as a man with the head of a canine with a pointed snout, rectangular elongated ears and a thin human body with a long-forked tail.
