For example, when I have worked in other homes within the company, particularly solo homes, the young person residing there was quite shy in front of new adults within the home and would put barriers up and stay in her room. As a way of reaching out and introducing myself, I used the work mobile phone and communicated via text messages to interact with the new young person; eventually during the shift, the young person felt comfortable enough to come downstairs and conversate face to face.
