...Assignment MIS This project involves packaging nails so that you make the most profit possible (this is a profit maximizing problem). Say you have six types of nails and can make as many as you need of each. These nails are in 4-inch, 3.5-inch, 3-inch, 2.5-inch, 2-inch, and 1.5-inch nails. The cost of making each type of nail depends on how big a nail it is. Those cost and selling prices are listed in the table below along with the weights. The nails will be sold in boxes of up to 30 nails. There must be no more than 10, but no less than 5, of each of three types of nails in each box. The nails in each box should weigh no more than 20 ounces. You're looking for the combination with the highest profit using a trial-and-error method. A spreadsheet would be helpful for completing this project. You'll most likely find that you identify some promising paths to follow right away and will concentrate on those to reach the best one. |Nail |Weight |Cost |Selling price | |4 inch |1 oz |4 cents |8 cents | |3.5 Inch |0.85 oz |3,5 cents |7 cents | |3 inch |0.7 oz |3 cents |6 cents | |2.5 inch |0.5 oz |2.5 cents |4 cents | |2 inch |0.25 oz |2 cents |3 cents | |1.5 inch |0.1 oz ...

Indemnity “A contract of indemnity is one in which the party sought to be made liable him or herself undertakes a primary liability to make good another’s loss, which loss may or may not result from the act of another (third) person”. “An expressed or implied contract to compensate an individual for loss or damage; for example, an insurance policy”. “A contract by which one party promises to save other from loss caused to him by the conduct of the promisor or by the conduct of any other person is called a contract of indemnity”. Essentials of contract of indemnity An indemnity is a personal security undertaking given by a third party, but under an indemnity the surety’s obligation is independent of debtor/creditor relationship. It is therefore a primary liability, not dependent on the debtor’s default. Indemnity is not given by repayment after payment. Indemnity requires that the party to be indemnified shall never be called upon to pay. In a contract of indemnity not only is there no requirement for a default by a third party as a condition of liability but there may not even be a third party involved for either the creation or exercise of the right. ...Jewish Holy Day - Hanukkah Fizza Sikandar REL 134 December 20, 2010 Jim Davidson Jewish Holy Day – Hanukkah Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that celebrates for eight days and nights. Jewish holy day Hanukkah is the holy celebration for Jewish people, which starts on 25th of the Jewish month. The Jewish month of Kislev, the Kislev is the month that starts from late November to late December on Jewish calendar. The story of Hanukkah begins in the time in power of Alexander the Great. Alexander overpowers the Syria, Egypt, and Palestine, which he permits the lands under his control to continue own religions, tradition, and keep hold of a certain degree of self-government. The word “Hanukkah” owns it meaning from Hebrew language as “Dedication.” The dedication is best reminder of holiday re-dedication of the holy temple in Jerusalem, when Jewish won the victory over the Syrian-Greeks in 165 BCE. After making Hanukkah as the holiday for eight days and night, many Jewish people did not give more important to Hanukkah as the Jewish holiday. However, in modern days, Hanukkah has become popular and modern practice as same as Christmas. Hanukkah starts on the twenty-fifth day of the Kislev (Jewish month). Hanukkah holiday do compare to Christmas holiday because Hanukkah usually falls between late November and late December and mostly celebrates in Christian societies. Hanukkah has some similarity to Christmas because during the Hanukkah festive, all the Jewish children...

...According to folk etymology, the name "Kashmir" means "desiccated land" (from the Sanskrit: Ka = water and shimeera = desiccate). In the Rajatarangini, a history of Kashmir written by Kalhana in the mid-12th century, it is stated that the valley of Kashmir was formerly a lake. According to Hindu mythology, the lake was drained by the great rishi or sage, Kashyapa, son of Marichi, son of Brahma, by cutting the gap in the hills at Baramulla (Varaha-mula). When Kashmir had been drained, Kashyapa asked Brahmans to settle there. This is still the local tradition, and in the existing physical condition of the country, we may see some ground for the story which has taken this form. The name of Kashyapa is by history and tradition connected with the draining of the lake, and the chief town or collection of dwellings in the valley was called Kashyapa-pura, which has been identified with Kaspapyros of Hecataeus (apud Stephanus of Byzantium) and Kaspatyros of Herodotus (3.102, 4.44).[1] Kashmir is also believed to be the country meant by Ptolemy's Kaspeiria.[2] Cashmere is an archaic spelling of Kashmir, and in some countries it is still spelled this way. According to legend, Jammu was founded by Raja Jamboolochan in the 14th century BC. During one of his hunting campaigns he reached the Tawi River where he saw a goat and a lion drinking water at the same place. The king was impressed and decided to set up a town after his name, Jamboo. With the passage of time, the name was corrupted...

