"Skyfall" by Adele

This is the end
Hold your breath and count to ten
Feel the earth move and then
Hear my heart burst again

For this is the end
I've drowned and dreamt this moment
So overdue I owe them
Swept away, I'm stolen

Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together

Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall
That skyfall

Skyfall is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
Where worlds collide and days are dark
You may have my number, you can take my name
But you'll never have my heart

Let the sky fall (let the sky fall)
When it crumbles (when it crumbles)
We will stand tall (we will stand tall)
Face it all together

Let the sky fall (let the sky fall)
When it crumbles (when it crumbles)
We will stand tall (we will stand tall)
Face it all together
At skyfall

[x2:]
(Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall)

Where you go I go
What you see I see
I know I'd never be me
Without the security
Of your loving arms
Keeping me from harm
Put your hand in my hand
And we'll stand

Let the sky fall (let the sky fall)
When it crumbles (when it crumbles)
We will stand tall (we will stand tall)
Face it all together

Let the sky fall (let the sky fall)
When it crumbles (when it crumbles)
We will stand tall (we will stand tall)
Face it all together
At skyfall

Let the sky fall
We will stand tall
At skyfall

Skyfall Review

...Just when I thought the James Bond films were going to come to an all-but satisfying conclusion, Skyfall provided what I thought Quantum of Solace didn’t — depth. In Skyfall the mood and style was much different to that of the previous films. Certainly an opening scene that explodes as only a Bond film can, Bond continues with his ability to operate every device and machine known to man. This time, however, it’s a caterpillar on a moving train. This time around in Skyfall, we experience a different tone. It’s deeper because we experience an opportunity to see deeply into the characters. Instead of just knowing that James Bond is an international man of mystery, we see shades of him we’ve never seen before. A glimpse to what makes up his chemistry rather than his signature dry martini, Aston Martin and his classic sexual mistress he seems to encounter so frequently. At the same time, we see the major development and texture we can practically feel with M, played by Judi Dench and Silva, played by Javier Bardem. M is practically the second-leading character, as we see some skeletons ruffled up out of the closet while she stares termination and retirement in the face answering to her boss, Mallory, who’s played brilliantly quiet by Ralph Fiennes. Pieces of the Dark Knight echoed through the movie in my mind. The color set the tone. Vivid and bright at times in Shanghai, while contrastingly gray and dull in Scotland. The main point I make when referring to the...

Textual Analysis

...Textual Analysis Coursework Essay For this essay I shall be comparing Skyfall (2012) to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (2011) both in the spy genre of films. I will be focusing on the way both films portray the differences in roles between male and female characters. I chose Skyfall from the 007 series; due to the fact M (Judi Dench) plays a more significant role within the film. It also takes a different approach on the character of Eve Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), as she is shown doing fieldwork alongside Bond (Daniel Craig) at the start of the film. Of course like any other Bond film, Skyfall also includes women who 007 will form a ‘relationship’ with (normally ending in their demise). I will be discussing if women in Skyfall are shown in a stereotypical and perhaps borderline sexiest way. My other choice of film, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol also stars female characters, although they have a more predominant role throughout the film then Skyfall. One of Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) team members is Jane (Paula Patton) and she is one of the main leading characters. Till around halfway in the film, a primary antagonist is Sabine Moreau (Lea Seydoux). It could still be said that these two characters, despite having a big role within the film, have been somewhat subjected to being portrayed in an idealistic way of women throughout the film. Skyfall is the 23rd instalment in the 007 franchises and was released on October 23th 2012. A new director on the Bond scene directed...

Business Model

...new level of meanings that would take more than twelve words to describe and that which I plan to go into in-depth detail about. This case study will map out why the term ‘representation’ is so prominent in the ongoing fifty-year old thriller sequel, James Bond, how influential it can be on a persons opinion, and the way in which it shapes a whole film. Representation may or may not have shaped not only the way we see the characters but the way in which we look at features after the film has been made, for example, do we view stockbrokers on Wall Street the same now as we did before the Oscar winning film ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ was produced? Or do we assume that every secret agent is just like James Bond? Michael Wilson, producer of Skyfall and screenwriter of many of the 007 films, says: ‘the film character of James Bond is always dependent on the actor who plays him and the time at which the film is made because Bond always lives in the contemporary time the films are made.’ The representation of characters in films is vital to how we view a film and whether we take an instant like or dislike to the character. Firstly the representation of James Bond in the 1962 film Dr.No, played by Sean Connery. The Bond figure back then was a very distinct, masculine character. A role model for all men nationally, everyone wanted to be like James Bond. A stunningly slick individual who always appears in an immaculate tux. Hair swept back at all times, never appears untidy or scruffy...

