...Hong Kong[note 3] (Chinese: 香港) is one of two Special Administrative Regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the other being Macau. A city-state[9] situated on China's south coast and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea,[10] it is renowned for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour. With a land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.[11] Hong Kong's population is 95 percent ethnic Chinese and 5 percent from other groups.[12] Hong Kong's Han Chinese majority originate mainly from the cities of Guangzhou and Taishan in the neighbouring Guangdong province.[13] Hong Kong became a colony of the British Empire after the First Opium War (1839–42). Originally confined to Hong Kong Island, the colony's boundaries were extended in stages to the Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and then the New Territories in 1898. It was occupied by Japan during the Pacific War, after which the British resumed control until 1997, when China resumed sovereignty.[14][15] The region espoused minimum government intervention under the ethos of positive non-interventionism during the colonial era.[16] The time period greatly influenced the current culture of Hong Kong, often described as "East meets West",[17] and the educational system, which used to loosely follow the system in England[18] until reforms implemented in 2009.[19] Under the principle of "one country, two systems"...

...Skip Patterson has developed a LEED certified “green” home. The conscientious building technique is new and revolutionary in modern home construction. With the environment in mind, he developed and utilized many different building techniques and materials to minimize environmental impact in total, from beginning to end. The materials used in the construction are specialized and expensive. The manner in which the construction is completed minimizes the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. Energy star rated appliances are available at a higher cost than traditional units. The techniques used to build the houses is so revolutionary, Skip has had to hire representatives from manufacturers he uses to train his contractors in proper installation and utilization. This in total, increases the cost of the homes roughly 10% from traditionally built homes of the same square footage. Skips issue lies in the cost itself. The affordability of the homes is one that attracts only those customers that can afford paying more for a product with alternative goals in mind. Environmentally conscientious consumers can see savings of up to $2000 - $3000 per year in energy costs. Skip should concentrate his promotion objectives in pointing out that fact. Local newspaper ads should coincide with environmental news sources. Green energy magazine articles will go a long way in messaging this promotion. Building and home shows around the country should be attended to target the environmentally...

Company Profile: Gold Star Chili is a restaurant chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio, that sells Cincinnati chili. The original restaurant was established in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Mt. Washington in 1965 by four brothers from Jordan. Gold Star Chili is the "Official Chili" of the Cincinnati Bengals. Gold Star Chili was founded in 1965 by four Jordanian brothers in Mount Washington, originally under the name Hamburger Heaven. As the original name suggests, the original vision for their restaurant was primarily hamburgers. However, they also had a chili recipe that they began modifying, soon finding that customers were ordering the chili more than any of the other menu items. As a result, the brothers changed the restaurant name to Gold Star Chili and removed many of the other items from their menu. In 1993 Tony Pérez, then manager of the Cincinnati Reds and former member of the Big Red Machine, kicked off a promotion campaign for the restaurant. During his baseball years Pérez's nickname was "Big Dog", and since the chain was ready to promote their new foot long cheese coney, Gold Star saw a promotional opportunity, naming it "Big Doggie". For the promotion, the store offered customers 16-inch (410 mm) miniature Louisville Slugger baseball bats for US$1.99, and Pérez did various in-store signing sessions for fans. In the past, Gold Star Chili has also hired other...

...Continuous Skyline Queries for Moving Objects Marwan Othman El-Rais Omar Khairy El -Morsy ABSTRACT The literature on the skyline algorithms so far mainly deal with queries for static query points over static datasets. With the increasing number of mobile service applications and users, the need for continuous skyline query processing has become more pressing. The continuous skyline operator involves not only static but also dynamic dimensions. In this paper, we examine the spatio-temporal coherence of the problem and propose a continuous skyline query processing strategy for moving query points. First, we distinguish the data points that are permanently in the skyline and use them to derive a search bound. Second, we investigate into the connection between data points’ spatial positions and their dominance relationship, which provides an indication on where to find changes of skyline and how to update the skyline continuously. Based on the analysis, we propose a kinetic-based data structure and an efficient skyline query processing algorithm. We analyze the space and time costs of the proposed method and conduct an extensive experiment to evaluate the proposal. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work on continuous skyline query processing. shown in Figure 1, there are a set of hotels and for each hotel, we have its distance from the beach (x axis) and its price (y axis). The interesting hotels are all the points not worse than any other point in both distance...

NOVEMBER 2013 BY JOHN LAMM MULTIPLE PHOTOGRAPHERS 97 52 Nissan GT-R fans, you can chill out or relax—or even chillax, if that’s your thing. It’s true that the standard 2015 GT-R is slightly toned down, but it’s not as though the automaker chiseled off the supercoupe’s hard edges. Think of them instead as sanded down by microns, an ever-so-slight reversal of course enabled by the fact that there now exists the baddest-ass Godzilla the world has ever seen: the new GT-R NISMO. As for that “softening,” it isn’t necessarily a bad idea to tame the all-wheel-drive supercoupe a bit. Remember that current GT-R customers are advised they needn’t take their car to the dealer because of the uncouth noises it makes. Here’s what’s different for the non-NISMO car: The suspension gets new spring rates, revalved shocks, a softer, hollow 34-mm front anti-roll bar, and bushings that are softer in the vertical plane. New tires—measuring 255/40-20 up front and 285/35-20 at the rear, and still branded as Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST CTTs—have stiffer sidewalls and are said to be not so much softer as more...

...The skyline of San Francisco is certainly a view that will remain in the minds of those that have witnessed it. A special building included in that skyline is a tall, white concrete column, known as Coit Tower. Coit Tower was completed in 1933 on the peak of Telegraph Hill. The tower is named after Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a wealthy advocate of the San Francisco firefighters. Although she died in 1929, she had money reserved for the construction of the tower as well as a monument dedicated to volunteer firefighters in Washington Square. The design of Coit Tower was done by Arthur Brown, Jr, an architect who designed the San Francisco City Hall. Coit Tower is a slender white concrete column easily visible when viewing the city's skyline. Although...

Tourists from everywhere will come to see the largest Ferris wheel in the Western Hemisphere. The development of the two sites will boost the economic growth of St. George and Staten Island, but some believe this is the wrong way to go for Staten Island. ...Jesse Jacquez Com101-052 Narrative writting 09-07-13 The Beach Everyone needs a break in life. Chores, school, and work are all daily duties that people want to escape from. The beach releases me from all my responsibilities, so I try to visit the beach every summer at least once. I feel that all work and no play can be socially unhealthy. There should always be time for letup. Everyone needs to get out of work mode once in a while. My cousins enjoy the beach as much as I do, and my cousins always invite me to tag along with them. When I visit the beach, I can personally say that I always create new memories. This past summer, I only got the chance to go to the beach one time, but I still had an amazing time at the beach. The day I went to the beach was perfect. The sun was high in the sky, and the clouds provided just enough shade. The weather for the whole day was beautiful. The sand on the beach was warm to the skin. It felt as if I was walking on a bunch of pillows. As soon as I sat on the beach I completely buried my feet in the sand. The waves where flowing in because of the boat traffic in the distance. The sound of the waves were almost putting me to sleep as I laid on the shore. Many people play recordings of wave sounds to put themselves asleep at night, but the real sound of waves in person is extremely move effective. The water, the sand, and the sky was just exceptional. I could not dream up a better day. The setting of the beach was just right. The...