By reComparison Contributor comments 12 views9893 Difference between Beauty and Brains Beauty or brains? A question often answered, a result seen all the time. It usually depends from person to person on what type of a partner they prefer but in this discussion or one could say for argument’s sake that both have co-existed in every society for centuries and no definite conclusion has ever been made conclusively to cause people stop asking this question. Even though a comparison of two opposites is most likely to end as a tie, one cannot help but take the risk of seeing what is so important about these two it that raises a question like this today. Beauty Brains Photo by mijori Photo by daveeza Physical Beauty over Intellect There are many people to whom we can put under the banner of "materialistic". It's not only all about the possession anymore; it matters a lot on who you have as a partner. The trend also dictates the value of looks to the extent that intellect and inner beauty is of lesser value in comparison to the way a person looks. It is sad if one considers that people have lost the value of a person over physical features. However, the importance of the looks factor is common is still in the minority, which is a relief to the more heart centered...

...Essay on Durkheim’s Theory of Division of Labour by Sikandar Khan Essay on Durkheim’s Theory of Division of Labour – Durkheim’s “Theory of Division of Labour” is often regarded as his major contribution to the field of sociological thought. Durkheim’s doctoral thesis, “Division of Labour in Society” – 1.893, is his first major book. In this, the influence of Auguste Comte is clearly evident. The theme of this book is the relationship between individuals and society or the collectivity. It is indeed a classic study of social solidarity. In this book he reacted against the view that modern industrial society could be based simply upon agreement between individuals motivated by self-interest and without any prior consensus. He agreed that the kind of consensus in modern society was different from that in simpler social systems. But he saw both of these as two types of social solidarity. In his famous work “The Division of Labour in Society” Durkheim tried to determine the social consequences of the division of labour in modern societies. A major theme in all Durkheim’s writings is the importance of shared social norms and values in maintaining social cohesion and solidarity. He argued that the nature of this social solidarity depends on the extent of the division of labour. Meaning of Division of Labour: The concept of “Division of Labour” has been used in three ways: (i) in the sense of the technical division of labour, it describes the production process; ...

...A Proposal for a Visiting Resident Fellowship at the Virginia Commonwealth University of Virginia, U.S.A. I: Introduction Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, the twelfth century mystic, says in a poem with which I often begin my recitals: I am neither Christian nor Jew nor Magian nor Musalman, I am not of any one country : India, China, Bulgaria, Scyte.. My place is placeless My trace is traceless It is neither body nor soul It is all the life of my Beloved. This proposal is about a seeker, an explorer of the soul through poetry and acting, with entertainment as second nature, by getting into the skin of men, women and children as actors do – in addition to a desire that seeks to understand and interact with others. Sufism expounds on simple living, sharing and forsaking for others. The good food and vine need not be consumed, but the spicier, crustier and more divine it is when given away, carries it farther with wings of the soul. That man by the Church who cannot walk as you do, who is asking for alms is doing what he does, but you need him more than he needs your cents. These viewpoints are inspired from Sufi thought but the anecdotes are my own assimilation from Italy this summer. This proposal is on the cutting edge for the Department of Film and Photography at the Virginia Commonwealth University. This is a proposal by a writer/actor who...

...????????? What is conflict? Is it a miscommunication between two parties? Is it a clash of interests? Is it a need for revenge? To a literary person, conflict is what gives a piece of writing depth and makes it something to remember. In fact, it is the very concept that makes Hamlet stand out from other pieces of literature. The intense struggle between the two main characters make it one of Shakespeare’s most well-known pieces of writing. From beginning to end, two characters have the power to create, mould and exemplify countless themes throughout Hamlet. The fierce conflict between Claudius and Hamlet is essential to develop the action and inaction, revenge, the impossibility of certainty and appearance vs. reality themes. The contrast between action and inaction is emphasized between Claudius and Hamlet due to the conflict between these two characters. To begin, Claudius sends Hamlet to an almost certain death immediately after he suspects Hamlet’s knowledge of his father’s murder. Quickly, he confides in Rosencratz and Guildenstern that, “[Claudius likes Hamlet] not, nor stands it safe with [everyone] / [t]o let his madness range” (III.iii.1-2), and demands, “therefore prepare you. I your commission will forthwith dispatch / [a]nd he to England shall along with you” (III.iii.3-4). It seems Claudius proceeds impulsively, however his calculated and rapid actions are the key to the development of the theme of action. Claudius smoothly uses “[Hamlet’s] madness”...

...Natural gas is a vital energy source for Pakistan. In FY2010, Pakistan consumed about 1.3 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas,all domestically produced and representing about half of primary energy consumption. Natural gas is transmitted and distributed by two companies: Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd. (SSGC) the sub borrower in this Project supplying Sindh and Balochistan, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd.(SNGPL) supplying Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Many large gas fields are in decline, and at current production forecasts, the country is at or near its peak production. Proven remaining reserves were estimated at 27.6 tcf in 2010. By international standards, and compared to oil products, natural gas is inexpensive in Pakistan, which lead to inefficient use. A critical challenge is The high level of unaccounted for gas (UFG). Pakistan has UFG in the gas pipeline system of more than 9 percent in SSGC's network and more than 11 percent in SNGPL's system. This compares to 1 2 percent in well run gas networks. Most of the UFG is caused by leakages from a corroded and under ‐ maintained pipeline system, but a significant part also stems from gas theft Fertilizer industry uses around 17% (which is equal to total household consumption in Pakistan so if they stop giving gas to these industries, household gas problem will be solved) of gas in Pakistan and Government has written agreement with them that no gas will be provided to them during three months i.e. Dec...