...Get Me In, Part 4: Create a Plan to Monetize a Song V J L Mus 320 February 18, 2016 Get Me In, Part 4: Create a Plan to Monetize a Song In week 3 we were asked to create a publicity, marketing, and promotional strategy designed to introduce the specific artist we focused on. My artist was Adele; Adele is a well-known music artist and songwriter. The purpose of week 4’s paper is to create a sales and distribution plan that will help Adele generate more income. When it comes to describing Adele and a specific brand it can be rather complicated in a sense that she (Adele) has made it clear and in fact “The word may be everywhere now, but Adele doesn't want to be called a "brand." “I don’t like that word,” the record-breaking singer said of "brand" in a new interview for the cover of Time magazine. “It makes me sound like a fabric softener, or a packet of crisps. I’m not that" ("Business Insider ", 2015). She went on to say that “She believes that artists should strive to be deeper than a "brand and more like a package for their fans” ("Business Insider ", 2015). With that being said and honoring the wishes of my artist I will begin to explain how Adele has been able to remain on top without being “branded” per say. She sticks to her roots and what she is comfortable with whether it is her style, her drive, her music, and her sound and as uncommon as that is for an artist today she has managed to outsell and outshine almost every artist to date. Maybe it is the stance...

Which Character Is Represented the Most for Being Dominant; M or Bond?

...Which character is represented the most for being dominant; M or Bond? M is represented as a strong and dominant character. Throughout the film, Skyfall, M is presented as the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Wing of the MI6 (Secret Intelligence Service). Usually, males are stereotypically known to have higher and more well paid jobs than women, so this subverts the stereotype. Older people are usually stereotyped for being dependent on other people, whereas M subverts this stereotype. For example, she says: "Take the damn shot!" to Moneypenny. When she says this, she doesn't ask for reassurance and the rest of the team in MI6 looks at M for guidance. This subverts the stereotype as she has authority over other members of the team, and still showing dominance over the males in MI6. M is represented more as a dominant female character as she isn't sexualised because she is an older female in comparison to Bond's love interest, Severine. Bond is represented as a stereotypical masculine character. Throughout the film, he is a spy agent that catches most wanted villains. The film is mainly focused around James Bond catching the villain, so Bond is a heavily dominant character in comparison to M. During the mansion scene, Bond also tells M to leave the mansion to then go somewhere safe. This shows that because she is an older woman she is weaker and can't help Bond. M also has guidance and help from Bond's older friend, showing that M's dominance is slowly going and Bond is taking...

James Bond Identity

...Oddjob is just as iconic of a role as main villain Goldfinger. However, throughout the film Oddjob isn’t tasked with anything other than assigned duties from Goldfinger. His character fails to develop. He seems robotic, doing whatever is asked of him, and does not have much of a speaking role in the film. Eon productions didn’t really put much effort into diversifying Bond casts across allies and antagonists in it’s films. The majority of “good guys” were westernized, while villains were portrayed otherwise. Over the course of the films we watched in class, there are very few instances of people of color who positively contribute to the Bond’s objective. This has been somewhat remedied in the more recent films such as Die Another Day and Skyfall, but it is appears in the early films that colored people contribute minimally to Bond’s missions. One notable example in the film “Live and Let Die”, an African American, Rosie Carver, is depicted as an incompetent CIA agent who is assigned to help Bond. Her incompetence as an agent is highlighted when she tells Bond that she is only on her second assignment, after a failed assignment with MI6 agent Baines. She nearly kills Bond by mistake, by attempting to sneak into his rom as “Ms. Bond.” The role that agent Carver played is minimal, as she is quickly seduced by Bond and killed off. In the video where comedian Trevor Noah humors the possibility of Idris Elba playing Bond, he jokingly pokes at those who claim Bond cannot be Black because...

Management

...Bridge of Spies” opens with a shot of a man looking in a mirror as he paints a nearly-complete self-portrait. The man is shot from behind. We are not really seeing “him.” We are looking at two reflections, one in glass and one in watercolors. The truth is in the middle. This duality of perception vs. reality and, eventually, the concept of those three triangular points of interest (reflection, man, painting)—which look similar but aren’t quite—will resurface in “Bridge of Spies,” a daring, studied, mannered true story that is at once remarkably genuine and deeply cinematic at the same time. It’s one of the best films of the year. As he has done at least a dozen times before, Spielberg captures the arc of a man who is caught up in something bigger than himself and somehow rises to the occasion. The “Man Under Pressure” this time is Jim Donovan (Tom Hanks), an insurance lawyer called into duty by his government when the aforementioned painter, a man named Rudolph Abel (Mark Rylance), is captured for the crime of espionage against the United States on behalf of the USSR. It is 1957, and the Cold War is a constant concern. Adults still discuss the Rosenbergs around the dinner table while Jim’s children learn about how easily they’ll survive nuclear fallout if they just duck and cover or fill their bathtubs with drinking water. Donovan is asked to serve as Abel’s defense attorney by his boss (Alan Alda), who just wants Donovan to be a warm body—someone to sit next to the traitor...
