Ann Putnam, a character in Arthur Miller's The Crucible have had 8 children, but only one have lived. The daughter has accused several people of being witches. Then for Anna Bradstreet she lost her family in a house fire. “The world no longer let me love, My hope and treasure lies above” (Bradstreet 2). The quote is trying to explain how she looks up to the heavens and thinks about her children in what she lost. Ann Putnam’s reaction is far different from Anna Bradstreet’s reaction in losing their children. Ann Putnam blamed all of the supernatural behaviors around town saying it was the issue of why her babies kept dying.
