Marita “Marita’s Bargain” and Annie John “A Walk to the Jetty” are two women who are chasing success to fulfill their dreams. Marita believes in working hard and making sacrifices throughout her childhood to accomplish her dreams. Annie John has goals that she wants to achieve, and she does sacrifice everything she knows so she can accomplish her goals. In “Marita’s Bargain”, Marita is an extraordinary young girl. Everyday Marita wakes up at five-forty-five a.m. to start off her day. She gets herself ready, eats breakfast, and is off to school. Marita attends school at KIPP Academy. KIPP is one of the most strict schools in all of New York. KIPP Academy’s school day begins at seven-twenty-five a.m. and goes until five p.m. (Gladwell 12)
