“When you stand and share your story in an empowering way; your story will heal you and your story will heal somebody else”-Iyanla Vanzni. Iyanla Vanzni is a sexual assault survivor and she used this quote while speaking to a group of teen girls. She told them how she was at her lowest point and wanted to die but she didn’t give up and continued to push and make it another day and she stood up and told her story to others and wants to encourage all the other teen girls to do the same. When telling people your pain you heal yourself but also heal the other person. Some people share common stories and by standing up and sharing your story will help them share their story.…show more content… Every year there are more and more victims that doesn’t speak up and that should stop. Sexual assault has messed up a lot of teen girl’s lives and has caused them to have many health and physical problems. Being sexual assaulted can lead to many things, and the most common is PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). What is sexual assault you may be wondering? Well sexual assault is really any unwanted type of sexual contact (Teen Sexual Assault). Sexual Assault isn’t always rape and all rape isn’t an attack. Most people don’t even know this but touching is a form of sexual assault. Whenever a person doesn’t give someone permission to do any sexual contact to them that is a form of sexual assault. Did you know that every 107 seconds another teen girl is sexual assaulted. That means that there are about 293,000 sexual assault case that are reported every year (“Statistics.") These are high number and should be lowered. About 13% of sexual assault victims tried to comet suicide. It is also a proven fact that 4/5 (80%) of sexual assaults are done by someone that the victims know. Life after sexual assault is very hard for both the predator and victim.
