Should Masconomet get more technology, and maybe go 1:1 with students and devices? Getting a device for every student could have many benefits for both students and teachers. However, there can also be many disadvantages.
Laura Frankie, from Hamline University did a study at schools that had a 1:1 iPad to student ratio. She had 29 students do a survey after the year to see how it went. “Of the 29 student participants, 11 students agreed that they were distracted by the iPad and nine students said they were somewhat distracted because of the iPad.” The iPads can be distracting when trying to pay attention to the teacher. Twelve teachers also took a survey. “The biggest benefits reported by the teachers were increased student motivation and engagement. Many teachers believe that game-based learning motivates certain students, particularly the 6th graders.” So iPads can be very useful with the educational apps. …show more content…
If the whole class is based on the iPad, and a student forgets it, or the internet doesn’t work then the teacher can’t teach the class like they had
