...Sharon M. Draper in the novel Tears of a Tiger, asserts about a powerful high school trilogy with the theme of blame, written towards young adults beginning to build into something more. I address the theme as guilt because the protagonist, Andy Jackson, has this strong emotion and he feels throughout the novel as he grieves for a lost loved one. Andy was not able to cope how most people do after losing something or someone they love, so the main question to be asked “how may the death of a friend affect the survivors; how do survivors or cope ?” . Reading this novel has had many emotional issues that had to do with dealing with emotions, so I believe the author's purpose was to demonstrate how it may feel to walk a mile in a person's shoes when they don't have the emotional help they need. I want to address the issue of how important it is to look out and care for someone who went or is going through something traumatic or heartbreaking. The death of a friend or loved one can result in depression and grief; survivors can cope in many ways, such as spending more time with loved ones and to talk more about what you truly feel....
