...------------------------------------------------- MEMORANDUM TO: Mr. Sanjiv Sidhu FROM: Mr. Emmanuel Morin SUBJECT: Potential strategic threats, new IT developments, improved vision ------------------------------------------------- DATE: 10/16/12 INTRODUCTION i2 Technologies currently has a strong position in the industry market, excelling in innovation, industry knowledge, and IT methodology. Yet, there are strong potential threats in the form of IT development that can weaken i2’s position in the future. This memo proposes potential strategic threats that may develop over the next decade and key IT developments that may be overlooked. This memo also suggests an improved vision regarding the future business path of i2 Technologies. PROPOSED STRATEGIC THREAT One of the key strategic threats i2 may face in the next decade is the IT development of its competitors. SAP’s ERP, for example, is currently the leading competitor for i2. Although ERP’s focus is different to i2’s supply chain planning, SAP has the capability and the resources to expand its services to match SPC. This expansion can significantly reduce i2’s market share. It is important that i2 leverages its differentiation strategy within the SCM optimization to prevent competitors from increasing in market power. KEY IT FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS OVERLOOKED Technology is always changing and companies are finding new ways to make their operations...

...The Investment Proposal In early January of 2013, Manuel Pena, a venture capitalist, was attending a presentation conducted by two brothers- Dr. Adya Bharat and Dr. Sidhu Bharat- in New York City. Mannuel had been invited to the meeting by Sydney Smithers, a friend of his who knew he’d been actively looking for small businesses in which to invest. Sydney, a fellow Canadian, owned two businesses: one was a nursing home and the other, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), sold medical supplies for elderly people, including such items as walkers, canes, and special toilet seats. Sydney and the Bharat brothers were hoping Manuel would agree to invest $100,000 in their business proposition. Sydney had gotten to know Adya while they were graduate students together at a major Canadian university. Adya had earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience there, and when he subsequently obtained work with a company that developed artificial human organs, he moved to New York, where its research facility was located. He was later joined there by his brother, Sidhu, who’d recently completed a Ph.D. in aeronautical engineering and had gotten a job building mathematical models for a big drug company in the city. His models amalgamated statistics on patient responses to a range of drugs so that doctors could better achieve their clinical intent when prescribing medication. All three had since come together with the idea of providing an integrated medical service. Their original plan had been to target...

...VARK Analysis Paper Rachael Sprague Grand Canyon University: NRS – 429V Family Centered Health Promotion July 5th, 2015 Analysis of Learning Styles Learning styles of individual students vary and as a consequence, learning needs also change from each student to the next (Liew, Sidhu, & Barua, 2015). The “styles” for learning that are widely adopted include the Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, Kinesthetic (VARK) model, developed by Fleming and Mills (1992) include Visual (V), Auditory (A), Read/Write (R) and Kinaesthetic (K) types of learning approaches. The Visual (V) learner learns best by the use of information by visual means (using of charts, mindmaps, and other visual aids). The Auditory (A) learner understands best by hearing the information. The Read/Write (R) learner learns best when the information is shown in written word or displayed. The Kinaesthetic (K) learner learns best with practice or simulation (Liew, Sidhu, & Barua, 2015). In the past, institutional study methods were confined to lectures and self-study. A major part of education depended upon lectures. Information technology had widely changed the modes available related to knowledge acquirements for 21st century students. With a variety of educational aids available these days, it is important to identify the most efficient way to complement and deliver knowledge in order to help the students to become exceptional learners. In this way they can become the best students possible. Types of Learning ...

Wally Wheelspoke is the owner of a full-service and high-tech car wash company named Wally’s Wonder Wash (WWW), which is located in a Midwestern city populated by approximately 200,000 people with four facilities within the city. His plans are to add more facilities within the next two years. Wally’s major competitors are two other full-service car washes owned by different owners and three automatic facilities owned by the same owners. Wally’s strategy is to supply high-quality car washes and car detailing through competitive prices with a focus on the customers. To stand out from the competition, the attendants are required to ask customers to personally inspect the vehicle to ensure that it was satisfactorily cleaned. WWW’s operates seven days a week from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wally has no HR training, but is aware that he needs to hire and retain the best for this job and his future plans. Full-time employees are the primary focus, but part-time employees will be helpful during peak hours and the summer season. These employees will be filling the positions of washer and detailer. Currently, WWW has 70 attendants and 20 customer service specialists; along with a manager at each facility. Each position has been filled by using the promotion-from-within method. However, Wally is unsure if this method...

