Main Street Theatre’s production of Shrek: The Musical was executed beautifully in all aspects. This family friendly musical surpassed all my expectations, and left me speechless. Throughout the play we can distinctively see all the hard work and dedication that went into the production, and the result of this hilarious musical was spectacular.
Shrek was produced to be a modern comic musical, which in fact had the entire audience laughing and completely entertained. The stage was set to show different locations throughout the play. The scenes would be arranged to be a swamp, and then be changed to a camp site in very little time, so they had to include many props to portray the play in better detail. The set consisted of various large towers, bridges, and houses. They were very resourceful with their props, making the most they could with each object they included. Having multiple use for several props made the transitions from one scene to the other hardly noticeable because …show more content…
They stayed calm and consistent while executing a brilliant performance at the same time. We could clearly see they did not lack the vocal nor the choreographic skills. The directors did an outstanding job finding cast members that could mimic the same accents as the characters in the movie, and for that I applaud them. When I first heard the voices for donkey played by Phillip Brown and Shrek plays by Ryan Patrick Smith, I was completely blown away at how similar they sounded, it almost made me feel like I was watching the movie all over again. Not only did they get the voices on point, but they got the costumes to look identical to the ones from the movie. Some characters had to play the role for different characters and I was surprised at how fast they changed and did their makeup. I did not spot any mistakes or malfunctions which led me to believe that they spent many hours rehearsing their parts

...radi An analysis of storytelling and Joseph Campbell’s universal themes and their role in animated films. Theodore Hicks Word count: 1,711 Feedback: quite broad terms. Where there is some analysis it is very short and this needs developing further. Much of this is down to Analysis, Argument There is some analysis here but it is very limited. ON the whole you are describing events and stories in animation in quite broad terms. Where there is some analysis it is very short and this needs developing further. Much of this is down to your choice of question. If you had picked a couple of Disney/Pixar films and analysed them in more detail in relation to Campbell, your essay would have been more focused. Outlining this narrowing in the question will help with this, as reading the essay, this is where the topic really lies. You need to be able to show Campbell’s theories working across more than one film for it to be a successful piece of analysis at this stage, and in doing so, it will help you reach a central argument about the use of Campbell’s theories in discussing these films – at the moment this doesn’t happen. This is the section you need to work on the most, to increase your word count and extend the overall discussion. Structure, communication, referencing/bibliography The structure is generally ok, with an introduction, and a conclusion. You need to work on some of the in between sections as the essay jumps between ideas of outlining theories, linking some...

Learning Potential Scenario Analysis

...Number: 42852471 ECH113 Early Childhood Play and Inquiry Assignment 5: Learning Potential Scenario Analysis Play is linked to the intellectual development of children (Degotardi, 2014a). It provides an active construction of understanding in a variety of areas, nurturing creative, academic and social dispositions from its beginnings in the life of a child (Myck-Wayne, 2010, pp. 3). Play exists in many forms, and is assessed by a number of measures. The play scenario between four-year-olds Sophie, Isaac and Matthew will be examined in light of their narrative development and social play. An understanding of the importance of narrative development and the complexity of social play in early childhood will unmask the centrality of play in nurturing children’s cognitive and emotional development. It will also provide an insight into the potential methods for adult support and enhancement in play to maximize its benefits in early childhood. Narrative development in early childhood play is a result of creative thought and expression. Narrative development is rooted in symbolic thought, which refers to representational thinking (Degotardi, 2014a). Symbolic thought is a construct of abstraction, whereby something is transformed in the child’s mind into something else, creating meaning beyond its original context (Van Hoorn, Nourot, Scales, & Alward, 2013, pp. 213). Sophie and Isaac’s symbolic play begins by utilizing the given materials beyond...

Date: Candidate: Date: Director of studies: Abstract The aim of this paper is to explore the concept of animating characters with realistic pupils. Meaning, pupils which change according to focus, light levels, level of concentration, like and dislike, along with touch and pain. Expressive pupils already exist in animation, through this research I attempt to extend upon the current level of pupil expression. An analysis is carried out on existing animated characters, looking at character expression, and how the type of animation effects the level of realism and eye expression. To gather this information I used questionnaires aimed at viewers, character animators and also used animation guide books for reference. The benefits and drawbacks of more expressive pupils within animation are considered, using insights gained from character animators along with knowledge gained from my research into what influences the size of our pupils, I was able to see...

Sociology

...in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Abstract This article discusses the complexity of literary analysis and the implications of using fiction as a source of sociological data. This project infuses literary analysis with sociological imagination. Using a random sample of children’s novels published between 1930 and 1980, this article describes both a methodological approach to the analysis of children’s books and the subsequent development of two analytical categories of novels. The first category captures books whose narratives describe and support unequal social arrangements; the second category captures those whose narratives work instead to identify inequality and disrupt it. Building on Griswold’s methodological approach to literary fiction, this project examines how children’s novels describe, challenge, or even subvert systems of inequality. Through a sociological reading of three sampled texts – Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, A Wrinkle in Time, and Hitty: Her First Hundred Years – readers learn how these analytical categories work and how the sociology of literature might be enriched by attention to structural forms of inequality within literary fiction. This essay investigates children’s books in order to reinvigorate the discussion and use of novels by sociologists. Keywords: childhood, fiction, gender, literary analysis, literary narrative, power relations, social inequalities, Sociology, Sociology of literature Acknowledgments: I...

In 1941, that film was Orson Welles’s Citizen Kane. Welles produced, directed, wrote, and starred in the movie at age twenty-five, playing a newspaper magnate from a young man to old age. While the movie was not a commercial success initially (powerful newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, whose life was the inspiration for the movie, tried to suppress it), it was critically praised for its acting, story, and directing. Citizen Kane’s dramatic camera angles, striking film noir–style lighting, nonlinear storytelling, montages, and long deep-focus shots were considered technically innovative for the era. Over time, Citizen Kane became revered as a masterpiece, and in 1997 the American Film Institute named it the Greatest American Movie of All Time. “Citizen Kane is more than a great movie; it is a gathering of all the lessons of the emerging era of sound,” film critic Roger Ebert wrote.1 CHAPTER 6 ○ MOVIES 185 (c) Bedford/St. Martin's bedfordstmartins.com 1-457-62096-0 / 978-1-457-62096-6 MOVIES A generation later...
