...1 Percent vs. General Public Upper class vs. the common people and the effects of the upper class interest to keep power; how well does the 1 percent of America represent my interest? I say it is a 50/50 relationship. They like money and power, and they, would do whatever it takes to keep it, so the decisions keep business as usual helps keep people employed but at the same time business as usual can mean the opposite. Money equals power, and I believe that, there (Americas 1 percent) interest to keep making money and to keep power they would do what’s required to keep our economy going witch mean job security for right now. Job security is something scares right now, and economy is not getting better. When the upper 1 percent of America that’s controls large businesses that employee a majority of our community decide to move to another country to save money that is when we (community) have conflicted interest with the upper 1 percent. Interest and conflict is something happening all too much now a day. America’s general public is not much different from the upper class when it comes to interest. The upper 1 percent wants to make money and so do the general public the only difference is that if the upper 1 percent decides to take their assets to another state let alone another country our general public will end -up with conflict. This is just one of the main reasons our economy is hurting, and our general public unemployment rate has gone up. It is a 50/50 relationship...

...Sieanna Fulmore Professor Biddle ENG 102 07 February 2014 Essay 1: Diversity Diversity is integral to excellence. We value and honor diverse experiences and perspectives, strive to create welcoming and respectful learning environments, and promote access, opportunity and justice for all. Maya's writings have a way of embracing people and successfully state her thoughts and emotions. "Pulse" is a call for hope and opportunity part of our history. Maya Angelou's poem ' On the Pulse of Morning' relates to diversity, change over time, and equality. When analyzing her poem, we came across stanzas that relate to these topics. Her poem has successfully portrayed a sense of diversity. Many lines in different stanzas are related to diversity. Stanza four and five, states, "The singing River, and the wise Rock. So say the Asian, the Hispanic, the Jew, the African, the Native American, the Sioux, the Catholic, the Muslim, the French , the Greek, the Irish, the Rabbi, the Sheik, the Gay, the Straight, the Preacher, the privileged, the Homeless, the Teacher. They hear. They all hear the speaking of the tree." They are united by nature, but different due to their culture. In stanza six a lot about diversity has been acknowledged. The people who once helped Maya, do not anymore. It also says that we arrived from the Indians. In the course of history, elements of society have changed. Examples through Maya's work are, "The dinosaur, who left dried tokens of their sojourn here... Is lost...

...According to the beneficiaries of 4P’s whom I interviewed, they are grateful with the program of the government. For every poor Filipino family, three of their children receive three hundred pesos (P300.00) each while their mother receives an amount of five hundred pesos (P500.00) every month. The amount received by the children is used to pay the fees in the school, used to buy notebooks, ball pen, paper, projects, and other school needs. On the other hand, the amount received by the parent is used to start a small business like a small sari-sari store or buying and selling of vegetables and a partial amount of the money received from the program is used to buy for their personal needs. On the contrary, other parents who are beneficiaries of this program are using the amount of money in sustaining their vices like drinking, smoking, and gambling. Parents who are proven guilty of the said act is penalized by a warning for their first offense and disqualifying them for their second offense. Once the child reaches fifteen years of age, the support from the government will automatically cease. The support from the government is also transferrable to his or her younger sister or brother once the child reaches the said age. The support to the parent will also automatically cease once all of their children reaches the age of fifteen. Conclusion: It is true that the support from the government to poor Filipino families is very visible and is a great help. However, is this support...

Walmart should not be ridiculed for the amount of money they pay their associates. To get a job at Walmart you must be 16. You do not need a high school diploma. It is an entry-level job. My advice for such associates is go back to school and get a proper job to support your family. Working a dead end job with “a raise of $1.80 a year” is not going to get you places. They also...

...Back to shcool For many families, the crisp scent of the fall air is a signal that it is time to start preparing for going back to school. Shopping for new pencils, backpacks and notebooks is always an exciting time for both parents and children alike. Because children have an interest in the things that they are purchasing for school, this is also a great time to discuss how to budget a back to school allowance. When planning for how students will be spending their back to school funds, there are a few key areas that families will want to keep in mind. 1. Back to School Lunches School lunches can vary in both their price and their appeal according to different school systems. Parents will need to consider whether their child will be taking their lunch on some days or buying a lunch from the cafeteria during the week. Another aspect of school lunches for families to discuss is if a student will also be buying breakfast as this can substantially increase a back to school budget. If the student will be allowed to purchase extras such as dessert, then this will also need to be planned out beforehand. Families will also want to plan for any extra snacks or meals that a student might wish to have for when they get home after school. Depending upon the school, parents can decide upon the best way to handle this portion of a student’s back to school allowance for kids. Some schools arrange for an account to be set up so that parents can prepay while others simply accept cash. How this...

...Hazing Hazing is a highly dangerous activity that in some cases has resulted in death. Hazing involves various activities or rituals which are expected of someone desiring to join a group. Hazing differs from bullying in that bullying attempts to isolate someone from a group. Hazing activities or rituals are designed to be degrading and dehumanizing and can induce psychological, emotional or physical harm, regardless of a person's willingness to participate (Hazing Defined). Hazing is an extremely dangerous form of harassment and intimidation. Hazing is done to an individual as a way of initiating a person into a group or organization. Since 1965, there have been over one hundred people who have been killed or died in the United States due to hazing activities on college campuses in connection with fraternities and sororities alone (Hazing.hanknuwer.com). The actual number of fatalities due to hazing is probably much higher when other groups and organizations such as social groups, high schools, sports teams, military units, the work place and gangs, amongst others, are considered as well. Currently, there is no official U.S. government organization that officially tracks the number of fatalities due to hazing (Hazing.hankunwer.com). Further, there are forty four states that have laws against hazing, but they are often not enforced. The majority of hazing deaths occur because the activity or ritual is excessive and participants become over zealous. Further, a participant's...

...if Warren County and Bowling Green consolidate, creating Bowling Green Metropolitan Public Schools, funding would not be a concern. Government funders often find unified areas a more attractive investment. Ken Howard said, “When you’re unified as to your priorities, you have a much better chance of getting funded. When you’re not unified, or when there are various factions or two or three different priorities for a particular community, then the tendency in Frankfort and Washington is, ‘Until they get their act together, they’re not going to get all that funding.’” (Kocher, 2011). If we stopped disputing with each other, we could get the funding we need, without having to fight for it. A question that will be raised in conjunction with shcools is traffic. Will heavier traffic cause my children to be late to school? In short, no, it will not. The traffic problem can easily be solved with new transportation methods. Once Bowling Green and Warren County become a metropolis, people will be drawn here. A population increase will drive the need to reduce pollution and traffic. Public transportation is the ideal solution and may include utilization of busses, taxis, and even bicycle rentals. In Bowling Green, there are a few small modes of public transportation available. There are two taxi services, Arrive Alive and Komfort Kabs, but they are not widely advertised. There is also the GO bus, but it is confined to the city limits of Bowling Green and does not operate throughout Warren...

Habit Is Memory 20 There is no such thing as a poor memory, only a trained or untrained one. There is no limit to the capacity of the memory. Test Your Memory 24 If you can remember any one thing by association, you can do it with anything else. A series of tests for you to take now to indicate how limited your untrained memory is. Interest in Memory 32 The first step is to be interested in remembering names, faces, dates, figures, facts—anything, and that you have confidence in your ability to retrain them.