Either way, they are becoming increasingly popular. Many drivers have decided that hybrid cars are more adept because of their fuel efficiency and their ability to conserve our environment. It is great for fuel economy as it allows better than 50 miles per gallon. The size of this vehicle is also admirable because it is convenient when trying to find a place to park. ...“Historical Context” Supreet Sidhu (Manzanillo group) It was little difficult for me to decide about which piece of art I should write because most of the art pieces in this book are very beautiful, interesting and unique. I wanted to write about a building, after looking at many interesting and unique building, I decided to write about Kandariya Mahadeva temple located in Madhya Pradesh, India. Kandariya Mahadeva temple is a religious building made for Hindu’s. Hinduism has been practiced as far back as 1000 BCE. Kandariya Mahadeva is one of the tallest and largest temples. This temple is the only surviving temple at the site of Khajuraha. Kandariya Mahadeva temple was made between 1017-1029 CE whereas its construction is dated to the period from 1025-1050AD. “Hindus see their temple as cosmic mountains linked between heaven and earth.” Hindus take their religious temple very seriously. ...Rothaermel Exercise Discussion Question 1.1: The implementations and concept behind a firm’s business strategy and business model both depict two separate structural dimensions. However, these important elements of organizational designs are strongly intertwined. In fact, the goal of increasing the brand’s value will not be realized in the absence of the other. According to Chun & Lee (2013), an effective business model framework shapes the fundamental structure of the business as a whole. In contrast, strategy deals with the method in which the model can increase the firm’s ability to build and sustain competitive advantage. Business models illustrate how an organization is structured to maximize its resources towards gaining profits. It is evident then that the business model is entirely separate from the drive to engage the competitors inside a specific target market. Nevertheless, the effort to find relevance among consumers—highly complex and deeply influenced by the current societal needs, wants, and demands—an effectual business strategy must be engaged (Rothaermel, 2013). The business strategy describes how the company will engage competitors, recognize segment, and take action base on market behavior. Strategies carry a unique method of how businesses in the same market compete to win consumers. The main agenda behind business models is to structure the most fundamental design to build a solid starting point for strategic actions. Both aspects of...

Parents would send their children because it costs less than a ski trip because they cost over £500. The school trip will turnaround our class to ensure that we get the best results in the UK. We may be the school in the UK achieving a pass rate more than 95%; this can make the head teacher proud of you because you’re making everyone reach there maximum potential. ...OITS Assignment Report Group F2 OTISLINE Group Members Shirsho Biswas (0344/48) Shridhar Jaiswal (0347/48) Shubhkarman Singh Sidhu (0350/48) Q1. What might be the motivation for Otis to launch this project? Ans. The elevator service business alone was $2 billion, which was almost twice that of product sales. Also it was a more stable market than the product sales market. It was essential that this part of the business ran as effectively and efficiently as possible. Customer call-back responsiveness was the main factor on which this business depended. Earlier, when they used commercial answering services to attend non-primetime calls, the quality of service varied greatly since the answering services did not have the same motivation as the company to provide a fast response to the customer. NAO had earlier calculated that reducing call-backs for each installed elevator, by one a year, the company would save $5million annually. By launching OTISLINE, OTIS expected to improve the responsiveness and quality of their call-back service significantly, and thus saving a significant amount of money and increasing their share of the highly profitable elevator service business. Q2. How was value created in the product? Ans. OTISLINE created strong value for the company. It provided a real competitive advantage to OTIS with its ability to collapse both distance and time, providing in faster responses to customers and better maintenance procedures. The marketing services improved...
